What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a morning of sun and slight breeze here in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of toad in the hole using fibreFlour came in at 5.3 this am

Youngest son and family are joining us later in the week at our little house on the prairie. This sparked discussions about who can see whom. I did the usual manly thing, nodded in the right places and kept my gob shut. Bit upsetting for some family members. Ah well.

@gennepher, great news from Adelaide, broke the spell after the incident of the can opener and the uplighter.
Wonderful landscapes and beachscapes @Muddy Cyclist - great colour pallets. I can feel the warmth of the day on the beach and hear the laughter of children.
@geefull I like that yellow light reflected on the water and even picked up along the hills. Flicking has certainly worked well, picking up the foreground and adding interest in the waves.
@ianpspurs - everyone talking water and you are walking the walk - times with grandchildren are the best of days. Glad to hear that there is no Pret - far too confusing when it comes to masks and the use of nuts.
@SlimLizzy - please send tomatoes and courgettes but ensure that they are socially distancing. My parents, who live in the Cherante-Maritime always seem to have an abundance of such things - my dad lately is talking about his ‘tomato farm’ - I think that they have taken over the potager - they do freeze loads, do a lot of swapping and giving away - but then so does everyone else that they know.

Hope that everyone has the best day that they can have. Bin day tomorrow and the parade of the bin lorry. For now, koffy.

Good Morning 6.4 for me today.

So off to Powis Castle Gardens for a booked slot at 1 o'clock, just hope it isn't as busy as Snowdon was the weekend. Seems very strange having to organise and book ahead to visit NT properties. Still if it's too busy we can always turn around or visit some quieter areas I know and Plein Air paint at least Wilfrid the VW camper gets a good run.

@gennepher a scare but good news on family front it's a shame they are so far away but I'm sure your mask deign will be great and helpful, good how kids still need help from their parents.

I trust all will have an interesting and informative day. Keep safe.
 
4.7 this morning. Last night my BS was 4.7 before dinner. 2 hrs after dinner it was 4.8 - which has never happened before - or at least not since I was diagnosed T2.

Dog walk shortly then off to buy some special compost for a rhodedendron that desperately needs a more acid soil. Then off to the farm to get milk and eggs.

Yesterday did loads of admin. Mr K was watching cricket so I was able to get loads done.

Ah, The family Covid conversation and visiting dilemma, been there and seem to have the same conversation every time we see our kids and grandchildren, does not get any easier our kids are so protective of us, difficult times.

Great Zen art, who's been practicing? Seriously though this is very well done I'm impressed so many elements of brush work.

So much happening around here - this month's newsletter will be so full. @dunelm fibre flour toad in the hole has been added to The Food Fairy's appraisal targets. @gennepher so glad to hear grandsons are clear. @Muddy Cyclist have a great time on your wander. @Krystyna23040 simply spiffing numbers lately - please don't confuse the compost with the eggs and milk. For some reason this song from Primary School has become an earworm since #beachgate. This is the only version I have tracked down so far. Since I'm mostly wearing shorts these days* and Julie says I'm like a big kid it makes sense. * and a UV protective cap for bald pate. plus polo shirt with badge (well,logo)

Morning...in the middle of a virtual interview in Manchester thankfully taking a short break which was long enough for me to make myself a coffee...didn't sleep that well last night trying hard to concentrate...woke to a 6.7...keep safe everyone.

No shopping today.
Garden work planned before it gets too hot. MrSlim has said he will be here at least three moths so planted some more lettuce, radish and beetroot.
Picked more beans, to add to the mountain in the fridge.
@dunelm if you saw the photo of the snake you know where I live. You can be socially distanced and pick your own beans and tomatoes. Those are free, but you must take a dozen courgettes as well.
I also have growing a couple of aubergines, but am keeping those. First time of success with those prickly plants. Am thinking to try them in a lasagne type dish.
And @gennepher two avocado plants. Grown accidentally from stones discarded into the compost bin.

Lucky escape. No I didn’t smell it, I lost my sense of smell as a result of the cochlear operation. And neither did the fire alarms go off. I cannot hear a fire alarm even with the speech processor on. They flash a light, but I wouldn’t have seen the nearest one from where I was standing.


EDIT: The first thing I did in this bungalow when I moved here was to have a door put in every room to the outside. I have been caught in a fire before where I had to climb down a rope ladder from the second floor of an old building to escape from fire. So, me getting these doors to the back garden put in just in case there might be a fire, has saved my bacon nearly 20 years later.

Friends laughed at me saying you don’t need all those doors, even the door installer who had to knock out bricks and stuff, thought I was crackers for wanting so many doors.

I would do the same again if I ever moved house.

If I had left the room for just two minutes to make a cuppa tea it would have been a different story.

I am not taking the chance with the other uplighter. I am not turning it on and it is going to join it's twin in the back garden.

I will have to look for new ones.
 
As well as the bag of compost with a weird name for the rhododendron Mr K also bought two bags of topsoil, a bag of ordinary compost, some manure and some special food for the poorly rhododendron. Looks like some serious gardening is going to take place over this week. My rhododendron is now in a pot with its special (I think it is called something like ericaceous) compost.

While Mr K was in the garden department I did a quick browse around the rest of the shop and found a Thermos Food Flask which was half price. Instead of using the kitchen and microwave when I am at work all day (whenever that might be) I will bring my stir fry or soup in the flask. Less surfaces to touch and clean both before and afterwards.

@ianpspurs I managed not to get the eggs and milk muddled with the compost.
