What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you for the info about the futon. I have actually only slept on a couple, the last one was very hard and it was only for one night. Not exactly a good trial period. :)
I had a futon bed in my last place. Yes, it was hard but I liked it and it was good for my back. I slept on it for about 10 years or more @SaskiaKC
However I did have it hand made for me. And I could chose the thickness I wanted, so I chose a very thick one. A ‘normal’ thin one that you see is absolutely no good at all.

Thank you, @dunelm. :) Is that siSwati? (It's been a long time since I learned some from friends ...)
I thought I heard, somewhere faintly off in the distance, a voice: "Wait, Rose, it's too bloomin' cold up there!"

@blacknjr Welcome to the thread! :)

Either the thread or my laptop is starting to act up ... better go find out what the problem is ...

Thanks. :) The last one I slept on, about 5 years ago, was a very thick, solid one. Very comfortable for sitting, and I slept well on it. But then, I like a very firm mattress.

I thought Booths was the Frozen North alternative to Waitrose? We have a Morrisons locally. They are competitive on price at least for whole salmon, almond milk and pork shoulder but I would never consider them as alternatives to Waitrose. Bone marrow burgers not as good as ultimate ones they replaced. Glad carnivore month went well for you. Would be a step too far for me. You are obviously hale and hearty but where does the oft quoted need for we wrinklies to eat more protein figure in this optimisation of bg levels versus wider issues?
Boothes, I think, are all west of the A1, nothing that fancy on the eastern seaboard. Not sure about eating more protein when we start going wrinkly - I am trying for the 0.7-0.8g per kg body weight for the protein - sometimes in, sometimes out. It’s not much so have to add fat which some folk don’t like that much.

Interesting re Booths. I'm not opposed to fat on principle just don't really like the forms in which LC/keto suggests it is obtained.

The word Si in Swahili usually means no or not.

I know what you mean. I have been experimenting with making a sauce/gravy with beef bone broth that I make by adding it the the pan with the meat cooking, reducing a little and then thickening with butter. It seems to be easy on the palate and not give a greasy feeling.

One of our supermarket treats is a visit to Booths in Ripon. Little over an hour down the motorway from us. (Mentioned already that our lives are now geared towards visiting different supermarkets, really sad isn't it.) Not that we buy a lot from there as so much more expensive but have currently got a portion of mixed game casserole meat and some frozen rabbit sections that we bought just before Christmas, might be a bit too lean of course. but I really need to make something interesting with them.

At home we seem to have moved our allegiances from Morrisons to Tesco extra, hubsta's processed ham that he cannot live without tastes better from Tesco or so he claims. Lidl for Greek yoghurt though.

@trick60 freezer has not been off, or moved. Builders were upstairs.
@PenguinMum @DJC3 @jjraak @Ryhia @SaskiaKC thanks to all for sympathy and hugs. They do actually make me feel better.
Despite overindulgence last night FBG was 6.0

@SaskiaKC great news about the move, I agree with @PenguinMum and @jjraak that a futon may not be the best idea. We had one as a spare bed for a while, it was supremely uncomfortable as a bed and little better as a seat.

Thank you for the tip! :)

@SaskiaKC could you take an uber to a bed superstores and test out some options, if you find a style/brand you like you dont have to order it there just look on line for the best price. If thats not possible ask Google for comfy bed recommendations. Off out now have a great day with the KC.

Thank you. :) I actually went out twice this past week! and I'm planning to go to another store this coming week. :) That is a LOT of getting out and about for me. One of the nicest parts about taking Uber is meeting the drivers, who are from all over the country and all over the world. Sometimes I wish the rides were longer, as the conversations are always enjoyable.
I always wear slip-on shoes so I can slip them off before lying down on a mattress. They are not my most comfy shoes, however ... ;)
Last night I saw an online ad for a mattress that said "You deserve a better mattress!" I sent them an e-mail: "You're right! I do! Do you offer senior discounts?" We shall see ...

Oh, yes, an even 8 this morning. I ate late last night. I tried to eat less than usual yesterday, with the result that I felt kind of ill and wonky all day; finally succumbed to a midnight feast of baked beans and bacon ...

Thanks. The sauce/gravy sounds promising for next winter. I can cope with spring and summer - salad is my comfort zone.

Next time you nip down to Ripon you might call in at Cockburn’s in Bedale. They also do online shopping if you like game and all things meaty. http://www.cockburnsbutchers.co.uk/
