What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

good evening all :)

4.4 today

had a lazy day today, only going out to the post office and to collect mum's shopping list for the shopping trek tomorrow ;)

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@HarryBeau - ouch that bill's not funny, at least it got fixed fairly quickly though

@dunelm - I love how you managed to create such a solid landscape with your skillful minimal strokes :joyful:

@gennepher - I like your joyous colourful horse :) and I do think that the IPastel app is working well for you :) , hopefully the flu jab 'activation' period will go off without a hitch.

@Alien Aspie - very effective depiction of fire you've given us :)

@Muddy Cyclist - I missed your birthday :sorry: so allow me wish you many Happy (if belated) Returns and an absence of fluffy brushes ;)

art bit - this one is after a work by Michael Morgan

Thanks for birthday wishes. Brushes did remain fluffless.

I like this landscape and seascape today, very summery and well painted I like the brushwork inthe near fields and distant hills.

I wonder what health problems that caused for us children?

And why was it done when we were in the swimming pool?
What with that and having my feet X-rayed when I went for shoe fitting, used to like seeing the bones in my feet, but the damage is unthinkable.

I remember those foot x-rays before you had your Clark's or Start-Rite shoes or sandals (both shoes I detested...) to check your foot size and width...

Just a link I found in case anyone is interested in fuller info on the flu jab
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/key...,protection against influenza virus infection

But here is this excerpt which says about the 14 days I mentioned:

"Can I get seasonal flu even though I got a flu vaccine this year?
Yes. It’s possible to get sick with flu even if you have been vaccinated (although you won’t know for sure unless you get a flu test). This is possible for the following reasons:

  • You may be exposed to a flu virus shortly before getting vaccinated or during the period that it takes the body to gain protection after getting vaccinated. This exposure may result in you becoming ill with flu before the vaccine begins to protect you. (Antibodies that provide protection develop in the body about 2 weeks after vaccination.)
  • "
Then it goes on to say more reasons

Hi Muddy,
Those Xray machines had a polar diagram that projected upwards and the beam irradiated ones gonads. I had that done to me a few times in shoe shops.
I worked in medical physics for nine years after early retirements and the physicists were into radiation protection and I found some of their information interesting.

Got an "informative", because THIS wasn't an option ...

:wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::woot:

One is only protected against the variants included in the vaccine.
There is nothing to stop one getting another variant flu that we have not been vaccinated against.

They believed it harmless, that's what they were told.
Rachel Carson took the lid off the pesticide issue in:
Silent Spring

Trouble is, it is still occuring.
One slug pellet puts an olympic sized swimming pool of water out of pesticide limits!

Really, about the slug pellet? I never use them, I have frog ponds...

I'm not sure as it's most likely the bank of moms and dads who will end up paying. Those attending also knowingly flouted the rules so that's a lot of youngsters who obviously don't really care. I can only hope that proportionally this is still a minority of the younger generation and that the greater proportion who I still believe have respect continue to do so.
Yes, it is highly likely that their parents will end up paying. I also do hope that the majority of the younger generation are more sensible.

I am afraid that when I was young I wasn't very sensible!
However if one is fortunate you live to get older and life gets more precious. But some young people tend to lack wisdom.

Thank you @geefull - I looked up Michael Morgan - you have certainly captured that autumnal palate and the sort of two part story with those wonderful hills and sky in the background

Good morning everyone from the Mittwoch celebration that is International Bin Day in the dark and dangerous north. I am going to stand outside and clap the cavalcade. We used to throw turnips at them but since electricity got here a couple of years ago we have gone all PC.

The care home where MIL lives held a meeting yesterday. So, from 6pm today, only her legal carer (my wife’s twin sister) will be able to visit her in her apartment. She will though be able to go out. Plans for seeing grandchildren over the half term holiday will now need to be re-thought and we may need to dust off those zoom quizzes.

I hope that your day is good to you and yours. Koffy time.

Edit: 4.9 this am

Gave a winner, but hug for MIL and Lockdown spoiling family plans.

More impressive art, and if that figure is you in the picture I can see why you favour the Fedora style hat. :)

Just an informative note we have not been able to visit MIL in care home for months now, they locked down, opened up, locked down but awhile back decided to stop all visits with no date to start again.

Good Morning and 6.1 for me today, yes I did have 2 slices of cake last night so I consider not to bad a BG in circumstances. :)

Floor man come through to measure and work out quote this morning. YIpee!

Have to go to MILs bungalow today and get the rest of loft emptied. :banghead:

Time continues to conspire against me, I hope time is kinder to you all. Keep safe.

I wasn't always very sensible either when I was younger. I do.agree that as we get older life does get more precious.
