What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

good morning all :)

was 4.7 yesterday and 4.2 today

we've had a busy week all things considered, after our visit from my brother +SIL and his Pudsey spotty car on Sunday we took mum out for lunch on Monday.

Mum bought a newspaper afterwards and elected to sit in the car whilst mr gee and I went in search of cauliflower in Asda on the way back home ;)

10 mins. later out we came, cauli's in hand and mum asked 'casually' ( but not very :hilarious:)," how far is Inverurie?"
Turns out Inverurie was several phone calls and an almost 9 hour round trip down the A9/A96 away on Wednesday which mr gee and I undertook in the lashing down rain and horrible traffic. Worth it really though

This is Katy - mum's new puppy, she's a miniature poodle :joyful:

Hope your day treats you well :)
Heart melting....

You know what day it is tomorrow? No....not Monday. Something much more important. ITS BIN DAY! Bin is out. Checked up and down the street, yep I'm right, grey bin this week. I'm getting really good at this malarkey.

Did anyone watch Strictly? Wasnt it incredible. In my hometown too. There were a few limos cruising around. Trucks and trucks of equipment, Vans and more vans. Queues of people dressed in their finery and that was just the staff! Lottery for tickets to get in. Luck of the drawer unless you are famous of course. I couldn't win an arguement (quite good really because the more arguments you win the fewer friends you have). Eric's birthday Tuesday so took him into town to buy him new trainers. It was rammed. Only just found a parking space. Good to see though. Money to be spent (or visa credit to be used).

I've bought all ingredients to try baking. Peanut butter cookies and chocolate rum truffles. Will be trying this week. Taking orders if they turn out edible!!

For those wondering about what to have for breakfast today try picking from this lot. The omelette chef is still here - amazing guy speaks and sings in at least 5 different languages.
https://www.elysium-hotel.com/en/restaurants/lemonia-piazza (try the virtual tour; champagne now on the way out to piazza; mostly Germans here atm) Evening meals are much the same - eat till you burst then hit the gym and pool early next morning seems to be the Tutonic way. As far as I can tell most Brits avoid the gym as far as possible.
Wow what a gorgeous hotel.

I’ve never visited Felbrigg Hall but just looked it up - it looks gorgeous, I hope you had a lovely walk.
We did have a lovely walk through the woods and the parkland and then coffee in the cafe.

The drive there reminded me of the first line in the Keats poem about Autumn - that it was the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. The countryside was shrouded in mist and it actually looked magical.

Speaking of Felbrigg Hall ...

I thought it looked lovely too, in the pics I saw. And they brought to mind a question I've had from reading some novels, in which some big house is described as being, e.g., part Tudor, part Georgian, with earlier sections and later styles added on over the centuries. Could the authors have meant something like Felbrigg Hall, I wonder? It looks like at least two different periods to me. But I don't know ... :)
You are right - it does look like at least two different periods.

So 5.6 this morning, hmm - although same as 2 hrs after evening meal which is highly unusual. Elizabeth of Hungary needed researching today -mixed emotions reading about her, sadness tinged with inspiration and guilt. Drinking my tea and preparing for an hour session with a personal trainer before another epic struggle avoiding all the temptations on offer for breakfast and the cabaret in 5 languages from the infamous omelette chef (German). Spa receptionist is Russian, guy at poolside bar is Bulgarian - impeccable English all. Have a great day, I'll try to bear up under this pressure:angelic:
Matthew 7 v12 seems to fit my mood and be good to share.

Good morning/evening folks, a straight 6.0 on the dice. Weekend spent with granddaughter in Rochester her course is full on, often working into the early hours on projects, struggling to keep up, not looking like it's going to get any easier, missing her family, lots of tears, not eating, just wanted to bring her home.

Must be heartbreaking @trick60 - take care and prayers for granddaughter. Hopefully the rewards for all this pain will eventually be worth it for her.

Good Morning with a 5.2 for me today.

Late home last night after an afternoon and evening of music rehearsals for the next gig so lots of posts to catch up on.

Today is carpet laying day at Mrs MC's moms so lots of furniture moving, getting in old carpets and underlay before the fitters arrive, a long hard day ahead.

Keep warm one and all.

Hugs to you and to her. I felt much the same way my first quarter at Auburn. Now I would love to live there. :)

I have been outside the last hour and a half in the cold and dark, drinking tea from my Crazy Cat Lady mug, trying to see the Leonids.

Because my new android camera phone has night sight I experimented to see if it would take photos of stars (I think night sight is really meant for low light conditions, not pretty near pitch black).

I have light pollution both sides from neighbours security lights. But I managed to identify several star constellations, a half bright moon which is interfering with seeing the Leonids (Leo is to the right of the moon), several aeroplanes blinking their way across the sky, one satellite, and one shooting star!

I also managed to take a photo of the Big Dipper despite the light pollution of security lights and the bright moon.

I am now back in bed with another cuppa trying to warm my posterior...

Cat thinks I am crazy going outside at night. He actually looked shocked at me and scooted back inside. A good job he did or I might have tripped over him in the dark. They do say if you lie on the ground you can see the night sky better. But I would never have been able to get back up again...

@trick60 big changes for your granddaughter, hard for family also, feel for you. Seems pressures on youngsters in education are so much worse than I remember them back in the 60's.

@Krystyna23040 we visited Fellbrigg Hall in June when visiting Norfolk which was a very enjoyable visit on a much different day weatherwise, sun and warmth, a lovely old house and grounds.

@gennepher well done! I have always loved star gazing and yes lying down really helps. When abroad, warmth and no light pollution, I love to lie out on sun loungers into the dark hours after midnight just watching and listening, there are always so many shooting stars and a 3 dimensional layer of stars, magical.

@ianpspurs all sounds wonderful to me, maybe get in some star gazing.

6.2 this morning and my reason for getting up early just texted to say they can't make it. Oh well, I'm up now so may as well get ready and go for a walk :)

Really impressed with that photo, I've never been able to take a picture of the stars on my phone.
