What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.9 this morning and I find I have to travel across the city, so an hour on public transport.

I have no doubt that I will contract the virus at some point because that's how they work. My friend in Wales has requested all my electronics and said if he goes first I can have his wife. I'm not sure that's a fair exchange though, my computer is nearly new and his missus has been around a while and is rubbish at searching the net ;)
The funny @OldButBold was for the wife swap....
But here is a distance e-hug to keep you safe on public transport.

Love it!! Wrap your scarf around your face and wear gloves...throw gloves away when you return or chuck in washing machine at very high temp.....balaclavas could become big fashion but not worn with fatigues.

Morning...beasts fed & had their hours play outside even though it's raining & cold I had to lure them in with food otherwise they ' thumb'd up' me when I called them...breakfast on the stove some fat sausages & bacon with another cup of good coffee...watched the news the Care Minister Helen Whateley a typical Boris devotee who refused to be pinned down to whether or not there's a change of direction from the govt. on shutting down large gatherings (the BBC used mass gatherings too sensationalist for me )...the interview ended with the 'wash your hands advice' why she was interviewed no idea so lightweight & 'jolly hockey sticks' about as much use as a fart in a lift...woke to a 6.5

Sympathies to you all @Muddy Cyclist. This is my concern too. So far mum's nursing home have introduced extra precautions such as requiring all visitors to wash hands in a designated area before entering the main part of the building and isolating and monitoring individual residents in their rooms if they have any unusual symptoms of any kind but I don't think it will be long before they will stop visits as there are so many vulnerable residents. Hard times indeed.:(
The home is keeping everyone informed and giving lots of assurance on whatsapp, not the same as visiting but at least you feel that they are making a real effort with communications. There is no easy solution and I hope your mum's home finds an acceptable solution for your family.

Just ordered some Cuticura Hand Sanitiser from Amazon 150ml for 14.99...the prices have risen similar to the panic buying on toilet rolls & stock piling foods if you can afford it then buy it...some of the other pricing was outrageous & on many you had to buy in bulk...there is some talk of self testing kits for those who can afford to self fund them...so this virus could be a two tier virus...if you can afford to buy extra protection do...if not tough...we need to strike a balance here I agree with @jjraak these products should be provided free or at cost for everyone not just the few.

Woke As usual at 7am, bit my fell asleep again. MrSlims alarm woke us both @
8.30AM. FBG 6.9 AM thinking this is from unintentional very late dinner last night.
Now have to try and balance the work rate v FBG. Lighter evenings means MrSlim works longer. Lots to do still. Actually impossible amount to finish in time. 2 hours extra work a day... that would help. Must keep trying to get him up earlier. Move the workday forward would help a lot. Today painting bedroom 1 walls. We decided yesterday the colour was too dark, it's now diluted with 50% white. Not sure we will get two coats on today but hoping to.
Have a good weekend folks do some relaxing for me.

Made me laugh, but quite a serious consideration for you if you are having obliged to travel by bus so a hug as well.

You are waaaaay too late for the computer, my friend had dibs on that the moment he laid eyes on it. That's why I sleep with one eye open :)

Nothing maudlin in contemplating what is actually a 'risk assessment'. You can't beat the virus with blunt force, it's a top tier predator. What you can do is assess your current immune status and modify/add anything that will strengthen your position. After that, it's just 'wait and see'

Here's an analogy. You find that you have to swim with sharks, you have no choice whatsoever. You can't simply shoot the sharks as they are immune to you. The only thing you can do is look at how you are equipped to swim with them and improve whatever you can, chain-mail, shark repellent, and so-on ;)

@gennepher That is awesome, I shall print it off. Love it :cat:;)

Good morning everyone from the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel fueled by some excellent crab, hunted and gathered at the market yesterday came in at 4.5 this am.

I am now into two step cleaning. It involves dancing but each person must wear a hoola hoop to indicate safe zones. Just gaffa tape it to your back. A crinoline dress works just as well but they have sold out. No paracetamol in the shops yesterday - good grief!

Have been looking at things to occupy my mind if I end up in lock down and have decided to dig out my old slide rule and see if I can return to 1968 when I last remember using it. Mind you, it needs a bit of upgrading so am fitting headsets and attempting to bluetooth it to the jelly vision.

Have as great a day as you can. @DJC3 - whippet says “hi” - well, I think that that was the meaning. Koffy.

I am relying on plain soap and water which works much better than hand gels. I do have some wipes in my coat pocket. Similarly I am upping my vitamin C intake - I already have other vitamins and minerals. Still going out but am mindful of distance. Bottom line is that most folk will end up getting it. Droplets have a habit of drifting about in the breeze.
Thanks for the prod about leaving things for people, Must promise all these loo rolls to offspring and get entered into my will.

5.3 today so happy with that.

Helping daughter decorate her house so very busy trying to get that nice before they go on holiday. Lanzarote Wednesday. Can't say I'm happy about the decision to fly but she is a young adult and I can no.longer tell her what she can and cant do :-(

Apart from that I'm just watching the news! All bad. That said, I'm on Twitter and they are in lockdown but still managing flashmobs! Wonderful to see them all come together in times of such adversity.

This is one of many:

It the worse comes to the worst, I have some methylated spirits in the house. Know it contains some alcohol as there used to be a notorious alcoholic I knew who used to drink the stuff. It will also have the bonus of the smell keeping everyone away from me. On the down side, I could go up in a blue light.

If I have any money left after the market free fall, self testing kits would be a good use for it. We have been looking after a couple of the grandkids overnight and they have not got a clue about washing hands. However they self isolated themselves in their bedrooms for most of the time. Ipads may turn out to be a blessing after all.

5.4 today, another busy day ahead helping daughter. And trying to cram everything in due to possible imminent lockdown. Ensuring social distancing as much as possible. Cancelled a meal out with girlfriends last night. 9 of us booked in an Italian restaurant but we all felt the same.

Absolutely fizzing about the SACN report. I'm not alone on this.

Hopefully we can all do our bit (deadline 30th April) to make change happen and give feedback. We need as many as possible from this forum and as many others to come together to dispute ludicrous findings as per article. Absolutely gutted that nobody is listening to us. Devastating.
