A long day...
First of all I found my doorbell does not work. Of all times to pack in.
Changed both lots of batteries, cleaned terminals. Still dead as a dodo. It is 20 years old..

Last year I was looking for doorbells. To replace this one at some point. But nothing flashed the way I needed it to, and I wasn't paying for specialist stuff ( I couldn't afford it anyway). Then I saw something on Amazon that was too cheap to be true.
This was last summer. Customer's photos and video showed the way this doorbell flashed through a rainbow of lights when it rang. It was 2 for £9.99. Too cheap to be true...yeah? When I tried it out I loved the rainbow colours that flashed. But when I put the push bit outside, I realised it would let in water. And I realised the bell push was really for an indoor apartment complex. But I kept it with a view to covering the bell push with something.

I am so glad I did, because I doubt I would have been able to buy a doorbell now. I covered the bell push with clear plastic. It was easy enough to do.

A friend is sending me some parcels which is why I needed a working bell!

What is it that people don't understand about this lockdown? Children were playing in a group in this cul de sac, they don't even live here, they came in from the next road. Then the neighbour (and his wife) next door, who is the not very nice neighbour, had his daughter there today and his two grandchildren. Then over the road there is a woman and her grown up son, but more of the extended family live in the next road, so children were wandering between the houses, and adults too. And more. You wouldn't know there was a lockdown in place. These people are going to ruin it, the bit of freedom we have to shop, for the rest of us who are abiding by the rules. I am waiting for the body bags, or the army, it's a toss up which arrives first.

Then I went on Amazon to order some things, but I found that many deliveries from Amazon are not going to arrive until mid May. I wanted some seeds, tomato, nasturtiums, kale etc. They were in my save for later. Well they are either sold out now, or because they are not termed as essential food, are not going to be delivered until mid May. Useless. It is food I wanted to grow. So that has knocked that idea in the head.

I wanted a bit more dried food, veg and fruits and seeds and dried full cream milk. They were in my save for later. But n the minute it took me to to bring them up to pay for them, then suddenly one was sold out, By the the time I realised what was happening, something else had vanished, sold out.

It took me an hour, and holding my breath most of that time, to try and find something similar. And prices had gone up £2.50 more here, and a fiver there. Absolutely not, I will do without first...

Finally I got there. So some chia seeds, almond flour, freeze dried blueberries, dried eggs, and long life almond milk will be coming in the next few days.

My digital painting for today using SketchClubApp, and a silhouette app for the trees and birds.

And Lauren?
Ah yes.
Agree it's still regarded as essential worker.
We have had a few emotional moments.

She's tough, but this has got her scared..
Unbelievable, we have a lock down, 2 meters blah blah, then we cram the tubes with people..:banghead:

I'm taking her to work, and fetching her in evening.
I shouldn't really be out, by rights, but what can you do.. And I'm sure many are making similar calls for differing reasons..

BUT i drafted an email last night
Madam approved it, and today she handed in.

Went through all the points, and company have agreed in principle to her being furloughed.

She has agreed to go in for the remaining of the week, out of loyalty and so the other girls possibly still have a company to return to once this is all over.

Not entirely happy, but the relaxing of traffic restriction makes it as risk free as possible.

Next week . Who knows.
Each week now seems miles away from the one before.

Stay well PM .

Hey. The KittenCat and I are fine. Thank you. :)
How are you and your household doing?

I have to schedule my move-out date here with my move-in date in the little town, because the rents at both places are federally subsidized , so there can't be any overlapping of tenancies. (I think that's the right word.) I have to have officially vacated my present apartment and turned in the keys before I can officially move into the other one and get its keys from the management there.

The KittenCat knows something is up -- she's been talking to me all day and hasn't really settled down til a few minutes ago, when I lay down here on the bed with her.

I wish you and the KC all the very best. Remember she will be happy and relaxed wherever you are the same.

@gennepher hugs for the difficult day. I think, but what do I know, everyone promising online deliveries need to start prioritising BIG TIME. They have been gathering all this info about us through loyalty cards (for their benefit not ours) so high time to use those “experts” to prioritise and not enough to just base it on age.
Thank you for the amazing art, much as I really appreciate it I would hate for you to get so tired you felt you had to deliver. Please we are in different times and to receive your amazing art is beautiful but you dont need to deliver other than when you can. Please.
Take great care re food, rest and activity. That- message to everyone.
Thank you @PenguinMum
I will always deliver a painting each day, somehow, even if it one-day may be just a line!
I am.exploring some apps for the phone.
You take care too.

impressive Governor Cuomo

the idea that we NEED ventilators, at any one time in specific hotspots.
wonderful thinking outside the box.to coral all the forces in the area most at risk,
then roll it on to the next hotspot.

doubt it would work here, but for the states, this Guy is the real deal.

Good Morning with a 5.8 for me today.

Another fine morning full of Spring although the birds have been very quiet this morning no raucous dawn chorus, other than the cooing doves and wood pigeons, most odd.

I have no idea what The day will offer Mrs MC and I.

Keep alert don't get complacent and go with greater care than usual.

Good morning/evening folks, a 4.7 on the dice today, not a score I normally see and not done anything different to get but hey, I'll take it. If only we had any bread I would celebrate with some cheese on toast.
Have as best a day as you can in the current circumstances.

Fab 5.0 for me. Hope you all slept well, great fbg @trick60

Anyone else here doing the Joe Wicks PE lesson at 9am every morning - we are jumping along while FaceTiming daughter and the girls, quite sets me up for the day.

Found out yesterday that no2 daughter (who is on yr 2 of her mental health nursing degree) will not be going back to uni for at least 6 months but will be working on the wards as extra nursing staff. We have mixed feelings - she’s glad to be doing something positive, but worried they’ll expect her to do more than she’s trained to do ( mental health nursing has totally different skills, but she’s expecting to be sent to a physical ward) We’re also a bit worried about how to manage when she comes into the house - luckily there is a shower downstairs so she Can go straight in and we’ve designated an armchair for her sole use. Sleeping arrangements are difficult as we don’t have a spare room ( she shares with her partner) Mr C has offered to sleep on the sofa for the duration ( as we knew he would, bless him) so we have all shuffled sleeping arrangements accordingly. Not sure when this starts, she has an exam ( now online) Friday so I guess we’ll hear more after that.
In other news Yesterday was Dennis’ birthday - he’s now 1 yr old but hasn’t become any wiser.
Take care all. Thank goodness the sun is shining.

Morning all. Sun has risen in a clear blue sky.

Feeling more optimistic today. On the macro scale, I really hope we can hold off the surge until the PPE, extra kit and staff etc. are in place. In my own little world, I have plenty of food, perhaps not my usual mix, and meds for another 28 days.

FBG 6.6 mmo/lt at 0630. Temp. 36.3 C

Lots of carpentry in progress, using teak to improve my boat's saloon. Estimated time for works, about 12 weeks total (did I hear that number before?)

Keep safe.
