COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

@copilost though I rated your post as funny the tragedy is from some reports people have tried it with the obvious effects to their health and need for hospitalization.

Pulse oximeters.
It was recommended on the World Service tonight by a specialist that when we have suspected Covid the oxygen level should keep being checked and if the oxygen drops to low 90% it is significant and needs attention because sudden collapse can probably happen over time.
Early action apparently saves lives.
Pulse oximeters are easy to use and cheap.

My SPo2 is regularly around the 90% mark, as the long as the heart rate is lower I am quite happy with that. If the hear rate is around >140 with a SP0o2 of below 80% I start to get get AFib problems.

I can imagine the UK populace wanting a freebie oximeter from the NHS.

My Able Pulse Oximeter cost me about $90.00 a couple of years ago

Here's a pix of my reading just after breakfast, bit hard taking a pix left hand with out getting the joe blakes.

You can use the oximeter on any finger. It doesn't have to be your dominant hand.

The reason it's like that as the text is readable with the bpm wiggly line showing like that, and I could not be bothered to change it to use in my left hand for a forum pix.

My dear wife is always 98% on mine, no comorbidities or tablets at 78!, whereas I am normally between 94% and 96% when my pacemaker goes to its floor of 60bpm when in bed.
I hate to mention how many comorbities I have got because it seems to be a good justification for dying and when I take my tablets, I rattle. :)

I have just been given an oximeter. Are you supposed to take PR into account when reading the SpO2? Is there any particular time you should or shouldn't take a reading?

Be careful. We are being warned that some of these being sold on the internet are not at all reliable.
And that's why I haven't bought one before. When the test is from a known laboratory it's a little different than buying one from a spurious email. If I decide to buy one I won't be relying on it for anything as we don't know if having antibodies makes us immune in this case anyway.

Hi Mr Pot,
Do it in the same place at the same time each day.
Say after going to bed in the evening and wait for your pulse rate to stabilise first then comparisons can be made.
In left sided heart failure it is particularly worse when one lies down, the lungs have to work hard for the body to get rid of fluid, hence the need to use more pillows and prop oneself up.

The Australian government have released a tracing app called CovidSafe, I installed and setup accounts for it last night on our phones.

I don't know why every country is making their own app. The Apple/Google one has the advantage of running in the background. The UK NHS has a very poor track record for IT projects so I don't hold out much hope for our app.

The Australian govt app runs in the background with minimal battery usage, which on my Samsung phone was less than 10% overnight.

I prefer the this one to a Google / apple app as there will be no advertising in it...
