What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

So an early morning cycling lesson for Madame,
Then she trundled off to get used to bike.

I got the other one ready , then met her later on at Kensington gardens

Round pond for those that know it,
Busy busy. But the plan was to see how easy she might find it to cycle to work Monday morning when so many more do.

Round pond to hyde park corner.
Up park lane, then back along bayswater , so she got here bearings.

All good, a pleasant 5.5 miles.
Sun was out, our first real work out together

No drama's...win / win

Whingefest. You dont have to read .

Feeling thoroughly miserable today.
It rained. Within few mins had water trickling down the inside walls heading for some recently installed electrical cables. Did my best to mop up, but it's a fight I can't hope to win if rain persists.
Then daughter posts pics on Facebook. Having a lovely time on the beach with her children. And her brother and my husband. As if letting me know what I am missing
is not going to hurt. It's tough enough without that kind of input. Surely she had a pic without MrSlim? That would have been fine.
Watching the sky and waiting for the next rain. Very, very stressed.
Dont dare phone anyone. Would probably blubber all over them if i did.
Am begining to wonder why on earth I stayed. What was I thinking?

Edited to add:
I can hear thunder. Waiting for the rain.

A very valid whingefest.
I empathise.
That photo would be the last straw.
It is a hurt beyond hurt.

You have been dealing with a lot on your own, the flooded driveway and lots more, the water through the roof today. It is too much for one person.

For me it would be the last straw. I wish I could help in some way.

But if you need to do another whingefest, then do it on here, and I do read most posts eventually, and I will reply to you.

Hugs for you @SlimLizzy

good evening all :)

4.2 today

it was a weird day weather wise here, where we live near the sea there was quite a lot of haar so not too bright, over to mum's with dinner, lovely sunshine so we ate in the garden, it was so warm I had to resort to wearing my disreputable gardening hat :D

Back home later and the haar is still about although it isn't particularly cold this afternoon, it's quite humid and feels as if a good 'thunder plump' would clear the air :hilarious:

@SlimLizzy - moan away, you're amongst friends, (I think I'd be whingeing too if I were in your shoes) :)

@gennepher - glad you enjoyed tranquility in the midst of the storm. I really like your japanese brush pen painting, I bought a calligraphy brush early in the year when I began doing art again, haven't really tried it yet though, also some 'xuan' paper which looks similar to the rice paper you used. I confess that my art bits are everywhere :sorry:

@Muddy Cyclist - a shame your cycling trip was so fraught, perhaps things will settle down after people get the first blast of 'freedom' over with, we can only hope :( we had a couple of vans with roof racks full of canoes driving round the village the other day, they seemed pretty dischuffed that the beach access car park is still closed ;)

Art bits catch up -
Bought some brushes, I wanted to get a shorter handled brush so that I could take out my little Daler Rowney sketching box at some point to try some 'plein air' sketching. I didn't want to pay a lot in case 'plein air' doesn't work for me, plus I wasn't too sure what size would suit me best. Ended up with a set of five 'nail' brushes :hilarious: nope, not the stiff bristle kind :D
these arrived yesterday and seem quite good for the very small price I paid, will do me well enough for a try out. They're intended for people who do those fancy manicured nails. It says they're sable, I doubt it :hilarious: but on a quick try they handle water quite well.

no 1 - wanted to have a go at adding in a different blue on my pallet, it's a bit more turquoisey
and cooler than ultramarine.

and no 2 -a more abstract skyscape

Thank you for understanding @gennepher I think it's lovely that MrSlim is able to spend some time with family. Just wish I was there too.
Checking travel to UK conditions they wouldn't probably not let me in. Even if I could somehow get to a ferry. Although if things change I would go back for a visit. Preferably in about four weeks time. It's likely to be about six weeks before MrSlim returns.

I had a great thunderstorm here! I have just had a good nap for a couple of hours. The air is so fresh.

Thank you for your compliment @geefull on the Chinese painting. I think I need to check out Amazon and see what papers are available in a roll. And just order some! More stock!

I use anything for painting with, as long as it does the job! From expensive stuff to cheap make up brushes! Let us know how you find these brushes to use.

I like both your paintings. Looking on my larger iPad screen and enlarging it to look at your distant green hills in the first one. I am amazed at how much 3D detail you get in those distant bills, yet they look deceptively simple. I am envious of your ability to be able to do that.

In the second one, I love the way you have done that huge expanse of sky.

Just before I had my nap I looked out of the window into my garden, and I saw a magpie swoop down into the cherry trees at the end of my garden, and it came back up immediately with an adult male blackbird in its beak. The blackbird was hanging, wings outstretched, as though it were dead. The magpie flew off with the blackbird.

Nothing I could do.

A couple of years ago, a magpie swooped in my garden, while I was taking photos with my iPad, and began decimating a sparrows nest. I dived into the trees and bushes immediately to try and help, but to no avail. The magpie flew at me and all I had in my hands was my iPad, but I swiped the magpie with it. Deflected it, and it flew off. The magpies have never been in my garden since, and neither have the sparrows nested again. But the sparrows come in my garden to feed.

Now a magpie has caught and killed, and carried off, a male blackbird at the end of my garden. I hope it is not one of the two nesting pairs.

I have seen a magpie attack a collared dove before. Does anybody else see this vicious behaviour with magpies, or do I have particularly nasty magpies?

Yes it is good he can spend time with his family.

This coronavirus is adversely affecting a lot of things, and causing complications we never expected.

I will hope for you that you will be able to make that visit in 4 weeks time. And if not, it could just be another two weeks again after that, before MrSlim returns home.

I hope you get your wishes.

Fbg 6.1 at 4am this morning

Temp 35.7

Having a coffee.
Watching the dawn sky.
The clouds are like the puff puff smoke from a steam train chugging across the sky.
We are promised thunderstorms again this afternoon. But I think it will be nice weather this morning with some sunshine. It is surprisingly light outside now and it's 4:18 a.m.

Take care

Have fun. Social distance if you can, but if you can't then go somewhere else quieter.

It is difficult. Some of my neighbours are acting as though lockdown is over and having parties. And this is Wales. On the internet on a local site for this area, there are a lot of people complaining the exactly the same is happening with their neighbours. People who have kept to lockdown rules are having to listen to noisy wild neighbour's parties as though lockdown never existed in the first place. And some of them are naming addresses. This is a dangerous game and I don't like where this might be heading.

They are also naming addresses where they see the drones flying from. There are too many drones at the moment flying over neighbour’s gardens.

Anyway I'm going to enjoy the first few hours of the day which are the only quiet hours of the day around here now.

So take care again, and enjoy yourselves the best you can.

Yay, it's... another day!

5.7 this morning and I have to drive Miss Daisy to get her pre-op covid check. In the meantime, my hair is back to its 1960s Beatle era and I have given up trying to do anything with it. Something to be said for baldness as it seems a better option than looking like some ancient hippy ;)

Have fun :)

Good Morning and 6 for me today.

Long day yesterday finishing boarding the loft and sorting loft hatch, just a bit left to finish thank goodness did get an hours break when daughters family came and sat in the garden for coffee between thunderstorms. Sadly no art again.

@geeful really liked both of those paintings especially the full sky painting very well executed.

@gennepher regarding Magpies they are all very aggressive and terrifying. One of our cats caught one and carried it to our doorstep, its mate was going crazy attacking the cat. Mrs MC got it off tha cat and it was all limp and lifeless, just when Mrs MC was going to drop it in the bin it sprung to life and flew off giving Mrs MC a proper scare, so they are cunning also.

@SlimLizzy tough times and happenings, hug needed.

Coffee is brewed and the aroma is calling me.

Get the best from the day, take care.

Its creeping up. Maybe late dinner and massive stress yesterday.
Wind is still from South, more thunderstorms possible today. Not a great start to the day.
Oh and the bedroom curtain rail fell down last night. I would usually be able to put such things back up. But it seems too short ???? Further investigation needed.

Good morning everyone. The last of the Buffalo steak, halloumi chips and lots of salad (avocado obviously) plus 3 episodes of The Medici ended yesterday. This morning the Libre gave a 4.5 @ 6.05 (woke @ 5.30 when it showed 4.8 for some reason). Part of the lower readings is going from around 70k steps weekly first week of May to 170k last week with 2 weeks of 140k in between. Libre gives me a great guide as to when and how much to walk. Julie is going to visit her mum today back in The Old Country - if I went I may be tempted to stay (not with MIL). Today's experiment is seeing what happens to dawn p with no hard boiled egg first up - I don't need to weigh 74 kgs. Walking song for today

4.6 this morning. I am surprised as we had such a lovely relaxing day yesterday. A long walk in the morning and then spent the rest of the day relaxing and reading in the sunshine.

@dunelm I followed your instructions and froze some back up kefir last night. It took me a week to grow enough to freeze - and I am so pleased that I have a back up in case anything goes wrong.

They are part of the crow family so are very cunning as @Muddy Cyclist said and vicious. Don't forget, all birds are direct descendants of dinosaurs... so watch your back ;)

Used to see lots of bird fights when I lived in Wales, whether it was Kites attacking just about everything or little Wrens squabbling over territory. Even the chickens used to kick off once in a while :)

Mr K.is saying exactly the same thing about his hair.

Just to add to my fist post today, these have been added to my diet since early May https://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes-directory/nutrialign.html#:~:text=Nutri%2DAlign%20Multivit%20includes%2020,minimise%20low%20carb%20flu%20symptoms. Interestingly, I found these without this link. I have also added iron supplement, spinach powder and upped the inulin. I have recently added Natto K after reading about Natto/Vit K and covid in Japan. As the song goes, little things mean a lot. I really need a full blood count to see the full picture but the placebo effect is good enough.

Thanks for that information @Alien Aspie and @Muddy Cyclist .
I don't trust mapies anyway.
Round my road ,even when people were out, although not so much during this Covid 19, people leave their windows open, the top window even though they're out all day. The magpies used to go to the open window and sneak in, spend some time in the bungalow and then come out with something. It was thought that there were a spate of burglaries for a while. I did tell people, but they didn't believe me, so I kept my mouth shut after that. There was even a helicopter flying over the bungalows for a period of time looking for the burglars.

We also have buzzards here. They hover in the thermals. When I had several cats quite some years ago, They would swoop down on my cats sleeping on top of the potting shed or on top of the garage roof. I remember that day one swooped down on the garage and made off with one of my cats. She was beautiful.

None of my cats slept on the potting shed roof or the garage roof again.
