But there was a lot of stuff I was sensitive to, and the grown ups in my day had no understanding or sensitivity to it, and I got very stubborn over it with a grown up.

Yet when my children had these sensitivity issues, I was understanding of them and helped them with them.

Yes, the bikes went really fast. I really don't know what possessed us to do that as it was so dangerous. We were so lucky.

I did become a very safe cyclist until a white van came out of a side turning 15 years ago and hit me side on. I lost my nerve after that and gave up cycling.

@ianpspurs as sometimes happens the day did not go to plan. This time in a good way.
I was able to contact someone who has done work for us before and he came and cleared the drive. Not 100% probably 85ish, but what's left is manageable. Barn clearing is nearly done, abandoned hedge plant searching until tomorrow.

I tried it once, doing nearly 30 mph on my brother's bike down a hill (no other traffic), and realised how stupid that could be. I was 13/14. Never did it again.

Memorably scary when I was a small child was the stuffed baby crocodile that used to live on the landing at my grandparents house, You'd better believe I galloped past it when I had to go to the bathroom. I believe some 'generous' friend of my grandad's brought it back from a trip overseas as a gift :sorry:, it disappeared in a house move shortly afterwards :D :hilarious:

As a child I only tried climbing big trees once whilst outside playing with my older cousins, I fell and tried to grab the trunk resulting in skinning both my palms, not an activity to repeat, plus I still have the scar on my leg incurred whilst playing 'pirates walking the plank' across the builders' plank he'd left over a drainage trench, result of a nasty gash because of the nail still in the plank :bigtears: Don't think I'm fated to deal well with heights ;)

I'm glad (and amazed) we all made it so far :)

@gennepher a colourful scene today, I particularly like sky and the trees on the left. The yellow is strong but it still feels balanced on my screen.

@Muddy Cyclist - a different take today, I love the big old oak tree it has a very strong graphic quality. I've never tried pastels so far.

Today's art catch up -
no 1 - just by way of a change, a doodle done with a biro and a couple of coloured pencils on the back of an envelope whilst on the phone.

no 2 - quite a different style for me, this is my (poor) attempt at a copy of an image by Robert Steele who is a painter/illustrator, I love his use of colour, very delicate and balanced warm vs cool. (once again an image found on Pinterest)

The upstairs toilet was another problem when I was a child. And linoleum on the bedroom floor. I would scream until someone had carried me from bed to attic landing when I awoke. If I stepped on that linoleum, immediately I awoke, the witches would get me. But they once I had stepped foot on the attic landing bare wooden floorboards, I could then walk back over the bedroom linoleum because I was now protected.

I still really do not like linoleum...

@gennepher You have reminded me of the face in my bedroom door. It was in the woodgrain, but not all the time. As a child, I was terrified of it. Could not close my eyes if it was there.

I love the Calligraphy doodle.

The painting is great. Obviously I haven’t seen the original, but I disagree with your words that it is a poor attempt of a copy of the guy’s work.
It is a lovely delicate painting in its own right.

Hugs for you @SlimLizzy for that face in the wood grain. For me too, they appeared from time to time, and other times you cannot find it.
 
Out early with my soft pastels this morning, for my daily painting challenge to myself.
A quickie. Took me 15 mins.
I have a commission to do for a friend of The Rocky Mountains, so that will be me kept busy in the sunshine working in the shade of my willow tree today.

Wonderful - I get a feeling of anticipation as the light begins to reflect off the surface of the plants.
 
5.1 this morning.

My To Do list has been really helpful and I have done heaps of work over the last two weeks. I feel much more motivated but am puzzled.that it has taken so long. @HarryBeau - you mentioned in an a previous post that you had experienced exactly the same thing.

Mr K is off to Aldi to do the weekly shop. I am relaxing with a coffee while the Labradors chase around the house and garden. They have identical chews but Poppy keeps trying to steal Archies.

Then it will be sanitise the shopping and then out be the park with the dogs in the sunshine.

A lovely painting - how on earth did you do it in 15 minutes. It looks like you spent hours on it.
 
Good morning all. Beautiful clear blue sky here but bracing. 5.0 on reader 5.2 on phone this morning after 7+ hrs sleep. Sats 98% (family medics say that is a key marker). Bedtime nibble of chorizo and sip or so of Metaxa seem not too damaging to Ianhood. Being Friday, salmon is the order of the day (crispy skin non negotiable ) and we may run to Milky's Hallum fries with the essential salad. Youngest of the tribe was 1 yesterday - short trip to deliver a very socially distanced greeting (Julie pulled somewhat on the lead). Impressive stats @JohnEGreen and good result yesterday @SlimLizzy. I hope your blessings today are as well individualised for you as mine will be and you stay safe.
