I have a friend who bought a second hand professional Italian barista that was being replaced in his local koffy shop - all red, silver and brass with fancy crests - he even went on a course after he plumbed it into his kitchen.
Interestingly - he recommends grinding your own beans and experimenting with how coarsely/finely you grind as the taste of the end product changes.
I just use a cafetiere and whatever koffy is on offer as I am a philistine (I don’t drink instant though, or that muck that sits in glass jugs on a hot plate for hours on end - yuk!)

Some things get lost in translation -- I read "bought a second hand professional Italian barista" and pictured one of these:

6.7! Normal service resumes tomorrow. I'm making good choices.

DAY 7 - PORTOFINO - LAST STOP BEFORE RETURN TO ROME

Portofino is a fishing village on the Italian Riviera coastline, southeast of Genoa city. Pastel-colored houses, high-end boutiques and seafood restaurants fringe its Piazzetta, a small cobbled square overlooking the harbor, which is lined with super-yachts. A path leads from the Piazzetta to Castello Brown, a 16th-century fortress and museum with art exhibitions and panoramic views of the town and the Ligurian Sea.

But so much more than this.

Our last day of living the good life. No cooking. No cleaning. No ironing. Being entertained every second of the day. Food fit for a king. Scenery to die for. Strolling around hand in hand (until I over heat!).

Today Portofino really has been the icing on the cake. Took the 9.30am tender after another fab breaky. Omelette and a **** good one.

Portofino is breathtaking. I will let the photos speak for themselves.

It was a good climb up...and up....and up to the bar I found on TripAdvisor. Stunning views when we got there. Hot and thirsty and dying for the loo. It was half way back down! Slight exaggeration, but it wasnt on the premises, way off. And when I found it it was just a small green hut! Worse still, just a hole in the floor. With my aim! That wasnt happening. Saved for later .

This post will be my shortest (thank God I hear you say). We have to be packed by 11pm for bags to be taken away so I have things to do! Shock to my system. Shower calls as we will be going down for our last slap up around 7.30.

Edit: had a lovely meal, service and food exceptional. Said our goodbyes. Photo shoot with the lovely ladies from northern Ireland we have made friends with.

Last stroll around the ship. Sad yet happy to have had such an amazing adventure. Bags packed and put outside door for collection.

Back home tomorrow. Missed our family so happy days.

And I'm so looking forward to catching up with my favourite thread!!!

Hope all ok with everyone. Not had chance to read.

Lovely photos again @Debandez wishing you a safe journey home after your wonderful adventure.
Today my fbg was 5.8 up and about early to put a beef brisket in for family lunch later. Before that we are all going litter picking in our village. The parish council run a community litter puck on 1st Sunday of the month, all equipment provided. We meet up at the social club and take a street each. Dogs and children welcome so my granddaughters and Dennis are coming along too. It’s a nice sociable occasion and a good community service ( sad that it’s needed though)

My mum always made us say ‘White Rabbits’ on the first of every month, before we said anything else - she said it would bring good luck. White Rabbits to you all!

Hi Ya
I have just done my White Rabbit 3 times.
Shouted it at the top of my voice!!!
You must say it before any living person speaks to you, I was told...
Right, going to read back on this thread...
Oh fbg was 7.8.
A little high, but I was working in the garden yesterday, and I had a little something to nibble with a coffee each time I had a break. My carbs and calories were the same as in the 3 hour window I do, but it seems I do need that longer fasting period without food each day. I do log my food in a simple app, so I can keep track as the day goes on.
Happy September everyone
It is an amazing fantastic beautiful wonderful day!
Take care x

Morning All. 5.5 today which is good after Tandoori prawns and cauli bhajee t/a. Very glad to be back in the zone these last few days but will it last?
@Debandez safe journey home. I have never considered a cruise but you have sold it to me. @DJC3 what a great thing to do with your neighbours and family. Good that Dennis and the girls can join in too. @ianpspurs hope you slept well in your own bed and are recovering well. Enjoy the big game (Son going, OH watching on TV, me staying well out of the way o_O). @HarrisonK you deserve a break hopefully the grass cutting will slow up a bit now its September.
Have a great Sunday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

Have just scraped into the 5s with a 5.9 this morning. Sitting relaxing with a coffee before our walk around Sheringham Park.

Looking forward to the drive there through the countryside and then the lovely walk and the coffee in the cafe and then browsing through the National Trust shop. An idyllic day.

Morning all. Sunny, bright and God even gave me a squirrel playing around the children's play house on the lawn nearest our house to start my day. No idea what White Rabbits is all about but it is trending in @DJC3 land and @gennepher's bungalow so White Rabbits to all. Ian's adventures in hospital land all over for now so heartfelt thanks to all who sent me good wishes and to @PenguinMum for her thoughts today. Also thanks to the nurses, hcas and surgeons of Peterborough City hospital for fixing my plumbing and dealing with the dirty end of elderly men - God bless you all. Almost irrelevant in a way but my fbg was 5.5 which seems about par for all the shenanigans lately, Just a footnote but if you want to ensure an old guy can't pass water tell him he needs 3 good samples before being discharged from hospital. 2 of us trying that late yesterday evening - drinking water for England - to beat the 9.00 pm deadline (doors shut apparently) - I won. Final hurdle before discharge - printer in the area I was had stopped working to print my discharge letter. Tracked a working printer down, Cannula removed and we made it out of the doors at 8.58 pm.

Strange this language thing - had a discussion on Quora yesterday with a person from over the pond - reminded me of talking to my sister about my nieces pram - turns out it was a baby stroller. Didn’t know that babies in the USA strolled - ours seem to perambulate.

Reads like an alternative ending to the film “The Great Escape”. Glad to read that everything went as well as it possibly could.

good morning all :)

4.6 today

Rabbits, rabbits ;) it's looking a bit damp outside but I'm determined to walk mum's little dog today even if it's wet. Mr gee went over there on Friday and it was torrential, so Suzie (little dog ), puddle hound though she is, took one look outside and decided Nope!

High meat bangers with onion gravy and mash for mr. gee and his mum today, bangers with lots of cauli and broccoli for me ;)

Hope your day treats you kindly :)

Glad you escaped and made it home @ianpspurs :)

Good morning everyone, another day of wonder, weeding and watering - and perhaps the plucking of plums, pears, apples and sticky figs. The Russets are looking good this year.

The wonder wheel of a quiet evening following the return of the grandchildren returned a 5.1 at 0715.

Thank you @Debandez for sharing your excellent cruise with us - another one off my bucket list - Mrs Miggins is hankering after Iceland - have to wait and see.

Have a wonderful day if you can, white rabbits for everyone,
