Woke up to a 5.3 this morning and a cotton wool head - result of my neck not liking me book reading. Might take it easy today. Have a good day Easter Saturday everyone. :)

Congratulations and we'll archive that post for your 85th so you can show your grandchildren and great grandchildren. BTW, we can't return we can only look behind from where we came and go round and round in the circle game - ain't that so Joni? Now since it's a long weekend why not go for a 3peat? Edit: 4peat really.

Little sleep last night.

Popeyes abscess has got worse again. Unfortunately yesterday he started scratching it, And caused a wound which is now bleeding.

So more than double the work with bathing this now.

I'm not eating properly, I just can't deal with dealing with this abscess on Popeye. I did cook myself a stir fry last night, but unfortunately I put tomatoes in it and it looked exactly the same color as his messy abscess. Couldn't eat it, my stomach turned, and threw it away...

I am running out of cotton wool pads today with his abscess. I had plenty but not with the amount I'm having to use for cat Popeye.

So, I'm having to use my precious supply of kitchen towels. Also, if you think you have enough cotton wool pads, when you need them you will find you won't have anywhere near enough.

I will not be able to get any more cottonwood pads next week because we have the police stopping people around here to check where they're going etc etc. The shops nearest to me do not stock cottonwood pads, they stock food. But to get the cotton wool pads I need to go further afield, and there is a roadblock one way, and there's a roadblock the other way.

A few weeks ago, it is almost like the police were preparing for something in advance. (Our Welsh police do this strategy anyway, and these 'roadworks' and temporary traffic lights are set up in advance just by where the laybys are, so if you live here, you realise something is brewing). What happened was there were some temporary roadworks and traffic lights one way and temporary roadworks and traffic lights the other way, but I never saw anyone working on the road.

So, this was being set up in advance. The reason probably was because where I live is the gateway to Wales (I live in Wales) and everyone comes through the bottom road as a means of avoiding the traffic jams on the A55 on holiday weekends.

So probably people were hoping to avoid the police so that they could visit their holiday caravans or go to the beaches in Wales. But the beaches are all closed, the car parks around here are closed, everything is shut down.

The police started stopping people on Thursday questioning where they were going. I have not been through the roadblock, I just don't want the stress of this and most likely not being able to tell what the policeman is saying to me with being deaf. If he is wearing a mask then I am completely sunk to understanding what they are saying. I won't be able to lipread them. And I won't be able to follow their instructions.

So this means I will not be able to shop at Morrisons or a couple of other places anymore. It means I am stuck completely to my local shops.

So, this means no more cotton wool pads to treat Popeye's abscess. But I should be able to get kitchen towels. However, if I can't, because I am a hoarder, as you know, I have kept old worn out cotton towels and other worn out cotton t-shirts in the garage. They are hanging in bags from the garage rafters. I will fish some out today and put on a boil wash.

Apparently, the English police in Cheshire are also setting up roadblocks this weekend to stop tourist weekenders coming into Wales.

Take care
Stay safe

That is very kind of you @jjraak to offer.
But snail mail is bad round here at the moment. We have had barely two snail mail deliveries a week the last two or three weeks. I am still waiting for several things I ordered 3 weeks ago, that should have come 2 weeks ago. So, thank you so much for your kind offer.

I didn’t think of Amazon. My brain is not working at the moment. I am just trying to cope minute by minute. I will have a look in a minute. Thank you for suggesting it.

I had not thought of making signs for the police roadblock. As I said my brain has ceased functioning apart from dealing with the present minute of Popeye. I have made a note of that and will put something in the car. Thanks for that idea. Normally I can lipread the police (they stop anyone all year for breathalysers but they lean in the car window when they do that and it is easy enough to communicate then without having to explain my deafness), but they will be standing over six foot away, and possibly exaggerating their words now, and I won’t be able to lipread and I will freeze for fear of doing something wrong.

That is good, your other suggestions...simple prepared answers to expected questions pen and paper etc you are an angel suggesting this.

No, I am not ahead of the game in this. I suppose I am a bit shell shocked with all this at the moment. So, thanks again.
Thank you.

I have found some cotton wool on Amazon @jjraak , but the delivery is not until next Thursday. And the Amazon delivery I was expecting today, has been moved to a week today, Saturday the 18th, so the cotton wool next Thursday from Amazon will probably suffer the same fate.

In other words any deliveries c* r* a* p....

Bu$$er.

I would of said amazon was your best bet for fast delivery ... But I do know some but not all have non essential deliveries put back

I have daughter's play station to amuse us but needed an adaptor.. One seller said the above so longer wait.. Another was almost next day delivery
come the day after but arrived bang on time.

MIGHT be worth checking other sellers ?

Okay. Thanks.
Making a cuppa now. Will try again.

better have breakfast.
@gennepher such a terrible worry with Popeye being so unwell.
I like the idea about making signs for the police. Could you possibly take this one step further and include a request for them to phone the vet? Get you an appointment? Given Popeyes age and worsening condition, surely it constitutes an emergency? Police can be helpful and it would give them something to feel good about too.
Am thinking of you both and hoping you will find a way to help Popeye heal.
My own difficulties seem smaller when I think of your daily struggle.

Brilliant suggestion.
Well done.

Morning...a mad day yesterday and with little sleep I snoozed throughout the day...better sleep last night and a beautiful sunny morning a lovely start apart from listening to Matt Hancock on the news the same speech day after day...no chance of catching up with every post skimmed through them...my kittens have grown up Lola rushed into the house yesterday with a bird wing firmly ensconced in her mouth dropped it proudly in front of me...I screamed she ran then returned with Charlie to try to reclaim it as I searched for a bag to remove it...a little tug of war ensued she is a fierce little madam finally it was dispatched to the bin...then another battle for the sun puddle on the rug I'm just leaving them to it now...woke to a 6.6

Love the cat updates..
Nice score.

And the propoganda show
The panic in his eyes is visible now isn't it.
How dare he not know how many doctors nurses died.. And then Blame them for not using the little PPE they do have correctly

Shameful

@gennepher have just read your post. I think you should get to a vet. Around here they seem to be working one at a time. My friend had her dog seen less than a week ago. They have a very sensible method where you hand over the animal in the car park and when treated it is handed back the same way. I imagine they are all following the same rules. If you want to PM me with vet details in your area I will do the phoning and make the arrangements for you. In the meantime do you have an old white sheet you could cut up. PM me and let me know how I can help.

So sorry that popeye 's abscess has got worse. The cottonwool pads are essential to Popeye 's treatment and I wondered if you could write this on a notepad and get the police to write their response.

Just caught up on the posts. Forgot to post yesterday's fbs. 5.3 yesterday and spent the day struggling with BS in the 3s and 4s. At 10pm it suddenly shot up to 7.2 and was 6.6 this morning. I haven't a clue why BSs are a bit all over the place.
