A poignant yet peaceful lockdown message sent from my Whanau -“rellies” in NZ:
A good reminder that the Earth needs a break from us humans.

I did see that made me laugh those badges they've proposed are not even free...they cost £1.20 each and the minimum order is 100...it's nonsense isn't ithas made some propose a
don't care badge for government ministers ... ?
Edit: I have known this internet friend over 10 years now. My verbal writing skills were not very good 10 years ago (useless) and I was getting nowhere with legal letters etc. And so she helped me with them. She has guided me through lots of legal stuff, and taught me how to write letters and make my case/s clear.
I have different skills which I have helped her with over the years.
I am indebted to her for my now verbal written skills.
I am very grateful for all my internet friends. And I am very grateful for all of you being on here on this thread.
So some flowers for all you absolutely amazing internet friends...

Good morning Saskia. Hope you can get back to sleep.
Sorry to disappoint you but its Click and Collect which our supermarkets offer and my farm shop does a version of. With the supermarket you click on the items you want, choose a slot to collect (very difficult to find atm) pay by card. With my farm shop I email them the items I would like to receive and they try and fulfill my order. They will call me today to take payment over the phone and will tell me if anything is missing but at this stage I cannot add anything. They have their own butchers section, vast cheese counter, veg & fruit, farm eggs, rustic bread. They do have a store upboard section but I dont use that. So I get given my order no and I dont need to enter the shop, staff to and fro between the shop and a store in the yard and I give my order no and they place my box on the ground by my car.
We have exactly the same just with a plummy English accent. Both are highly likely to win second terms because democracy works that way. The folks selling that kind of model have the best salesmen right now and know how to manipulate the wisdom of the crowd best. Bunker/Hunker down for a decade and do your blood pressure a favour.![]()
Not really the thread for a discussion. Your knowledge of how US constitution works on the ground is bound to be superior to anything I learn from far away. I'm also very aware that I will never give the benefit of the doubt to a Republican or Conservative try as I may. Lincoln, Bush Snr and Disraeli at a push may be the exceptions.I seriously don't think Hillary could have managed this any better than Donald is doing. Whether or not she could have doesn't matter -- there is no way a Democrat would have been elected after 8 years of another Democrat in office. The pendulum always swings back, either way.
What people need to remember is that it is Congress that really runs the show. The President is the most public figure but he's no autocrat. It's just easier to blame one name than try to remember 500+.
good afternoon all
4.3 yesterday and 4.8 today
I must keep up with the thread, it's taken me ages to read everything because I missed posting yesterday
Took the opportunity today and spent an hour mowing grass at mum's whilst mr gee took her to the nearest small town because she wanted her pension. I made a natty cloth mask for her using a pattern from the internet in case she wanted to use it but she said she would wind her scarf round her face
Mum hasn't really grasped some aspects of this, she insisted on telling me how few people there are in townIf mr gee and I have to go do our shopping we try to get there for when they open at 08.00am whilst it's quiet so it's a bit odd having to go to the High St., just before lunchtime but that's the only time mum's part time post office counter is open
so mr gee took her to the PO and then hand sanitised etc. both mum and the car
Hope your day is treating you kindly
@gennepher I'm enjoying your apple blossom series, just the joyful thing for this time of year
@Muddy Cyclist that latest of your series is brilliant, such gorgeous light in it
today's art catch up -
both about 9 x 6 using the Daler Rowney paints
no 1 is done from a photo I took early last summer whilst walking above a nearby golf course, there was a field of rape seed growing by the course, such a glowing colour in the sun.

no 2 - Mum said' why are there never houses?' so here is a pic with a house in it
The hills are a bit muddy looking I'm afraid

I guess getting out in the fresh air is good for you. I get the impression you dont encounter many at the grocery store. Is there ever a queue outside? What are your rules locally about being out, wearing masks, etc.Thank you for explaining.
The other day I got an e-mail from Whole Foods inviting me to order groceries for delivery. I went straight to their site -- only to be told there were no delivery slots available.
Thank goodness I am able to walk to the local grocery store and do my own shopping. I try to counteract the negatives of being around other shoppers with the positives of some good exercise and a change of scene.
Thank you for the art today. I was about to say the same as Gennepher about that house so I will.good afternoon all

My farm shopping today had one big downer. They gave me a kilo of purple sprouting brocolli which is very woody and not to my taste so wont be used. That leaves me very short on green veg till my next supermarket C&C middle of the week. Next time I need to suggest alternatives. The brocolli up to now has been wonderful and I eat it virtually every day.

Shame no one appeared but perhaps they heard from a socially responsible distance? So we did it. Mrs Mc stood on the front drive and played Ode to Joy three times with harmonies. Not a soul appeared and we really were not that bad for such a rushed performance.
Here we be in back garden with our sign before we went out front.
