What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning All. 6.2 this morning which is a welcome direction. Going to try with salads omelettes and fish in modest portions this week to try to get better FBG.
@ianpspurs hang on in there, you are doing your best and PG you will soon be looking back at this difficult period. @Bubbsie good luck at the clinic today. @Krystyna23040 good luck at the dentist. @gennepher I know how annoying it is when you eat something that sends your BG up. For me recently it was too much meat in one sitting (didnt have to eat it all but I did). We are all sinners sometimes but hey dont beat yourself up because you have made great progress and will soon be back on track.
Well another hot day in my neck of the woods. Have a good Tuesday everyone.
Stay well, stay safe.

good morning all :)

4.1 today

off for a quick shower now, must feel squeaky clean for my 'appointment with a vampire', it's that HbA1c blood draw time again ;) and, coincidentally, it's the day designated for my diabetic retinopathy check. The appointments are in the same building ... 6 and a half hours apart.

We have a full day program planned, appointment one, then a snack :D, a visit to the garage to get a tyre repaired, followed by a trip to the recycling site to get rid of some garden rubbish, then we'll probably go for a walk, have lunch, visit mum and do our shopping before the second appointment.

Hope your day treats you kindly :)
Hope all goes well with your appointments....how awkward is that timimg!

@PenguinMum thanks for the support - “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” style of thing. @geefull you will indubitably knock it out the park Ben Stokes like but nonetheless some anxiety will be there until full confirmation. Your plan for the day sounds good so enjoy, live long and prosper.

She sure is, and thank you. In all honesty a Recorder trio, minus me on bass, sounds great, they are all excellent musicians. I don't read all them black dots on the page fast enough :) Have a good day @ianpspurs

I could read those black recorder dots; the problem was that my fingers couldn't translate fast enough. ;)
Good luck with the bass. :)

Actually you have hit the nail on the head, it's the connection between eyes, brain and fingers that's causing me the problems. Give me a Guitar, Banjo or Mandolin any day, still I shall persevere :(

Mrs MC just announced she is seeing a friend for coffee this morning and so she's leaving me to prepare for our entertaining, that was big surprise so I have to get my skates on. Now where's my apron?

Good luck, @Muddy Cyclist ! :) I don't have a skate key or an apron to lend you, but I forgot to wash the dishes last night ... if you want to skate on over here ... :D

Hmm ... maybe I've just realized why I dreamed about washing dishes last night ...

Getting back to Waitrose, @ianpspurs , I used to think it and Sainsbury's and Tesco were three of a kind. Now ... maybe I thought wrong ... ? :) Just curious.

Morning all. 6.1 today which is higher than I’d like but better than yesterday.
Guess what? The Sun have run my story haha! And they’ve put in a photo of Dennis - the last sentence about me thinking that going on a run with him is a pleasure isn’t entirely accurate!!!

You are an amazing woman. And that is an amazing story. It has moved me to tears -- tears for your courage and indomitable spirit -- and yet also to smiles of joy, for you, and for all the people who will get to read your story and hopefully take away not only inspiration but good advice.

I love the pics of you and Dennis! Hugs to you and to him, and to all your loving and supportive family. Thank you so much for posting your story.

Saskia your reply has practically brought me to tears, you are such a lovely person, thank you so much for your kind words.

@Muddy Cyclist are the banjo and mandolin tuned the same? Is it a 5-string banjo or a tenor?
I have both, I have tenor banjo tuned same as Mandolin and Fiddle. I have so many English Dance and Irish Fiddle tunes going around in my head it often takes a while to find the right introduction to the tune we are playing. Often someone will say let's play Enrico and out comes Michael Turners Waltz :)

Fantastic account of an amazing journey. The vibrant lady in the present day pics is a real contrast to the wine pouring, care worn NHS worker? You are a very special person.

Simple question for you guys. How many of you know your trend for BMR (basal metabolic rate) and Cals in? I know I am mainly eating less than I need (quite a bit) - thanks @PenguinMum and others - but I can't eat keto. Ideally, I would be fascinated by the data from those with A1c sub 37.

Another good article demonstrating what can be achieved. Congratulations and well done to Dennis also for the photo bombs.

What a courageous, remarkable and determined woman you are, not only putting your diabetes in remission , but also helping others to take control of their diabetes by offering advice to others, oh and Dennis is an absolute bundle of fun.

Right hello everyone, hope you all enjoyed your bank holiday weekend for I certainly did, it all started on Thursday night with a shufty in the drinks cupboard revealed...……...my son has been helping himself to some of the spirits that have been lurking, furtively just out of sight, at the back of the cupboard since 1999 (give or take a few years, sort of) the better half announced, in a rather bolshy manner "Well we had best get it ALL drunk then" and that dear friends is where it all gets rather hazy, I do remember at one point trying to climb the tree outside of the house (thankfully with all my clothes on this time, a throw back to my yoof) singing " Now I'm the king of the swingers a jungle VIP" whilst my Wife did the accompanying cries of "Get Down you Idiot you'll break your neck! (hopefully) no climb higher love" or did I in actual fact have a small drink and just like the rest of the North marvel at the fire in the sky, and then build some units and adult for the weekend (was a good story though, and a bit of wishful thinking) oh and I only got beat up once by the meter of doom as it pitched itself at me like a Hazelwood bouncer knocking my glasses off and felling me like a giant sunflower with a 6.8. Enjoy the rest of this glorious Tuesday everyone.

Take care.
