Keto forever...

Is it safe to stay on Keto forever my HbA1c was 110 and eight weeks later I got it down to 58. People have said that eating too much bacon sausage and saturated fat will lead to me reversing my diabetes but ending up with heart disease, when I’ve got down to non diabetic levels should I ditch Keto?

Do you feel good?
Losing weight (if you needed to)?

Why would you want to stop a way of eating that has enhanced your health?

If you do ditch keto when you get to non diabetic levels, depending on what you swap to your diabetic levels may return.

I feel great lost 4 inches off my waist line, some people have always got something negative to say...

There’s a lot of myth and controversy right now concerning saturated fats and heart disease. In your shoes (and I have been/am) reading up on the more recent evidence that the theory of the last 50yrs that sat fats will kill you is largely wrong and misrepresented may put your mind at rest @Bulkbikers thread has all the info and links you could ever want.

I’m far less concerned about my cholesterol levels now and in any case they have all improved since tucking away on a lot more fat than before diagnosis and LCHF.

I agree. Ignore “people” and make up your own mind having done the research.

I find the concept of KETO rather vague - after the very precise handling of diet to maintain ketosis from Dr Atkins I suppose anyone would.
You might like to look for a copy of New Diet Revolution - I have a couple of versions but the 2003 version is my main one. Combining meter readings with the food lists and menu advice you might find that the idea of long term low carb is not quite so daunting.
