i like the adage, that we should never look down on someone,

Haiku as you know is generally 3 lines (but not always). Tanka is 5 lines, so briefly but not really a totally accurate explanation is the first 3 lines like haiku. Then the last two lines expanding on it in some way. Maybe with something unexpected.
