What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I am finding it quite easy to book shopping slots, for example went on to Iceland this morning and there was a slot for tomorrow. Didnt take it as I didn't need it, but its similar with Asda, I have visited Asda's web site on a few occasions to see spare slots. I have also managed to get slots for Tesco's, relatively easily and have a slot booked for Morrisons on the 8th. Maybe its the area we live in.

I am trying to do all my shopping online as I don't want to take the risk of shopping in store if I don't need to, plus we make sure we ring around all our elderly friends to see if they want anything adding to our shopping list. Don't get me wrong, I would love to shop instore - its what I was born to do I think, and I would much prefer the option of being able to choose items myself rather than someone to choose for me, but hubby is asthmatic (as I think you are?) and has had pneumonia three times in his life., I am just not sure he would survive this virus so I have got to be wise in this situation.

The main downside I find with online shopping is cost. You have to spend £40.00 at least for an online shop at Morrisons for example Not every pensioner or those on Universal credit can afford to or would want to spend that much in one go.
You are doing the right thing, but I'm sure there are many out there who could shop in store but are not. I have tried many local store but with no success, I know other friends are not getting slots either, I could get collect slots at Stafford, Wolverhampton, Tamworth but all would involve 60 plus mile round trips to collect. Not asthmatic myself, sinusitis and Fibromyalgia is my problem, sympathy for your worrying situation, keep being safe.

Sadly that is actually true. Meanwhile, whoever is running the show has shifted the focus on to potential number of tests and spare capacity in NHS. Just how many empty beds are in Nightingale hospitals which can't get the staff or are due to treating other serious conditions being stopped?

Our nightingale hospital opening is still a bit up in the air as to whether it will open. There was talk of not needing it.

Good morning everyone from a quite chilly day in the dark and dangerous north - temperature is relative.

The wonder wheel of chuck it all in the slow cooker, add a tin of tomatoes and some spices came in at 4.3 this am

“Suddenly Seymour”. Woke up and my first thought, well maybe, was, “where is my right foot?” Hobbled to the loo like Marty Feldman in the film Young Frankenstein, “Walk this way.” Bad sleeping position - that calmer sutra is rubbish.

People - quite a few I should think, are starting to go stir crazy right now - you can tell when folk start being rude, thoughtless in action and maybe worse, finger pointing and giving orders about what you should and should not be doing.
I have not left my house for six weeks now - nothing compared to Terry Wait who, nearing his 80th birthday is completely alone in his house as his wife is in London to be near family. I don’t mind, I am safe and try not to worry about the things that I cannot control. My strength, mental strength that is, comes from lessons learned undergoing some intensive CBT. It was a long time ago, they called it Battle Shock then, now it is PTSD, similar but not exactly the same.
Filling your day with well loved and newly found interests is wonderful. It keeps you busy, but, do take some time for yourself. Doing absolutely nothing except listening to your breathing is very helpful for the potential crazyness that may be brewing in the depths of your brain - non consciously - not yet to be heard - the unsettled, restless, confused chimp, stirring things up deep in that nasty primitive area that your consciousness cannot reach.
My go to books when I feel that I may be losing it are Meditations by Marcus Auralius - “The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.” ...“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. ...”
And The Art of War by Sun Tzu - “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
I have no idea why I am saying this other than some people are sounding quite fragile. Listen to your breathing.

Have the most wonderful day that you can. I now need to drag my leg round the house and drink koffy.

I do think that getting a slot and also what you eventually get to order is location dependent.

Hug for the fact that the wisdom contained in that post was largely or even partly born of such circumstances. Winner for the honesty in the post and the help it will bring other people. Sadness for an uncle who suffered in Korea and was never helped properly and for many like him since should have been better helped. Quite the Tsunami of similar issues building for those dealing with COVID up close and personal in Hospitals and care homes.

Morning, 6.2 this morning.

Busy old day yesterday, spoke to my doctor (video call) about my spinal surgery which has been put on hold due to the virus. He thinks I need to press on and get the op done, I think I need to stay in my shell and leave the docs to deal with more important things.

Anyway, it was decided that I should take the first step and find out what the surgeon has to say.

Enjoy the day :)

I am finding it quite easy to book shopping slots,
I have been able to book some slots Rhyia mainly with Asda & Tesco's...I always go for the click & collect rather than a delivery as I drive & at the moment am not working...I am not sure how they are allocating the delivery slots for vulnerable people particularly after reading @jjraak's post.

Morning...another late entry I've been spoiling myself with coffee with peace & quiet shooing the beasts outside after breakfast while the sun is still shining as rain expected regularly throughout the day...determined I am going to sort out the house today & over the weekend despite having so much time on my hands I'm doing less & less...woke to a 6.8 so it has come down a little the contraband carbs has to go...another coffee then to work here at home...keep safe.

Our annual family weekend was scheduled to start tomorrow - this year based in Llanberis which is where our first one started, ten years ago. We do this every May Bank Holiday (unless the govt fiddles with dates) to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust having lost my nephew to that awful disease at the age of 21
Judith's cousin's lad died of CF at 24 years of age Judith's brother's lad our nephew has CF also but is doing quite well at the moment in his thirties now but has been told he may need lung transplant at some point. His mum father and himself are shielding for the duration. Many the day Judith and myself have stood outside super markets and on street corners with collecting tins for the CF trust in the past but unfortunately am not really able to do that so much these days.

Woke before six, could feel DP, but very late night, went back to sleep.
7.00am FBG 6.8
Terrible evening last night. Big mistake to stop keeping busy. Too much thinking. Extra glass of wine. Ate far too much dinner. Also too much chocolate and when that was finished, a lot of cheese.
Edit full confession : Also two bowls of raspberries and cream
This morning thinking longer fast it would go down a bit, but at 8.00am still 6.8.
Probably need to do something more energetic than internet shopping. Need to buck up.
9am still 6.8
Had coffee with cream

Hug given but I would suggest don't sweat the small stuff. You and Mr Slim are well and building a stunning new home and new life in an amazing country. This period will pass and all will be well. If your shoulder is good to go and weather is suitable, time outside doing the needful would be good but this thinking malarkey isn't all its cracked up to be.

Good Morning and 6.2 for me today.

I was correct in yesterday's prediction about most of the day being taken up with my hearing loss problem. Doc rang, back, appointment made for afternoon, nurse seen, tablets prescribed all easy, actually much easier than normal, and only me in the surgery, all staff had masks, aprons, gloves. Prescription electronically sent to chemist at clinic, no long lines of people, only 2 in at a time, served very quickly by helpful staff considering prescription had not even had time to be printed. Then I got home and discovered I can't take the medication as I am allergic to it's contents, Penicillin. Phone clinic they promise nurse will re prescribe and will let me know by phone once done. Get phone call back go to chemist, long queues, stood in rain for 30 minutes, went in prescription not ready or printed can I wait outside as they are so busy and someone will bring it out when done. Waited again for a hour, got home at 5.30 pm. Took tablets, felt ill and crashed out until now, 6.45 am.

Just to state I was very impressed with the way everything was handled by surgery and chemist, all sorted in a day under trying circumstances, just bad luck with mix up that is not noted on my records, it was but must have been deleted when added to their new computer system. Nurse said no ENT appointments for the foreseeable future to Hoover out the ear wax, you are on your own, last time this happened it didn't move until hoovered by ENT so could be a long time with hearing down, music is suffering, I can play but more by feel than sound. :banghead:

So no art yesterday, although I did finish my Super Carrot short story for tonight's family meal, didn't want to subject you to the ten A4 drawings that make it up.

@gennepher thats an aweful experience shopping. I can't understand what people are not getting about all the instructions, we should not have to rely on every business policing us, I fear as a race we are loosing our respect, self discipline and becoming more selfish. Shopping here is not so bad at Tesco, big wide isles good system and OAP hour which is quieter. Even so a lady in her 80s with husband in tow could not wait for shoppers to move on as others politely did down the well marked 2 meter isles and shouted " Oh, for goodness sake just barge through, what's wrong with you people?" With attitudes like this we nor shop keepers stand a chance in my opinion.

So a day of more tablets, more dropping olive oil in my ears, thank goodness for family meal, virtual, tonight.

Hold on to your sanity, keep dodging the bugs.
@Muddy Cyclist have you tried bicarbonate of soda eardrops? When working as a carer have seen very good results with these in relatively short time. Far more effective than olive oil.

My wife seems worried about useing this method, we have a retired nurse in the family giving the Biacarbonate method as a way forward, I think I will manage to convince Mrs MC this will have to be a solution eventually. Thank you for your advice and I hope you manage to get on top of all your trials and tribulations, like @ianpspurs says these times won't be for ever there will eventually be a new normal that we will all accept and live with, initially Human nature will fight against it but eventually it will happen.

I hope the best course of action is taken, considering the Coronavirus @Alien Aspie

You have a good day

Totally agree, @ianpspurs, that's why the Keep Busy policy was inaugurated. Outside work would also.be good, but last few days it seems to rain every time i set foot out there, and a lot more besides.
With MrSlim back in UK, building work is practically at a standstill, few things I can do, but no really big improvements.

This is like a scab I just have to pick mainly because like so many of us I have worked so hard to deal with my own health only for an over weaning ego to endanger us all without a second thought. I think we have long passed 1957's 30k already and don't see the ending being repeated (I also think Wilson was a disaster) Supermac's most famous phrase is remarkably similar to every media appearance by the current Good News Bears.
