What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.1 this lovely pink-and-blue dawn.

@ianpspurs thank you for posting the psalm. The first few verses of it were the theme song of one of the Christian radio stations where I used to live. Link below.

@Muddy Cyclist thank you for the info about the earplugs and headphones. I am in the same boat with Mrs MC, I cannot take loud noises, especially unnecessary ones.

@DJC3 I love the pics of young Dennis -- he looks very handsome in both -- and very different! So, he is now rid of the e-collar and able to go for regular walks again?

I checked the Internet on my phone when I woke up. Big hugs to everyone. :( Also hugs to children and grandchildren and @OldButBold for the tum and intestinal upsets. Such a miserable start to any weekend. I get those sometimes when I have tried to eat right. :banghead:

Glad the omelette worked. I think I should have had one too.
We’re not sure if Dennis is settled into his new look yet -it still gives me a shock to see him but it will definitely make it easier to clean him up after walks. It’s so muddy everywhere at the moment.
Hope your power stayed on for the rugby, or maybe it’d have been better if it went off?
Yes rugby was so disappointing though at least it was clear SA deserved it. Our power has stayed on and the wind has dropped a lot and its brighter. I imagine it was high seas in Cornwall early today.

We have severe weather warnings. I took D to Par sands this morning ( yes @SaskiaKC he has got rid of the cone now, thank goodness so can gambol to his hearts content)I nearly didn’t get there as some of the roads were flooded and there were branches down all over the place. I could hardly keep upright walking along the beach. D alternated between running around like a mad thing and sheltering behind the dunes.
Glad your power stayed on, hope it continues to brighten up.

Sounds dramatic and I’d still like to be there. Hope you and Dennis are now toasty in front of the fire. Take care if you go out again.

Thanks for all the congrats folks - think @jjraak and @Krystyna23040 are the latest 2 to thank. More importantly, is any of this true or just wishful thinking? - I can no longer work out who or what to believe but if any of it is true this may be helpful
A very interesting video - thank you for posting it. This week has been so hectic I have only just watched it.

Our poor old Labrador is very stiff today, I think his days of long walks my be over poor thing. I suppose our 8 mile was two or three times that for him with the ground he covered.
Hope your Labrador has recovered from his long walk. I have just started giving my 13 year old Labrador a supplement called youmove and he has definitely become more bouncy. My friend gives it to her elderly cat and is very impressed with the results - so much so that she says she is thinking of taking it herself. Hopefully she is joking.

[QUOTEI am="HarryBeau, post: 2160409, member: 329049"]Hi Saskia I had a call this afternoon about an hour after I returned from work...the whole litter had the virus which Wood Green have said is similar to the parvovirus that usually affect dogs...so all the kittens & their mother will be euthanised rather than suffer any longer the whole of their centre near my home is under quarantine it seems the kittens had it when they were first brought the centre before going to a foster home...they have other kittens with fosterers that are clear of it and will call me tomorrow with the details I do feel so terribly sad about losing Charlie & Lola we hadn't met them yet but the girls were so invested in them so I am not telling them unless I absolutely have to...I am very cross & angry with those who do not care for their animals responsibly and get them neutered/spayed...just feeling very very sad this evening.[/QUOTE]
@HarryBeau I am so sorry to hear about the poor kittens and their mother. Not surprised that you are feeling very very sad - especially when you were looking forward to giving then a lovely and loving home.

We felt so sorry for him so we gave him some Paracetamol, he's a bit thick so he thought it was a treat and it was gone in one gulp. It took him a good 24 hours before he was walking normal again, he seems OK for now but I think lots of short walks from now on. Thanks for info re supplement I will look out for it and give it a try.

Tonight I was at our sons for firework party, he's got a dog that looks very much like @DJC3 's Dennis, my granddaughters put him in their dolls pram where he sat calmly and watched the fireworks, sparklers and bonfire, later he was being dressed up as different characters from stories, he revels in the attention.

It's strange about animals and fireworks, our Labrador doesn't mind them but next door neighbours German Shepherd becomes a quivering wreck. Our two cats never minded them either. We keep our horses at Shugborough where they have huge firework shows throughout the year and on bonfire night, we used to worry and so would camp in a nearby field so we could keep our eye on them but there was never a need to worry as they would line up and watch them over the fence whilst occassionaly grazing.

I would like to try it myself. I thought about @Muddy Cyclist 's Labrador when I got home from walking with my neighbor yesterday afternoon. I felt very loosened up and energized when we got back indoors, but later than evening I could hardly move.
I was wondering if I could find some Banamine for humans -- we used to give it to the achy older horses after a good work.

@Muddy Cyclist I used to dog sit for a teenage Dalmatian who took 1-2 tablets of Bufferin (buffered aspirin) ground up beween two spoons, in her Gravy Train food.
Yesterday I took Tylenol Migraine, which is a combination of acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and aspirin.
The KittenCat hates fireworks; fortunately we don't have them at Hallowe'en.

I just found something that sounds similar, for humans, called iMove.

I love the story of your granddaughters dressing up their very patient pooch and putting him in their dolls pram. Our first dog was subject to the same pampering when my girls were small - she even had to wear a ballet tutu and join in the dancing shows they put on for us.
Fireworks were a nightmare for both our previous dogs, nothing we did would calm them down, it was awful. Not sure how Dennis will react but we are in a quieter area now so I’m hoping it won’t be too bad. I heard on the news that Sainsbury’s are stopping selling them which is a good start.

Good morning, so a 6.1 today, probably the stress as Mrs MC had to spend the night at her moms who is under the weather. I was worried because Mrs MC's mom has Alzheimer's, she lives in her own house with carers in and out three times a day. She is in a world without the normal socially accepted time patterns so will not give Mrs MC peace or sleep, it's happened before and made Mrs Mc ill for a week, unlike me she needs her sleep.

If the mist does not thicken I'm off for a Muddy BIke ride once it's light enough.

Do what you can to make your day great.
