What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I don’t think cats are fooled nowadays. I think cats as a species have assimilated the idea that humans watch these flatscreen moving pictures...yet years ago, and I am talking about the 1960’s, cats were fascinated by the television and used to go round the back to see where the pictures disappeared to, and then come round to the front again. And even tried to catch the flying birds...

Then finally cats decided a television was only good for warmth and lay on the top (it was wide enough then), with a back leg and front leg and tail dangling in front of the entire screen....

Back when we had a big console TV the KittenCat used to like to lie on top of it. One day they showed the Trooping the Colour and she was riveted by the foot soldiers parading. She was watching them upside down ... I figured they looked like mice or ants to her.

I used to find it funny when they leaned further and further over, not realising they were overbalanced on the screen side and would suddenly fall off. Then sit all affronted insisting that they hadn’t fallen...

Hi Saskia I have been thinking today about your move. New England sounds wonderful but how far would it be from where you are now and would it be colder? The KC wouldnt like that I suspect. I gather it's spread over six states so I guess some are more hospitable than others. I would of course prefer you came to settle in Blandford which though two counties away I could come and visit occasionally. Its a big decision for you.

Thank you, @PenguinMum . What a kind thing to say! I would like that very much. But unfortunately not being self-supporting I don't think I qualify to immigrate. Which I understand and have no problem with. I just wish ... :)

You're right, New England is very cold and a long way away. But to move there all I would need to do is re-register for Medicaid and food stamps, which are managed by each state individually, unlike the Federal Medicare and Social Security programs, which transfer from state to state. If I lived in another country I would still get Social Security but not Medicare and I can't afford private-pay medical care.

The town I am thinking of near where I live now seems great, it's just a bit too spread out for walking, and doesn't have any sidewalks. But not much traffic either, so I imagine walking alertly along the curb would be fairly safe, or on any grass shoulder that might be open.

The KittenCat occasionally will roll off whatever perch she happens to be sleeping on. So I have a chair-back up against her window sill, and I try to keep an eye on her when she is napping up there. In our previous apartment the sofa was up against the living room wall, so if she fell asleep on the back of it she would just roll onto my shoulders and startle us both. Now the sofa is a divider between the kitchen and living room, so I don't let her go to sleep on the back of it anymore.

I hope you are feeling better now.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be a Suzuki, or a BSA Lightning. Or, going by the cap, a Moto Guzzi?

Popeye always seems to sleep in corners, under blankets, in an enclosed chair, or on my chest! All safe places!
I believe @maglil55 seems to have the same bug. She describes pretty much the same pattern how I have been feeling with this. It also knocks the stuffing out of you. I had to cancel today. And it looks like tomorrow too. But I am improving thank you.

Still using up 5's. 5.3 for me this morning. Off to work and then yet another vet trip with the dog with the abscess on his bottom. 2 weeks now - it is beginning to show signs of healing and he seems well in himself. Remains to be seen what the vet thinks. I have a feeling she has her sights on a nice foreign holiday on the profits from this!!

Good start in the cricket. Great catch by Stokes. Archer looks to be the real deal.
Cricket at the Oval used to drive me mad True Blue...I lived just around the corner from the cricket ground on match days you couldn't move for fans exiting the ground...or celebrating a win

Our Bulldog Trixie had an abscess within her anal gland, it took weeks of antibiotics to clear up. Around 7 weeks worth it did burst on its own so we just kept it clean and drained it every once in awhile. Hope it clears up soon.

5.4 today.
Have to take son's car into garage as its playing up. He does shift work and will be out cold until at least lunch time! Got to coordinate this with hubby who is following in our car. He can then bring me back home. I've then got a delivery to wait in for somewhere else. I'm in demand today.

Happy Friday to one and all. Going to catch up on thread later over a coffee.
