What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

never seen it so quiet, was as stated mid Jan, but rarely have we been the only diners, above the ground floor.
Tbh JJ its probably due to the fear of Coronavirus if the Chinese themseves are staying away whether that is rational or not . Many will have visited relatives in China in the last several weeks and its only this week that commercial flights have been curbed.

good evening all :)

was 4.6 this morning

out all day at the big shed volunteering, it was pretty noisy with heavy rain drumming on the roof most of the day ;) had a nice LC meal on the way home so now we're chilling with a mug of tea and I'm catching up on the thread :)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

Ah! A pheasant plucker - Do you sift thistles?

She is a thistle sifter
and she has a sieve of sifted thistles,
and a sieve of unsifted thistles,
and the sieve of unsifted thistles
she sieves into the sieve of sifted thistles.
Because she is a thistle sifter.

I only managed the first line!

You had been doing so well up to that post.:angelic:
My grandad put me off tea for life when I was a lad of 10. He made it with boiled Steralised Milk ( I think that's what it was called) no water, loads of sugar, I still feel sick at the thought of it. So strictly a coffee drinker, but if it helps only quality made coffee non of this instant stuff.

So having found the fence behind my corner seat and a Holly Tree trunk I thought I best paint it, water colour, about A4 25 mins.

Up earlier, but out to meet Lauren for lunch.

had a good week so far...all mornign FBG's and pre food BG's in the McGarett Zone..Love it

Out monday gym
Tuesday Lazy day
wed met our steph in chiniatown.
(yeah, i know..we discussed it before we went.. we live in london, use tubes all the time or buses, how do all the people get anywhere, Chinese, tourists, locals, all by TUBE or BUS..so no safer on the tube then Chinatown so we risked it.)

Nice beer in De Heims a dutch bar in Chinatown itself,mmhh... Mid week, early jan, but it 'felt' quieter all round.

Wander off after a nice catch up to the wong kei, been going for years, 5 floors of restaurants lots of chinese., normally..always a good recommendation, in my book, for any foreign food is if their nationals eat there.)

But it was like the marie celeste when we got to first floor...
(ground had a few in, but rare to be seated downstairs.)
never seen it so quiet, was as stated mid Jan, but rarely have we been the only diners, above the ground floor.

BUT food was nice..duck noodle, salt n chilli spare ribs, steph had shredded steak with vegetables,
(that steak was EXCELLENT, Btw)

Off to M & M world, (dear God.) ..4 floors of sweetshop selling...M & M's...only..
really JUST M & M's :wideyed:

View attachment 38245
well merchandised to be fair, every thing and anything you could wish for with M & M's on
and the power of marketing... we pooh pooh'd it as we walked around YET STILL ended buying a box of Colourful sweeties for stephs flatmate at an exorbitant price..hey ho.

Home later...some 3+ hours after meter says 6.2..so not too bad.

I’m so glad the Wonk kei is still going strong. I used to work round the corner in Covent Gdn and we went there very often. Are the waiters still as rude? It wouldn’t be the same if they were friendly and polite.

Thay have improved some what.

it was an 'experience' to be served in there i must be honest, back in the day.

We used to go after work, so not the best custoemrs for the waiters, but still.

my best experiences as i recall.

*ordering wine for the wife and beer for me.
Both got beer.."should have been quicker to order"...:wideyed:

* assorted times asked for chopsticks, refused because we wouldn't be able to use them.. (really  )

* various time as a group we all ordered what we liked, and then wanted to order something we would NEVER try if alone..Ducks webbed feet, anyone :***:..sea snails..
Only to be refused as "You no like them"..end of chat

* shared a tabke with one guy, who had poor hygiene, shall we say, not of our group..so we helpfully put on the fan above our heads, to waft the 'oudour ' away.
.except the waiter took umbrage and switched it off, no debate, we then had a spirited discussion with him, on the merits of the fan, as we switched it back on..he then removed fan plug and tapped it to wall...hahaha

But the best and most outrageous, ( and it helps here if you have ever seen Eddie Murphy in Delirious, the Chinese waiter scene, for special won ton..*too rude for here...any way i think our guy had seen it and was offended by it, so we got the brunt)

as we ordered a lot of food, pay day and big bonuses, blah, blah, and, ever so slightly drunk Hic..:bag:
waiter asked if we were finished, said we were.....quite a bit of food left.:sorry:

Waiter then circled his fingers to shape glasses, pressed them to his eyes, and said
"YOU Europeans.... EYES too big For BELLY "..and walked off, leaving table and plates undisturbed....:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

have to look back and remember they were ALL rude back then, it was like their theme thing..some have music, some have roller skates, the wong kei had wrist slashing comments if you weren't thick skinned..

Saw more then one or two, kick off over the 'rudeness', being swiftly escorted off the premises as the same waiters gleefully relaid the table for next dozen or so queuing up to get in.

I bet you remember queuing on the stairwell, hoping the wait wouldn't be too long, and the table group would at least pleasant..

still great prices and the food is still VERY good.

ahh happy days , hey..

Oh you’ve cheered me up no end ( not that I was miserable) that’s really made me laugh. I well remember queuing up the stairs, we used to go after work too, it was early to mid 80s was that your era? What a hoot if we’ve actually been table buddies!

No millenial or gen z, me, i fear..:sorry:

Wow, for the top post. A Cambridge man once told me that as a foreigner I could probably get a UK job with specialized skills ... unfortunately I am no more skilled at brewing coffee than I am at painting/drawing. ...

Oh, well, can anyone live in London on £40,000 a year?

Bummer, for the bottom post (no pun intended). I don't like herbal teas. They're not teas, they're tisanes, and if their popularity brings about the downfall of true teas, that would indeed be what the writer of the article calls a traves-tea. :(

Good Morning and 5.9 for me, too close to 6.

Granddaughter day, on our own as Mrs MC is busy this morning, so pleanty of unbridled fun awaits. Then all family for meal tonight, so @jjraak and @ianpspurs get your ear plugs out its going to be a racket :singing:

Get on your bikes if you can, good for your carbon footprint and saves on shoe leather.

PS it's never too late you are never too old, my Greatgran was still cycling at 99
