What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@gennepher - inspired waterfall - love the colours and the poem.

Small sketch today, 6 x 3 on a bit of rice paper which I think is actually made of bamboo fibres. One of the boats in the park has capsized against an island in the lake - nice fishing spot. Hope everyone has a good day. RIP Peter Alliss. Time for my koffy.

Thank you for the compliments @dunelm

A great little ink sketch. I can 'see' the rest of that lake...

5.3 this morning and I should be relating how good I've been, especially as it was 4.5 before bed. In truth, yesterday I did worship at the altar of the fatted crumpet and its crumpety companion the holy toast. So how I got those low scores I don't know :wideyed:

I had an odd dream in which I married a cat. She looked like any other female but had cat DNA (think Natasha Kinski in Cat People) and the only way I could tell was that she purred. Very strange.

Enjoy the new week and stay safe :)

Some Epic posts already. @RFSMarch wonderful turn of phrase: cave dweller and Rozzington Bear. Ever thought of being a journo?:angelic: @gennepher Epic tale of how to overcome the forces of - well, certainly not darkness but, evil. Bravo The Genster. @Muddy Cyclist #prayfortheFlooringman and good work on the Old Pulteney research but remember to keep it on the QT. Swipey relayed a tale of 4.4ishness this very winter's day. Pinch of salt (Veruca?), trust issues and dislike of winter aside what a good day yesterday was. Splendid video call with S'oton branch; tracked down local Fen Cekery:) and pwopper stick of sprouts (with a frost on 'em) @alf_Josiah; mini Manchego acquired via Waitrose; Electrican does exist, has made contact and promises to be here Wednesday to resolve niggles. Spurs win NLD and Mr Jameson knows his stuff. Today a man is putting up a new fence between me and a nice lady called Steph - good fences make good neighbours Mr Bobby Frost says. The cute L'il gal in Saturday's image is with us all day:woot::woot:. With much prayer, your help and Lionel Blue's dictum - don't take it so heavy deary- plus Malcolm Guite's Advent poems the semblance of a deal, which recognises my sovereignty, twixt me and LCHF outside purely mackerel and avocado salad is in sight. This is still where I'm at with this WOE (Eerily May like - nothing has changed):
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Luke 11:11-13…Phew.

Heh! I will look into it. I made myself do the treadmill.
Wearing the soft knee supports as soon as I got back and through the night until I took them off around 3am did some kind of strange neoprene magic and at least that session is done.

A day of company admin, Britwatch site bobbins and house cleaning. I am so rock and roll!

Fatted crumpet and the holy toast - HEE!!!

Fancying Catty Crumpet, eh what?
There is definitely something Freudian in there some where!:)

Fbg 6.1

My project yesterday was further working on The Great Wall between me and Mr Insensitive, the back garden bit where his security light does the beam me up Scotty scene several times a night. Why it has to be pointed towards my garden and bedroom window, I will never know. He has had several security light in the past each one more brighter and intrusive than the other (yes, I now know I can get Environmental Health on to this, but past experiences with him, and because of his obtuseness and horrid derogatory behaviour to me over the years, I feel it will cause me more hassle than good).

My temporary bamboo idea with the cut tall bamboo with loads of leaves worked pretty well against his Christmas lights lighting up my bedroom like the Blackpool Illuminations. I did have loads of bamboo that did need cutting down anyway, so that was win win for me. What I ended up doing was using the poles and stands which have my parasols in...yes I bought those also to keep my privacy from Mr prying eyes Insensitive who would look over the wall at me in a sneering way (he used to taunt my wee little Hearing Dog Meg when I was not in the garden and get her into a barking frenzy. I caught him oneday at it....), and tying the bamboo to those poles and placing them near my bedroom door window, and it was successful in keeping his Xmas flashing lights from my bedroom.

Many years ago, when I first moved here, there was a washing line between my bedroom door window and Mr Insensitive's two security lights, one is above his kitchen door and lights up his back garden as bright as daylight, and then there is the bright one above his garage which is literally on top of my bedroom door window. And I put two sheets on the washing line, and left them permanently there. That worked too. But wind and time stole those sheets, but I had more old sheets the previous homeowner had left. So that lasted a few years. Then no more sheets left. Then I built various ideas to keep his security lights at bay, and his Xmas lights, but the wind is very strong here coming directly from the sea, and is destructive.

So we now come to today. The security lights are brighter than ever, and so are his Xmas lights more intrusive than ever. So, hence The Great Wall. It has been in the planning for a week, while I was working on the grotto outside the bathroom window to keep those multicoloured flashing Xmas lights at bay from the bathroom.

I have a Bay tree, which J bought me any years ago. It has grown through the willow tree on the other side of my property to Mr Insensitive. And I noticed it was swaying far too much in the strong winds. So, I investigated before it could come down in the high winds and cause damage on that side. It was much taller than I thought it was. So, I decided to cut it down, but left a metre or so at the base. Then, once it was down, I found the reason for it swaying. The trunk of the bay tree had been rubbing against the willow trunk, and had worn more than half the Bay tree's trunk away, making it very unstable. Then I saw there were another half a dozen new Bay trees growing from the base, they are about a metre tall, so I didn't feel unhappy any more about cutting down J's Bay tree.

So I had about a 4 metre tall cut Bay tree with loads of branches and leaves. My idea yesterday was to place it in an old broken wheelie bin (lid was broken so I got sent a new one but they never took the old one away, which I wasn't initially pleased about, but am now delighted because I had a huge 'plant pot' to hold this cut Bay tree. I was working yesterday on how to stabilise it. And I needed more cut trees to further this Great Wall either side the cut Bay tree. I had already cut some down a few weeks ago, and was wondering what to do/dispose of them. I had to wonder no more. They went on either side of the Bay tree, to increase the length of The Great Wall. But before they went up, I decorated them in green and blue thick tinsel. Then I found I had enough to weave the thick tinsel in and out of these bare branches. Thus creating a barrier.

But I didn't put it up until dusk when Mr Insensitive would not be able to see as I was doing it...

I anchored and wedged the wheelie bin so it will be stable, and filled it with water. I don't have enough stones and rocks for ballast for a huge black wheelie.

I have no idea what The Great Wall looks like in daylight. But it was a success for me. Not one bit of light from the flashing Xmas lights came through to my bedroom door window, nor did one scrap of his security lights come through either into my bedroom.

SUCCESS!

I know the sea wind will have a field day eventually, and so I have two back up plans.
1. I have ivy and honeysuckle which is very virulent and will be planting those today, to grow over it.
2. Second back up plan, which may have to be an interim measure while ivy and honeysuckle grow, is a length of washing line I bought a couple of days ago (I don't use a washing line any more, I cannot reach up to hang washing), and some black cheap shower curtains. The washing line will go up and the shower curtains looped on to it, and drawn at night between me and Mr Insensitive, should they be needed as light protection, while the ivy and honeysuckle grow.

I had done my digital painting for this morning, but put the iPad down for a moment, and Popeye leapt on it and was scrabbling the screen with his soft paw pads (claws sheathed) furiously. He has discovered that he can do things to the screen, and he created his own painting on top of mine. This is not the first time he has done this to my painting. And I had forgotten to save as I went along :(

I cannot wait until dawn...

@Alien Aspie (The Threadfather ™) IDK who the heck Natasha Kinski is or what Cat People is beyond a film. I do know what crumpets (prefer Muffin(s) - no sniggering at the back, chaps) and toast are. All warm, buttery and comforting - is Ms Kinsky at all similar? Rosington Bear, well done on the treadmill. So, I take a cup of hot coffee to the fencer and Julie tells me Virgin Wine have gulled her into buying 13 bottles of wine for £9.88 because we really need more wine and boxes here:arghh:

He has gone down the road too far many a time @lindisfel
I have been the model neighbour.
He has repeatedly been the neighbour from hell many many many times.
I cannot afford to sell up and move away.
And if I did, my next place would have no neighbours for many many many miles...

Natasha starred in the remake of Cat People in '82, David Bowie wrote and sang the title theme music. Still one of my favourite tunes, the extended version anyway.

Ms Kinski is also an avid cricket connoisseur who prefers crumpets and knows that muffins are subsets of mules :)

Here is the 'safe for work' version of Bowie's song

And a more humorous view of 'cat ladies'

ps I lied about the cricket thing
That was going quite well until I realised you had mentioned Bowie and cats in one post- pretty much my nightmare. Ah, Muffin the Mule. When was that decriminalised?:angelic: I rather suspected Ms K couldn't pick a googly from a Chinaman
ETA: Don't know what happened in my childhood but I have had a dread of cats for as long as i can remember. Julie is highly allergic to cats - massive doses of tablets before visiting No 1 son and still not a good outcome.

Old Brock had been in my garden the last few days digging latrines in the grass and pooing in them.
So I had to move three loads of poo this am with a long handled shovel.

Such pleasures of a bucolic life, but we Stewards of the planet do not mind as long as we don't fall over and rub our noses in it!
:)

good evening all :)

4.7 today

a quiet day here today, hardly a soul to be seen outside, not even many dog walkers. At least it's not too cold, I have amassed a fine collection of hats and scarves since being diagnosed and losing weight, like many other of our number I really feel the cold now :sorry:

Tried some LC baking today, I found a recipe supposed to be suitable either savoury for pastryish use or sweet version as a biscuit. Suffice it to say I could corner the market in roof tiles :hilarious: I'll stick to LC cake ;)

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@ianpspurs - 'Glenmorangie' you say, many years ago when we first lived in the area we toured the distillery to see the sixteen men of Tain at work. At that time the tour included a taste of over proof, undiluted product in the maturing sheds :D nowadays the tax man counts every drop in the bonded warehouse ;)

@gennepher - lovely long landscape vista with the distant mountains and fine waterfalls, It works vry well and I like your palette of greens :) The grotto is looking splendid :joyful:

@dunelm - another strong sketch, the waterfall flows well :)

@HarryBeau - yay for the negative test

@SlimLizzy - here's hoping for dry sleep in your near future ;)

@Alien Aspie - glad the boiler is fixed, it's getting too cold to be without ;)
and another fine and thought provoking sketch, thank you :)

art bit -

inspired by a photo I saw on the net :)

Morning...after a challenging week I decided I should put the tree & decorations up...all up now although it took most of my day as I did it so reluctantly...hoping my Christmas spirit will return at some point before Christmas as there will be visitors (numbers limited) so I have to make an effort...since the negative covid test my cold has now gone into full swing more Lemsip Max capsules arrive yesterday ...no FBG today having a couple of days off...more coffee brewing...keep safe.
Hugs for worsening cold, winner for striving to find Christmas Spirit. If the spirit continues to elude you, hit the Gin. :) Second thoughts, hit the Gin anyway.:joyful:

Good morning everyone from another seasonal damp squib of a start in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of moules-frites came in a not unexpected 6.2 this am - nice though, Mrs Miggins had yearnings for a lunch at a restaurant in Arromanches.

Boxes and boxes and boxes and boxes - contents now adorning every nook and cranny - red, white, green, silver, gold and on and on. More battery powered light strands than Blackpool. May that be enough. Daughter arriving this morning - murmurations of garden centres - may not be enough after all.

@Muddy Cyclist - great event inspired sketch and haiku - is this the shape of things to come during parquet week?

Thanks, I have however cleared a path to my Art Room, however art room is also full its kitchen chairs, fridge, toaster and such so a bit cramped, will see how the muse feels about being so cramped.:)

Like your island in the park, was anyone shipwrecked and marooned, is his name Robinson? :)

Dangerous places them Garden Centres, take care.

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

A 5.7 this morning on the meter of mystery and misbehaving.

A very laid back start to the Morening here in TilehurstTowers, then the telephonic communicator made demanding noises which sent Mrs J and me and me's into panic mode, rushed insulin, breakfast and medication. Mrs J loaded me into the car then kindly drove to the arranged meeting place with number 1 son. Where he dragged me across fields through prehistoric or so it seems woods, then 2 hours later said son made me purchase koffy's. Mrs J loved it, the house to herself.
This afternoons plans could consist of time travelling on the sofa and no need to put a walk in later this afternoon.
Must go and rearrange the cushions into pillow formation.

I find this writer challenging at times - not intellectually but having an interesting world view. I quite like this and think it may offer something to the organised religion /worship of a building discussion. As always, just my quirky take on life. Obviously I could just be becoming mellowed with the mellow research substances. Mum's the word guys and gals - walls have ears and The Meeja ™ are out to get us. Tinfoil hats on at all times.

Cathedral
The branched arch in the wild wood is my cathedral broad
the many greens of its canopy, painting to adorn its halls
Stained glass frozen colour shamed by painted changing skies
A precious feast to feed on and unction for our eyes
Spring dawn in vibrant song is its hymn of chorister praise
haunting calls of Greenshank prophesying the wild winds ways.
Springs annual festival with bubbling Curlew song
That man may be the Steward that he failed to be ere long.
Can our Place keep chiselled and honed by the embrace of time?
May the hand of man be lightened in the healing of our world.
