What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

A wet good morning and a 5.7 here to keep me guessing as to why!

Good do see you @gennepher and here your progress.

Sorry you are going to have a Soggy Bottom Boys type of day, hope you have some good waterproofs.

A day of more rehearsals on the music front, have to get these notes into the correct order.

Keep dry and safe.

Okay. Up early again...

Fbg 7.5

The first reading taken in a week (because of Apple update problems, and I was concentrating on that and some issues surrounding it).

I think that fbg is amazingly good for me since I have not been checking anything.
And that jar of Nutella that was consumed spoonful by spoonful...in my defence daughter from Australia left that behind...but you know what, I did enjoy it :)

And I did have one other blip...in the fish and chip shop that does fresh caught daily fish, they also make a home made savoury. This is potatoes and herbs in the most amazing batter. I succumbed for the first time this year and got one.

Bad idea. Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed eating it. A piece of heaven. Oh but I felt ill for hours afterwards...too many carbs in the potato.

Otherwise I have been good with my eating this last week, still sticking to my eating routine of last few weeks. But I have been eating a little more.

Now, I need to get back into the 6's again for fbg.

About the other matter. The Apple update on my iPhone that wrecked the compatibility with my cochlear processor. I went to a meeting yesterday with other cochlear implantees. We have a coffee once a month and meet to help each other. There is an audiologist who comes and listens etc to our concerns.

They are mostly older people (I am old too!). The oldest is 86 years old. But they are not technologically competent. They can operate phones and tablets (which is brilliant since we are not of the age where we were naturally brought up with computers), but what shocked me was they didn't realise that it was software update that was causing their processor problems. They thought their speech processors were broken.

I gave the audiologist my written stuff and talked with her awhile. It seems the hospital audiology departments have been innundated with hearing aid users, Baha users, and cochlear users because they all thought their devices had broken down. And not understanding that a phone update by Apple can cause all these diverse problems.

There has been nothing on the web about all this specifically as regards MFi users (hearing aid/cochlear users), except more specialist forums, which most people don't appear to realise are there.

The audiologist couldn't understand why Apple couldn't correct the update quickly. This problem thing is still ongoing a month later for hearing aid and cochlear users, and is still causing problems.

The cochlear speech processor problems confused me initially, but I realised it was the Apple update that same day. So how is the average 80 year old, or even 90 year old (yes the oldest cochlear implantee from my hospital is 94), expected to understand the implications of a very bad Apple update, or what exactly is happening to them when the phone is now ringing at a loud level inside their skulls, when it never did that before. Apparently a lot of people were traumatised over this update.

Yet we need the phone and the app on it to control sound and sensitivity levels and to pair our devices to Bluetooth and to connect to Telecoil and much more.

And I cannot bear to hear unexpected noises or even sound alerts now.

It is reprehensible.

Anyway. I like my new Android to replace the iPhone. It is much better and has different features to help deaf people. All alerts are now silent, coming on to the lock screen, or some I have set as vibrating alerts, which I can feel even when the Android is on a table next to me as long as a part of my body is touching the table. I am very sensitive to any vibration.

Coffee beckons.

Cat wants feeding.

I want my morning nuts...salted cashews are my favourite.

Have a good day. Pouring with rain here. Under bedcovers day I think....

Doesn’t sound as though apple are rushing to fix this. They might of course and it could be a lack of information .

Good morning folks and for no reason it’s a dark o’clock start today. Well, there probably is a reason but so trivial or perhaps, drilling down, I just woke up and made the mistake of putting on a light.

The wonder wheel of slow roast breast of lamb and a later snack of flax seed crackers with cream cheese gave l lip smacking flat 5.0 this am.

Meeting up with daughter at lunch time. Such an amazing array of items that seem to be needed now for even the most minor, inconsequential, life moments; like giving birth (her due date is 17th November). Yesterday, she was looking, due to yet more advice from those merry midwives at the hospital, for some cooling facial spray to add to the Mary Poppins compendium bag needed for the hospital dash. Nothing like this exists in the dark and dangerous north so father was enjoined and after we fired up the steam generator, low and behold, the imps and goblins of the Amazon are sending out a batch together with some other items that we previously did not know existed.

Have a great day if you can, something unknown is doing something we know not - well, according to Arthur Edington.

OMG, just did not think @karen8967 ..what a klutz.:banghead:

Apology excepted

Thanks for the link.

I did do all that in the first place. But cochlear said to email apple on the issues with the update.

Also none of those ideas on the cochlear site worked. There was additionally a Bluetooth issue also whereby when Bluetooth was off, there should have been no connectivity with the iPhone and my processor, and certainly not alerts, yet I was still getting the phone ringing in my skull. This was not supposed to happen when Bluetooth was off.

People/friends didn't understand that and insisted if Bluetooth was off then I wouldn't receive anything through my processor. They even checked my Bluetooth was off!

I spoke to the audiologist yesterday about this and she said it was a known issue, still ongoing, and causing stress and distress to cochlear implantees.

I took my iPhone to show her and we tested it out yesterday, at the meeting, and the alerts were still happening in my skull despite Bluetooth being off. This was not supposed to be possible. She confirmed others were still having the same issue. The iPhone has been updated to the last update.

An online forum confirms this exact same issue.

Morning All. 5 is a popular one today, mine is 5.1.
Very bright start here unlike those of you further north so a good day for raking leaves. Meanwhile teax2 appropriate and toast. @gennepher I am full of admiration and not for the first time in how your are dealing with the cochlear implant problem. I do think Apple should step up and be way more helpful. @Krystyna23040 happy fbg we both seem to be back! @karen8967 hope 5 is ok for you, take care.
Have a great Thursday if you can. Stay well, stay safe.

Morning all. Not even a lesser festival for Willibrod of York or the hour I just put in on the exercise bike will expunge the stain of the 5.7 this morning. Watched A New Hypothesis of Obesity (Michael Eades) whilst cycling which did nothing but annoy me since I can't translate that into food I have a fighting chance of wanting to eat. Maybe I'll be a nicer , kinder little boy after shower, tea and morning worship. Have a good day and share your toys nicely. Test us, but not to destruction,

It does seem as though Apple did not consider cochlear implants when updating their systems. I truly hope that for the thousands of people using this system that they sort it out quickly, so far it seems as though they are stumped - will you be sticking to android in the future?

Was this Michael Eades hypothesis the linoleic acid (omega 6) stuff? Omega-6 = inflammation and Omega-3 anti-inflammatory?

Morning...a roast potato fuelled 6.4 greeted me this morning...we had roast chicken last night I was firmly convinced I could resist those gorgeous packets of soft fluffy goodness with their crisp golden jackets covered in garlic & rosemary...I was wrong & before anyone asks they were delicious...raining here...raining almost everywhere apparently a day for staying put...last night the first of the Christmas present wrapping for friends we're visiting Saturday we don't see them often so need to be ready...cheered as it's nearly Friday & more importantly that's BIN day.

Hey thats not a bad result for roast potatoes...you did say “they” were delicious. No potato compares to a crispy golden fluffy inside roastie imo. Fingers crossed I am waiting for Dec 25. :)

The very same at least on linoleic acid = bad. I don't remember him mentioning omega 3 much or, indeed, how life expectancy and quality of life for people with chronic or incurable illness has changed. Did make me peddle faster though:) There always seems to be a presumption that absolutely everyone can a) translate this stuff into actual food and b) the whole world will naturally enjoy that food. Yours, disgusted of Tunbridge Wells.
