Fbg 6.6
I went out yesterday morning again, very early.

But temperatures were low. Minus 5 C and my car was a frosted iceberg. Some serious defrosting needed.

So I didn't do a run on dual carriageways for car driving practice so I am okay on Tuesday for driving to the hospital appointment. I just stayed on gritted roads and went to the Post Office in the next village. I have not been there before. I noticed it the other day, and that it had a village shop as well. So that combines getting my money out of post office, getting stamps, and some food shopping all in one go. And it is no further than the High Street Post Office I normally use.

There was some lovely food in there. So I bought some. But the credit card machine for the food part wasn't working. There was a bad internet connection. So the lady had to wait while her husband served me in the Post Office, and I paid her cash.

What was really nice was they both wore clear face shields which was great for me and lipreading. And I told them so!

I posted some postcards and letters. And I explained about Postcrossing and sending others postcards, as well as receiving them. And that people from other countries complained to me that the postage stamps from the U.K. are boring. The postmaster's face lit up.

He explained he was interested in philately. And when special issues came out he got them in. My High Street post office won't do this, neither will another post office I use. So I said I was very interested. Then he showed me some new Welsh ones he has just got in. I'll have them, I said. He also showed me some postcards which go with special edition stamps, but he didn't have any of those stamps left.

However I do because I ordered some of these ones before Christmas online from the Royal Mail. I don't know if you remember but my order was split up, parts were late, and one part wasn't delivered at all. I had to chase that up, and it was all more bother than it was worth for the sum of money I had to pay out.

Now I have a lovely Postmaster who is interested in stamps. He showed some cards he cannot sell me until next Thursday, and there will be stamps to celebrate our National Parks to go with them. I said those cards had my name on them! So, I will go first thing next Thursday and get those cards and stamps.

I am highly delighted. And it is fantastic they wear the clear shields that enable me lipread!

If we get further restrictions in lockdown, then this Post Office and Village Shop is less than a mile as the crow flies. I cannot ask for more! You know where I will be shopping now! No big stores for me any more!!!

My painting in Procreate. I was trying to create the frost at sunrise. Not an easy task!

BRILLIANT news @gennepher
The road less travelled is certainly producing way more then expected.

Perhaps some one is guiding You from above ?
And providing places of solace & comfort during these hard day's .

At least that is how I'd like to see it :)

Great news and easy to tell the joy at the stamps...sound such a nice visit.

So pleased for you .

Great effort at capturing Jack Frost, lik eyou say not easy.

My dad collected British stamps from the age of 15 until he died at 80. He had special deliveries of all new releases some came unused in packets others were posted to him with postmarks from the relevant places, sadly no one in the family wanted to continue doing it once dad passed on and mom sold them to a stamp company for a small fortune.

Good Morning and 5.4 for me today.

We are under yet another blanket of snow with more promised so a day indoors unless Mrs MC can't get her friend to do her horse when I shall be having to get on my bike and try and Cycle there again.

Let time not get the better of you today it doesn't wait for us. Keep safe.

Yes, I can still have my adventures even in lockdown!!!!

I think so, believe and things will work out for the best.

Thank you :)

I am so highly delighted with these stamps and new postmaster.

You have a great day @jjraak

Almost impossible to catch Jack Frost!
Thank you @Muddy Cyclist

Those stamps would be worth a small fortune.
I had my uncle's extensive stamp collection when I was a child, which was worth a lot, and I added to it. But it got taken from me. I was devastated. So, I have never collected again. Your dad's stamp collection will have given someone great joy (albeit the stamp company making its considerable bit from it).

A lot of Postcrossers, who I send the postcards to are stamp collectors as well, so I would like to widen their UK stamp collections with these special editions this new Post Office will get in stock for me. And it delights me that I will be able to add to their collections.

You have a good day!

.Good morning everyone on a snowless start in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of wild mushrooms in a cheesy sauce with home made fibreflour bread came in at 5.1 this am
Very icy in the park yesterday. The flooded parts due to previous downpours are now skating rinks and not at all cooperative for boots with little tread left - what fun. Still, the sun was out and the frozen grass gave out a pleasant crump when walked on.
Sir John Bell (Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford) on the box yesterday - talking calmly, clearly and positively about vaccines and associated topics) - good to hear.

@Muddy Cyclist - the call of Etchinghill is strong within you. Another fine piece of art.
@geefull - hope the sore eye calms down soon, lovely tree composition though.
@gennepher - great result with post office - fine food and bonus philately find - dead chuffed for you - another fine dawn and frosty capture - I know what you mean about frost - very tricky.
@lindisfel - looks like a log fire day.

Last scrap of hemp paper that I had left - 6 x 4 inches. Hope your day is a good one. Best get the koffy going.

I love this morning's painting. Brilliant. So detailed for such a small piece of paper. It is about the size of painting I want to do for my postcrossing postcards.

Have a great day @dunelm

I am not sure whether a cardio boxing session dislodged the Libre sensor or whether DOMS in my arms is the issue but yesterday it was running consistently low with a massive spike for burgers, hash browns and a tin of beans and sausages and then straight back down to the red. It was red all night long and my arms hurt like hell both yesterday and today ...

I had a generous slug of water when I woke up to get it from 3.6 -> 3.8 -> 4.2 ➡️ and suspect it will bobble around that and low... would muscle pain in my arm affect the sensor?

Who knows... but it annoys me when it does this so early (still have double digit days to go) because the estimated hbA1c is going to be meaningless on this sensor's readings. That being said I did feel extraordinarily tired last night while trying to wrote a preview but it had been an intense day with tennis back.

Greetings all whether the weather be snow, ice, dark damp and meh as here or scorchio if in sunny climes. Seems to be a curates egg of a set of posts since I last popped in. Triumph of a day yesterday for @gennepher, safe negotiation of tricky underfoot conditions for @dunelm, muscle problems and unreliable Swipey data for @RFSMarch. I hope Mrs MC's friend can spare you a potentially hazardous cycle journey @Muddy Cyclist (great fbg btw). @geefull I hope the eye issue clears up pronto and great art as per. @lindisfel very when icicles hang by the door photo - stay near the fire/log burner day methinks. 4.3 but via Swipey so Ts and Cs apply.

What, no skates?

Thanks for Etching hill painting compliment.

A good use of your final scrap of paper. A nicely placed and drawn figure giving it perspective. What surface are you going to use now it's all used up?

Difficult to know what happens with these sensors - I know that mine gets all fed up if it’s not placed well on my arm and then I go and sleep on it - very low readings, takes ages to sort itself out and a painful arm. It also goes crazy after a very hot or a cold shower.

Thank you @Muddy Cyclist . Mrs Miggins keeps telling me to get my skates on - I thought she was talking about cooking fish. Bit of a slip with the beard on the figure but the chimp in my head wanted a covid mask it seems. I still have standard white rice paper and a heap of the very delicate yellow that my mother sent to me (brushes need to be quiet dry) as well as bits that I received in a sample pack from a Chinese art shop in Brighton - I have been enjoying using small pieces so ought to sort out those sample pieces.

The shower issue baffled me for a while until others said don't swipe for some time after as sensor takes umbrage for a while. Is your Swipey usually within walking distance of your A1c @RFSMarch - or anyone else for that matter? I've had no A1c for just over a year and I'm in no rush to do so until I and many others have been fully vaccinated with scores in and verified. If Swioey is reasonably close to true level I don't see any urgency for me but supporting evidence from others would be helpful.

Thank you @gennepher - I got a sample pack of papers from Oriental Arts in Brighton (https://www.orientalartsbrighton.co.uk/product/paper-sample/) but these bits of hemp were from my mother. Must be some lurking in your tardis somewhere.

Ah! Thank you.

I had found some sample packs online, but they were ridiculous prices for the amount of samples. That one is a reasonable price. Might try spending some money online today seeing as the snow is falling fast and furious here...

I need my wellies in the house, and they are in my garage with some art stock...maybe I had better get the wellies (they have a deep tread) now before this gets too deep...but I do have those metal snowshoes in the house...

Maybe I had better just search the bungalow Tardis today...

Coffee first while I decide...

@dunelm @ianpspurs it was ok up until that point and I could actually feel the sensor on my arm during the session in terms of a strange tugging feeling with various punches - but it is also stuck down with rock tape so I assumed at the time it was the tape tugging with the force of various punches but it has was super painful yesterday. Plus I also need to factor in meds and low carb which sometimes makes it run low too...
It was a pretty intense day yesterday with tennis on all day and working into the evening transcribing and writing a preview and at 9pm I could barely keep my eyes open... so .. who knows. Will chug lots of water today (haven't been drinking as much as I had a day off because my arms were too sore to do resistance and weights stuff.

Yes, it’s a bit of a flaw and of course will effect calculated averages.
A1c not taken for a while but is due shortly.
I used to think that umbrage was something that could be made or purchased - something nasty and unpleasant until I looked up the etymology - latin - shadow - ‘shadowy outline’, giving rise to ‘ground for suspicion’, whence the current notion of ‘offense’ - mind you, I am easily side tracked with all manner of trivia.
