What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Betty’s does a great cooked breakfast if you get in during the morning. Salads are also quite nice. If you are planning to eat out, search out The Tannin Level, went earlier in the year and managed to find nice things to have https://tanninlevel.co.uk/menus/

Thanks I really appreciate the tips. I had no idea Betty’s did savoury stuff - I’ve only been once, in York and as it was before I knew diabetes was looming, I just ate cake! Will definitely search out the Tannin Level, my pals will be really pleased by a recommendation.

5 this morning I want to put that number up in lights lol that's the first ever FBG 5 since I have been testing . It was 4.8 before bed was expecting a rise to at least 6 since it appears that I sleep walk to snack from the fridge during the night lol

Great result! What a cheery way to start the week

I have fond memories of Harrogate, although I haven’t been for over 30 years. Last time Mr C and I bought, on impulse, a huge, expensive, gorgeous rocking horse for our daughter, then 2 yrs old. We struggled to get it into our estate car and struggled even more to get it in our from door. Horse is still in use by grandchildren today though so was worth it ( not much mane or tail left mind you). Whatever Harrogate is like now, that won’t matter, it’s the company that counts.
I’ve a feeling you’re not really happy anywhere but your beloved fens.
I can see those memories of Harrogate being powerful. I do struggle with places at sea level and above but find an affinity with the Perigord Noir - could be because the people have the same understanding of the power of terroir on people, animals and plants.
@Cumberland great news on the cataract surgery and a good fbg to accompany it = win, win. @mojo37 congratulations and many more to add I am sure.

Ah right..;) I used to watch it on a Friday night as a child with our neighbours...you could hear a pin drop well before those drums started. Jack Lord and was it James MacArthur (Book’im Danno). You?

I loved the original and "Book’im Danno" became a catchphrase ;) I did watch the remake not long ago, it was ok but the original had so many other memories attached.

Back from the vet, where the KittenCat passed her senior wellness check with flying colors and appreciated being told she does not look 15. The vet did find a minuscule bump in her armpit that she said is too small to stick (I assume to draw fluid to check) and told me to NOT OBSESS about it and to check it once a month. I hope it IS just a mole or a fatty bump such as I have had for decades. Right now it has me feeling pretty freaked out, I'm glad the KittenCat doesn't know. When we got home she ate two lunches and some treats, took another bath, and is now curled up asleep in the chair by the window. I have the heat on for her.

On the way out to the vet, in the elevator, one of the neighbors let her dog sniff at the KittenCat, who hissed back. I had her on the floor behind me with me between her and the dog. I wish people would not let their dogs sniff at my cat and then tell me "Oh, it's OK, he won't hurt her!" Darn tootin' he won't! I like this particular dog, but when I stand between you and my cat I expect you to sit and stay. Put.

Sigh.

I have a large Labrador and I agree I hate it when every other dog owner thinks it's OK to let their dog come up and say hello. Here in the U.K we are currently plagued with dog walkers with dogs on long extendable leads, I hate them, keep your dogs under control on short leads for goodness sake. Sorry rant over.
Hope your cat is fine, always a worry these pets.
I’ll wave back!
Are wood burners going to be banned definitely? We have one and it can’t be beaten for cosiness, it’d be a real blow if we had to stop using it, although I know there have been grumbles along those lines for a couple of years.
I have no idea about total ban @DJC3 but the way the carbon footprint lobby are going I'm afraid it will probably end up that way, but not yet I hope.

Glad the KC passed her wellness check, but I agree it’s hard not to worry, it’s a bit of a cheek telling you not to obsess about her lump though.
I also hate the ‘Oh it’s OK he won’t hurt her/ you’ attitude of some dog owners. My daughter’s Great Dane is a very anxious dog, in spite of her size she is terrified of little dogs she doesn’t know. She wears a High Viz harness saying ‘Nervous Dog’ when she’s out but still people allow their dogs to run up to her saying that annoying phrase when my daughter calls to them to call their dog back.
I also hate those extendible leads @Muddy Cyclist they are really hazardous.

I had a dog owner go one better, I had stopped to take a picture when out on a bike ride when a Red Setter, usually friendly breed, came bounding up and bit my thigh, I screamed and said your dogs just bit me the reply was, "It is only being friendly it didn't mean it" I showed her the blood seeping through my Lycra tights and she still insisted the dog was only being friendly. The new generation of the dogs rights are greater than us humans. :banghead:

What a horrid person! Good grief. I frequently read posts from horse people about loose dogs at horse shows and barns. I have been attacked by dogs at barns but fortunately not bitten. A 39" dressage whip goes a "long" way to deter clueless dogs. I don't know if it would be of any use against a real attack dog but fortunately the few of those I have met have been fenced in or in their owners' cars. I remember a bumper sticker from years ago, on an SUV at a show: THE KEYS ARE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNDER THE ROTTWEILER.

Over here, if a dog had bitten a cyclist, or anyone else, it would have had to be impounded because of the risk of rabies. Is the UK still rabies-free? Even so, there is the risk of tetanus or other infection from animal bites.

My old MasCat had to be muzzled at the vet's, and had a note in her file about biting; they handled her with huge thick gauntlets. Even so, she used to scream the place down -- even before any needle came anywhere hear her. She was a cat-and-a-half! ^. .^ .

Good morning folks, 5.9 on the dice, have a lovely day all.

Good morning!

My printer has suddenly started telling me, "Load paper." I keep telling it I have done so. It keeps repeating itself. I keep reloading the paper. It was fine this weekend, printed some song lyrics very nicely.

I Googled the model and was told to clean the rollers, which I have done with an alcohol wipe. There is also said to be a Clean Rollers setting, but it is after midnight and I am going to leave that for later this morning.

The KittenCat has already gone to bed; I am going to join her. Goodnight-morning, everyone!

Morning...up early off to work around 07:30am... it seems to take longer & longer to make myself look half presentable...hopefully back before lunch time to fit in a quick walk with 'plumpy' trying hard to get back to a daily walk...I have noticed the difference in my BG levels when I've done some exercise...woke to a 5.8

It worked! My printer is copying again! Sure enough, its menu has a Maintenance selection, and that includes Roller Cleaning and Bottom Cleaning. I don't want to shock anyone, but I had no idea that printers need their bottoms cleaned!

Good morning and 5.9 for me today at 5 am.

Go carefully @HarryBeau I'm sure you look just fine, exercise is good, so we are told, puts my BG up initially but I always feel the benifit from the activity.

@SaskiaKC yes we are still free of rabies in the U.K. I hope you get your printer sorted when you arise.
Edit. Well done faster than my post could be sent.

Band rehearsals followed by recorder quartet rehearsal for me today so no time for a bike ride today.

Do whatever you can to acheive some happiness today and then share it around.

I have noticed a difference too when I've done some exercise. Have a good day, working and Plumpy-walking -- I imagine you look very presentable! :)
