What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Tragedy for Kobe Bryant's wife and family losing him and 13 yo daughter in crash. I had never heard this poem before and never attained his level as an athlete but boy does it resonate with me. Payers for that family, those of the murdered English footballer and all athletes who struggle after retirement. A few posts - mine included - are often tinged with feelings of loss of pleasures from food no longer on the menu. He seems to have handled a greater loss far better. Huge respect for him having heard that poem https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/basketball/51256110
Very honest words from his heart and soul. We can only reflect on the fragility of life whether you are a prince or pauper. We can only pray.

Morning All. 5.8 and defo still learning. Yesterday was a strange one insofar as I had fbg 6.5 ate brunch of bacon & eggs and then nothing for 8 hours but at 6pm I tested 5.8 which surprised me. I am doing my best most of the time but I dont control this, I try to, it controls me. Profound but I guess many of you feel the same. But on I go.
Monday already and last week of January. Lots of very satisfactory cupboard clearing out yesterday with Mr PM as usual found surprising items. Hoping to go on the market next month but we need new facias and soffits after a battering by the weather in the last 6 months.
Have a great Monday if you can. Stay well, stay safe.
Best wishes for marketing and the longed for opportunity for Mr PM to take it easy. One would hope Mrs PM may also be afforded a little more leisure.

why?

I had tinned fruit and double cream again. As I have said before I have dry mouth and throat due to Sjögren's syndrome, and this is so comforting to my throat and mouth during the night and meansI don't have to take my several different dry mouth meds in the night. But this is absolutely no good for my blood sugars.

The thing is there is artificial sweeteners in my prescribed dry mouth meds. And I don't like artificial sweeteners. I have researched all this and tried to find something different, but it comes down to food again as the best natural thing to help my dry mouth. But the foods I need to eat for my dry mouth raise my blood sugars. The Speech and Language therapist said to eat the foods I need to eat for my dry mouth and throat, and we will give you extra/more diabetic meds. She said you have to eat, and you need to eat to keep your throat lubricated so it doesn't seize up. and when my throat seizes up my airway seizes up because it is next to it...I have a spray I always carry now so I am ready the second it seizes up.

I am not going down that road with extra diabetic meds.

You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't...

So frustrating.

Just so tired of it all.

Back to the drawing board...

ButI am still here, to mither you all with my daily painting challenge...creaking gates last the longest...

I will have a look at your earlier posts, then I will have a nap...electric blanket is on...cat is already asleep on top of me, heated steam eye mask is ready at my side...and I will meditate...

Have a good Monday...
Have fun...
Have some hugs out of the bottomless basket of hugs whether you need them or not...

Winner for the art and sheer refusal to be cowed by anything or anyone. Real "have at" approach to life. Now rest, meditate and inspire us again when you are ready.

In mathematics, the Pythagorean theorem, also known as Pythagoras' theorem, is a fundamental relation in Euclidean geometry among the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides. This theorem can be written as an equation relating the lengths of the sides a, b and c, often called the "Pythagorean equation":[1]

{\displaystyle a^{2}+b^{2}=c^{2},}

Just saying....
In Apache villages, the squaw on the hippopotomus hide is equal to the sum of the squaws on the other two hides. The origin of the hippopotomus hide popping up so far from home is an advanced discussion when drawing a circle in the sand and moving a radii stick round it in search of animal sign - or even animal co-sign. It’s very tangental and a bit wavy round the edges.

Hugs for the dry throat issues and the frustration of the tinned fruit dilemma. It is so unfair I am mad on your behalf. Does it work if you avoid the juice? Or maybe have smaller quantities? Probs no help at all just wish you could solve it.
Thank you for today’s painting. It instantly reminded me of the path to the beach from a house we holidayed at once. Take care Gennepher and have a good day.

Yes I did cut back on the cream in coffee and usually take it black now. I found I was just using too much cream so my between meal fasts, weren’t really fasts at all.
I’ve surprised myself by quite enjoying black coffee now - never thought I’d get used to it. It also makes things much easier when having a coffee out.
The trick with fasting between meals is not to have anything that will trigger a response - even one cup of tea with milk will break a fast. I tend to have green tea in the morning and black koffy up to around noon - then breakfast at that time. A big tablespoon of Inulin a couple of hours before I go to bed seems to keep things running flat during the night. Note - only been eating protein (ish) this month.

Good morning everyone from the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of of complex mazes and jumanji surprises rocked in with another 4.4 this a.m. - It’s in one of those leading up the garden path routines I think - but difficult to tell.

Grandchildren coming out of our ears yesterday - the youngest one is now over the two month hurdle and onto the first rung of the “interesting” ladder - unless, of course, you get just one teeny tiny thing wrong, like “why have you stopped moving” and then everything reverts to a series of Jonny Morris in the cage with the howler monkeys.

Have a wonderful day if you can, must go, my Koffy is pleading to be brewed.

It's OK for you guys hiding behind the new Blue Wall with your exotic European Koffy ways and fancy Liberaces . What about us JAMS soon having to live in the kingdom of (Matt) Hancock's half hour?. West Suffolk Hospital apparently has Sid James as Chief Executive and Hattie Jacques as Matron.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who can't solve the simultaneous equation that is diabeties.

A very worrying 4.5 for me and me's this morning, so for breakfast I had porridge made with water and didn't take any insulin, I shall be testing 2 hours after, but I have taken a host of other medication which will have an effect.
I was expecting a reading of approximately 7.0 .
If you wondering why things are complicated read my profile.

Sometimes life is fun, I enjoyed the mathematical posts this morning, it's a good job I'm sane....well nearly. Have a great day folks and being left unsupervised by Mrs J today I can bark at the postman ( other genders available ) as much as I like.

Unknow to some, that there blue wall was promised to be in a nice Asp of Jerusalem, all nice and yellow until you squeeze it and then it turns blue - should be called the Nick Clegg plant. We like our woad in the north, it reminds why we don’t swim in the sea. Your strange leader of the kingdom of Hancock’s half hour should travel to China where they seem to be able to build new hospitals in just a couple of weeks.

Takes longer to build anything in Suffolk as builders are prone to Suffolk ups. The HR Dept typo in the person specification asking for Proles not helpful either.:angelic:

4.9 today. Sharply rising within a few mins to 5.7 when I realised the time (8:45) which is much later than usual and poor Dennis’ bladder would be bursting. Libre showed an arrow pointing straight up ( rapid rise). In the great scheme of things this isn’t really a stressful situation so it just goes to show what effect proper stress could have.
@alf_Josiah I hope you manage to juggle your meds and considerable health problems to get back into a safe zone and stop frightening the postman.
@gennepher I think today’s painting is my favourite so far. I like the idea of light at the top of the stairs better than light at the end of the tunnel, more of a sense of achievement when you get there. I hope you can find a way to ease your dry mouth without eating sugary stuff, what a choice! I’m full of admiration for you refusing to just accept more diabetic meds.
@dunelm yes, agree about the black coffee. I’ve surprised myself by finding it as satisfying and enjoyable as CWC.
&PenguinMum good luck with the house marketing. Things are meant to be looking up but we haven’t had a realistic offer on ours yet.

good morning all :)

4.7 today

It was lovely of mum to make it but the haggis dinner yesterday was a bit of a mixed blessing, hadn't realised quite how many carbs were in the haggis :sorry: and mum, bless her, made the trad veggie mix of carrot and turnip (which may have been swede :hilarious:), mashed together with a dish of mashed spuds on the side :p

Fortunately she knows I don't much eat potato ;) and also fortunately I'd taken a lc sponge and lashings of full fat yoghurt for my pudd.

Normal service menu will be back today, soup for lunch and possibly curry for dinner.

Hope your day treats you well :)

Oh...I am currently looking out of my bedroom window at a Sparrow-hawk...he/she is watching carefully...

Mmhh..beginning to suspect you are NOT who you say you are...?

i NEVER see you and HIM, together..

So call me mad.....BUT are YOU Clint Eastwood*...???

Much respect for your attitude to life..much to teach me and others i think.

(meant to reflect an 'Older' person not so set in their ways they can't adapt to life & move forward, deffo NOT one for giving in and willing to stand up for themselves, and others regardless)

*Recommended movie..don't judge it.
at best a gritty reality..Korean vet, sees too many die..dislikes the neighbours, until.

Slow yet smouldering as it builds to the end
GRAN TORINO..(left subtitles in, not sure it that will appear in link, but can be added on viewing.)

IMDB rate it HIGHLY 8.1

Update
11:45am approx 2 1/4 hrs since breakfast and no insulin my blood sugars were 8.2 .
So what have I learnt from this, perhaps I should have had 10 units of insulin, but in reality 8.2 is not that bad just slightly over " normal " levels.
Onwards and upwards on the never ending learning quest.

Remember have fun, we pass this life but once unless we are Buddhists or so I have been told, if that is true then I shall become a Buddhist and can I return as a bra? I have always wanted a supporting role in life.

Whoop whoop HELLO Monday Morning...:D:D:D

Out yesterday, drinks with friends from last job AND then we all went an Indian Buffet in Ealing to boot..(top nosh, recommended)

So to find that today, the giver of Love AND pain, O Meter of Guesses, returned me a very fresh & delicious 5.3...
Joy oh joy.:)

so another week begins for me here on the Plains of Love..

In a GOOD Mood this morning..like it quiet in mornings, usually.
but .this AM awoke with a song in my head 'ride it',

so it's "Alexa, play My music, " intending to find ride it...
But first thing up..the Pogues and Fairytale in New York.

always a fav at family Meets especially around Christmas..so it's a natural song to play at my Mums funeral reception
( so warm memories there)
then i went onto fields of athenry..the updated version from 2016 euros..Love these big tournaments, when Ireland qualify even more so..(see 4:46 when Irish Fans 'Riot'..Lol :hilarious::hilarious:..)
(yes, we are lovely, and yes we see the Craic in everything, but we ARE Mad :pics:)

lose we sing, win we sing..and always happy to send anyone home with a cheerful song..

also, while looking (weakly, admittedly) for work, an opportunity MAY have come up, from the friend of a friend type of thing.
so fingers crossed it's something i can do AND i like it.:D..
