What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just out of interest our dog Moet needs his yearly inoculations so phoned vet who informed us they can't fit us in until June. We were concerned as we have missed the date before and had to have a complete new start involving three vet visits which is much more expensive than the one annual boost. We were informed the Vet College have said there is no problem up to 15 months after the date inoculation was due and Kennels will accept certificates up to 15 months after the date on last certificate. Complicated but stay with me.

So 12months (length of time between inoculation) + 15 months acceptable time after the due boost inoculation = 27 months. So as vets are saying your dog is safe and vet college is not concerned about dogs getting flu, kennel cough and such Over 27 months why do we normally have to have our dog boosted every year and not every two years, also in the past why have we paid a heavier price when we have gone over the 12 months by more than a month?

I fear money has been driving the 12 month booster and will continue to do so once we are in the new normal.

Sorry rant over.

Its dry today, but might not last, have been out using my new bag of compost for parsley, basil and thyme. All of which had outgrown their tiny pots. There are tomatoes which need larger pots too and cucumber plants. Peppers and Chilli peppers, was planning another pot of 18 day radish, the last lot were really good. There is not going to be enough compost to go round. Dont really fancy trying to fetch more. Unless I investigate the back way. Its a longer route, but quieter roads. Or they will be quieter once lockdown ends. Need a bag of compost for two, or three large tomato plants. Seems better to do a lot of smaller plants. There are already three tomato plants in the largest pots.

8.30pm where did the day go? Just had lovely long chat with MrSlim, really hungry so i ate the two chicken thighs that were to be dinner, while on the phone, Dont want to cook now - Had a huge chunk of cheese. Not really a meal. In the end did oven chips. Shock!! horror!! and two fried eggs. BG before the chips was 5.3. We shall see what we shall see, As my mother used to say.
Any one like to take on the task of reminding me to check at one hour and two . My phone timer is awful. Nearly always stops before time is up.

One hour 5.4 am amazed, bet you are too .Do you need a photo ?

@SlimLizzy

2 +hours check reminder

I was stood at the front door at 8 O'Clock waiting to start clapping and cheering for the NHS thinking where is everybody when the wife gently reminded me it is Wednesday not Thursday I mean how was I to know I through the calendar in the bin weeks ago.

yep been there mate.

and now it's the HOURS not days that are the issue.

so go to bed at what time...does it matter.?
get up at what time..does it matter ?
sure most are getting way more then the 8 hour guide.
even if it's only here and there during the day .

never has napping been so easy or popular..:D

mmhh..not sure if i'm not now clapping for Hancock, the minister for death
to keep on doing what he keeps on doing, ...anymore..:sorry:.

it's beginning to feel like the genuine outpouring of love & respect has been acquired by the this govt
to justify their actions OR lack of them.
how DARE they clap with us, after all they have done or failed to do..:watching:

Wonder, if as it's now well established, we should respect those front line workers and GET them ALL,
what they REALLY need
Not a round of applause..

because as one said during panorama, calling us heroes, makes it OK for us to die.

( isn't that what heroes do, if they can't save the day for others..?. )

maybe we should stand on our doorsteps all shout for PPE & testing for ALL who need it.
to shame them into action....fill YouTube with it, see how many report that from the govt side.

nothing else seems to work..

i mean we even seem to have moved the briefings from downing street to B&Q
" and a question from tony from everyone's fav store, B & Q up/down there in the north west-south-east..."

No disrespect meant to the north west-south-east or anywhere, but really..
easy questions, easily vetted and many never answered...

how did we let it get this poor...:arghh:

mmh that does make perfect sense.

if it is good now WHY the yearly updates earlier..?

Think we all have to look beyond to see if we are getting legged over, by the many businesses we usually frequent

you know the friendly insurance company "renewing your debit automatically"
at a greater cost then if you cancelled and looked at the very same website...:banghead:
cos new customers are the bestest customers.

so lets all be new customers until they acknowledge OUR loyal patronage HAS value.

Many businesses are going to struggle, so lets reset the clock and go to a new system rather then being the sheep of yesterday., make them respect us, not use us...

No more sheep ..
the herd remembers

BIG companies will fall over the coming months
we have a valuable chance to dictate those who stay and those who go.
we are WORTH something..and if they fail to adapt and respect us and go to the wall.
sad but others will learnt the lesson from the dinosaurs who die.

we pay for service,
we pay for quality
we pay where deserved
but we DON'T get fleeced again
EVER.

from the ruins of covid, we have a small say what grows
and what replaces those long gone

lets not waste it, we HAVE Worth.

we might be cannon fodder to the govt, but lets not
make ourselves it for others, not now ..not ever.

That horrible black and white feral cat who twice attacked Popeye giving him bad injuries is in the corner of my garage. Looking in the bungalow at an irate Popeye. And he is after the blackbirds in the bush less than a meter in front of him, in that bush. The mother blackbird was in the bush and leaves. The father blackbird was trying distraction techniques, but the b&w feral Tom cat didn't fall for them.

I went out at 6am when I saw him. He thought he was safe up there. I threw something at him, and he fled. I hope I woke up my horrid neighbour at the same time.

This is war. He does not get my blackbirds. They nest here and raise young safely every year.

Good morning whoever and wherever you are. The pattern on the screen of my meter resembled 5.2 this morning after I placed a droplet of blood on the strip. There must have been an actual bg level and presumably there is also an optimum level for me which will be different to yours. Blowed if I can remember the Elvish for speak friend and enter to unlock the secret code though. Stay safe. well and don't focus on man's inhumanity to man.

A win for your numbers not for the feral cat ;)

My own numbers were close. Spent the day gardening and tested around 5.0 throughout, had gammon and eggs for dinner and awoke this morning to 5.7, so all is well :)

Ran out of butter (how?) so I need to go trap a cow before returning to the never-ending story that is Le Jardin :)

Good Morning and 6.2 for me today, can't get out of these in 6s Fasting BG numbers. Have been putting it down to eating later after dog walks but last night we ate at 6 pm then walked Moet so that theories out of the window.

Another day full of sunshine. Peonies are opening up in our garden, seems early. Went on some garden tours yesterday, amazing how spick and span everyone had got their gardens. Friends and family have taken to organising virtual tours with videos, seen more gardens in one day in with private guide, Monty Don look out you have competition.

Another day of beauty and discovery, worry and stress, expected and unexpected happenings. Go safely.

Know the feeling, I make sure that on a Sunday I wear something a little bit smarter than I wear during the week just so that I have a marker to count back to.

Good morning everyone from a day full of the promise of some ramped up rasta celsius in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of chilli with cheese and a runcible spoon came in at 4.7 this am - "'neath a sky of milk you’re drinking silk, you’ve lost the runcible spoon"

The “TO DONE” list now includes the making of two milk carton planters, a tropical storm shower head cleaned with the contents of a coke bottle, sourcing a new read and “why not sand down that side table” - Part 1. Wine was consumed last night, in chronological order. Rule 423.27A - wine is to be consumed in accordance with the time sequence in which each glass is both poured and also slurped [It’s better that way - saves having to think about it and you can rely entirely upon muscle memory]. Today’s chores are now out of the way (I deleted the list from my phone - jobs done) so I can now retire, in the good company of Mlle Cafetiere.

Have the very best day that you can, sunbathing today is highly recommended.

7.10am FBG 5.3 After last nights surprisingly low reading had thought it might be less. Oh well, thats the number this am.

Glorious sunshine. I will be finding outside jobs to do today. Trouble with that is there is lot of pottering, weeding, trimmimg, tidying that is not on the list, but is just general maintainance, but neccessary and enjoyable all the same.

My next door neighbour came round last night and checked the traps. we have caught another mole. but, there are new molehills both sides of the garden, so traps have been reset. It might be time to mow the wild area behind the shed, the orchids are almost over, they have a very long flowering season and I am starting to think it might be difficult to do. MrSlim usually strims through, before we start mowing, but the huge strimmer. is too heavy for me to use.

Deliberately mow slowly and watch for movement in the grass ahead. Sometimes unexpected creatures to be rescued. Last week was a very small toad.

Probably should take the rubbish today, before it gets hot. Thats the place to start. That and pick salad leaves for lunch.

Wild flowers in the orchard. Pics about a month apart. 20200411_100514.jpeg20200423_120151.jpeg20200503_205611.jpeg

A stunning orchard @SlimLizzy
I would love it, but not the maintenance of it, I have to admit.

Stunning photos @SlimLizzy you are truly blessed to live in such surroundings albeit with so much work needed to maintain the beauty. @dunelm I love that music and the colours but for me hills and deep water are best far away and in photographs. That sequence was just enough experience of that for me. I clearly like my beauty tamed but both amazing reminders of the beauty and variety of creation. Thank you both so much.
