What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Well I was worried about @gennepher food situation, so I thought I would see if there was anything online to help her or others caught up in yet another Crisis this government seems to
Have been incapable of predicting preventing or simply doing anything about. .

Never have I been more ashamed at how poorly our government has handled this crisis from the very start until now, where they congratulate themselves on achieving a death toll many think is heading for 40k +
And rising.

I had hopes. ..I know, when will I ever learn

And then I saw this....

Scandalous, outraged, how can a modern, so called civilised society, be letting down those most vulnerable..... at a time like this.

https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money...t-chaos-Needy-families-unable-deliveries.html

We are fortunate, with the car I can shop reasonably safely, if we go early or go late
So I have not been impacted by the delay slot roulette.

So sorry for those who are.. Disgraceful

There was a number to call .
Let me quote it

. If you have received a letter from the NHS to say you are highly vulnerable, you can register for support — including priority deliveries — online at gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable or call 0800 028 8327

If you have not received one and consider yourself to be vulnerable, speak to your GP.

I hope that helps someone at least

Sun shine this morning
Rain this afternoon.

Fumng over that earlier post and now I find a corner of sanity in light of the BS dripping from Hancock's half hours..
That sends to be morphing into a radio show phone in...(that call to trump must of given some new ideas of how to hoodwink the public and stop the press asking those pesky awkward questions)

Don't normally like him,
But I can't say I don't agree with every word.

how on earth can such a huge death toll be anything to celebrate

Well @gennepher , after re reading of your horrid day yesterday, I'd say your numbers are more stress related... Sounds like free for all.:woot:

It is those situations, that are going to exacerbate the situation so the next wave comes quicker and at yet another hard to manage height ..:wideyed::banghead:

I hope shops and shoppers, begin to get the message, opening up is NOT going back to normal, ...until we do get this next wave.

only then can we really see what we are dealing with, until there is a working vaccine,

And just how much this virus is going to intrude deep into our lives for a while to come .

Hope you have a much more peaceful day today
Unfortunately, it is looking like shoppers are going back to normal, thinking this must be over soon. They want it to be over, so if they behave as they did before, then it will be over....not good thinking.

I will be painting @jjraak today. The sun has come out, blue skies. I am still very tired. I won't be doing much, just trying to sit on my swing with Popeye (in his cage to keep him safe).

Good Morning and 6.2 for me today.

I was correct in yesterday's prediction about most of the day being taken up with my hearing loss problem. Doc rang, back, appointment made for afternoon, nurse seen, tablets prescribed all easy, actually much easier than normal, and only me in the surgery, all staff had masks, aprons, gloves. Prescription electronically sent to chemist at clinic, no long lines of people, only 2 in at a time, served very quickly by helpful staff considering prescription had not even had time to be printed. Then I got home and discovered I can't take the medication as I am allergic to it's contents, Penicillin. Phone clinic they promise nurse will re prescribe and will let me know by phone once done. Get phone call back go to chemist, long queues, stood in rain for 30 minutes, went in prescription not ready or printed can I wait outside as they are so busy and someone will bring it out when done. Waited again for a hour, got home at 5.30 pm. Took tablets, felt ill and crashed out until now, 6.45 am.

Just to state I was very impressed with the way everything was handled by surgery and chemist, all sorted in a day under trying circumstances, just bad luck with mix up that is not noted on my records, it was but must have been deleted when added to their new computer system. Nurse said no ENT appointments for the foreseeable future to Hoover out the ear wax, you are on your own, last time this happened it didn't move until hoovered by ENT so could be a long time with hearing down, music is suffering, I can play but more by feel than sound. :banghead:

So no art yesterday, although I did finish my Super Carrot short story for tonight's family meal, didn't want to subject you to the ten A4 drawings that make it up.

@gennepher thats an aweful experience shopping. I can't understand what people are not getting about all the instructions, we should not have to rely on every business policing us, I fear as a race we are loosing our respect, self discipline and becoming more selfish. Shopping here is not so bad at Tesco, big wide isles good system and OAP hour which is quieter. Even so a lady in her 80s with husband in tow could not wait for shoppers to move on as others politely did down the well marked 2 meter isles and shouted " Oh, for goodness sake just barge through, what's wrong with you people?" With attitudes like this we nor shop keepers stand a chance in my opinion.

So a day of more tablets, more dropping olive oil in my ears, thank goodness for family meal, virtual, tonight.

Hold on to your sanity, keep dodging the bugs.

Unfortunately @jjraak at lot of deaf people cannot use the phone line number.

Also, a lot of elderly people also who are hard of hearing are going to find problems with whatever communication system is given them.

I have a lot of emails with just a landline phone number, to contact various things now that Coronavirus is here. The text numbers are not operational now, and email doesn't get a response.

4.9 today which is ok (ish) as far as it goes but needs lowering then becoming a pattern. @gennepher I hope Popeye and the painting today take you to "that place". @jjraak now you've conflicted me - agreeing with Morgan (well Eoin is ok) and not apoplectic with something linked with that publication. Ironically, it seems Cummings and co are quite sanguine about throwing thousands of their own base under the bus to further "the narrative." - (or party funds). Enough on that. Today I am enjoined to remember Philip and James, apostles. They just happen to be the names of my 2 oldest sons so quite easy. Let's be careful (if) out there.

But again it's not just the Supermarket, I can't get a delivery slot at Tesco or Collect and yet they send emails to customers and have signs saying they have increased and are still increasing their capacity, but to help them manage will the less vulnerable please stop ordering online. I spoke to the store manager and he tells me that they know they are still getting many online orders from all the customers who were doing this before the crisis and he suspects are not amongst the most vulnerable, in fact there's been very little drop in these existing online orders, again people are being selfish.the problem is the store can't curtail these orders as they can't know for certain the vulnerability of these people, but they have their well founded suspicions. Basically if you can shop do it I am 70 but shop as I realise there are those in a much worse off situation than myself, but many are not. I have a friend who is on the high risk group, he can't get deliveries, he is lucky in family can help him, but what if? Hard times, but we the public do have to take some responsibility and become less selfish, a lesson that's going to be learnt the hard way.

So you had a good although very tiring day overall.
You take some rest today @Muddy Cyclist

Thank you.
All these selfish people make the shopping experience fraught, and tiring.

Aye, the day is making strange bedfellows of us all.

What's that they say,. My enemies enemy is my friend.

We may all differ now and later on in our views etc.
But right now this is the fight of our lives .

All around us, people are dying.
Doctors, nurses, care workers, bus driver, and however many more as we begin the unlock.
Shop staff, teachers, the list goes on.

We need to hold the govt to account to do it's very best for all off us.

There is only one battle, one enemy. For now.

The virus ..

And as I see it, there are those who are part of the solution
And those who are part of the problem.

We must all play our part.
As must government

This is the 2nd conflicting point today for me. I don't like Tesco - not beneath me, Norma Major is higher up the food chain than me - their meat and veg don't pass muster IMHO. However, they seem to have linked my shielding letter to their database and both delivery and click and collect slots are available. They also seem to make sensible swaps. I sympathise with yourself, @gennepher and many thousands of others for whom this doesn't work. Just felt it fair and honest to praise a company I normally don't like.

good afternoon all :)

4.2 today

a brisk breeze here today but we have been out for our walk around the village and mr gee is currently contemplating putting some cuttings into pots.
I should be getting on with something, but I'm not :hilarious:
I think I'll do some knitting, I've got a couple of projects on the go that would benefit from some work.

@gennepher that's a fantastic sky :joyful:
@Muddy Cyclist a good start to the new series, you always bring such a strong sense of place to your paintings :)

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

Wow, liked that sky a bit of wet on wet technique love it. Still life as always excellent.

All around us, people are dying.
Sadly that is actually true. Meanwhile, whoever is running the show has shifted the focus on to potential number of tests and spare capacity in NHS. Just how many empty beds are in Nightingale hospitals which can't get the staff or are due to treating other serious conditions being stopped?

Thanks I will take it easy. Loved your sky, yet again another success, I hope to get some painting done today, we shall see.

I wonder how often it's morgue facility has been used ?
But you are correct.
Beds but no staff. So hospitals maybe refusing to send .
Is talk of sending care patients to the nightingales.

I am finding it quite easy to book shopping slots, for example went on to Iceland this morning and there was a slot for tomorrow. Didnt take it as I didn't need it, but its similar with Asda, I have visited Asda's web site on a few occasions to see spare slots. I have also managed to get slots for Tesco's, relatively easily and have a slot booked for Morrisons on the 8th. Maybe its the area we live in.

I am trying to do all my shopping online as I don't want to take the risk of shopping in store if I don't need to, plus we make sure we ring around all our elderly friends to see if they want anything adding to our shopping list. Don't get me wrong, I would love to shop instore - its what I was born to do I think, and I would much prefer the option of being able to choose items myself rather than someone to choose for me, but hubby is asthmatic (as I think you are?) and has had pneumonia three times in his life., I am just not sure he would survive this virus so I have got to be wise in this situation.

The main downside I find with online shopping is cost. You have to spend £40.00 at least for an online shop at Morrisons for example Not every pensioner or those on Universal credit can afford to or would want to spend that much in one go.

I'm with you on Tesco but being rural we have a limited choice. I choose Tesco because it's the newest built store here and the isles are the widest I have seen any place, easy parking. I agree re quality, sourcing of goods, prices and ethnics are questionable but probably better than how Some of the less expensive stores treat their staff, so you make your choices and take your chance. I would love to go back to the shop at different stores, greengrocer, butcher, baker and so on, would work now retired, would be harder if busy working with young family.
