What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@Mrs T 123 is right. Popeye is really lucky to have you to take care of him @gennepher.
Thank you very much @Krystyna23040
But also I am very lucky to have him take care of me. It is 2 am now, and I have just been to the front room to check on him, and he was warm and moving. Two hours ago, at midnight he came from the front room to check I was okay, his whiskers checking every inch of my face, waking me up. So I cuddled him and we both went to sleep....

good evening all :)

4.7 today

quite late on the go this evening ;)

I'm having flashbacks to the black and white TV we had when I was a child, fireball tuner anyone :sorry:

Hope your day is treating you as kindly as you could wish :)

@dunelm - fine foliage and a fine and handsome crow, you manage to give your birds so much personality :joyful:

@gennepher - I didn't know whether to give a 'hug' for you and for Popeye or a 'winner' for still producing such an evocative and impressive piece of art :) I'm so glad Popeye is ok and please take good care of your damaged finger.

@ianpspurs - a good day indeed, congratulations on your good result :)

@True Blue - keeping my fingers crossed for good outcomes.

@Muddy Cyclist - A lovely start to the next painting with those distant spires and that majestic tree :) and I enjoyed your recorder collaboration thank you.

art bit - fairly monochrome ;)

Thank you @geefull
Popeye is fine tonight. Just checked on him, and now I can go back to sleep.Yes, taking care of my finger thank you. It is very awkward, I need it to heal as fast as possible.

A brilliant seascape from you, as always. Just had a 'swim' in that sea :)
It is probably something I will never do again.
Now, I had better get back to sleep before Popeye comes back in to wake me up to check I am okay...

Fbg 6.7

I checked on Popeye in the early hours and he is nice and warm and responsive even when asleep...and then a bit later he comes into the bedroom whiskers tickling my face to check I am alive, and he suggested breakfast for him.'. This was 2:30 am. I need a nap now...

Yesterday almost every variety of small bird was in my garden. Some longtailedtits came right up to me. I am assuming it was because Mrs Blackbird was literally at my side watching me eat my breakfast. Then they suddenly realised a very big person was there (me), and flew away, but not before I'd had a good few seconds to see their fluffy feathers on their heads. They were so gorgeous.

The ravens are making a racket on the cherry trees again.

My digital painting for today in Procreate
Memories. Crosby shore again, and one grandchild...
Now this doddery old lady needs a nap...

Lovely - buckets and spades and rock pools - always a great hit with children and does invoke good memories

G'Morning all the cool cats on this thread!
Happy Friday...

FBG this morning after a healthy dinner of roasted trout, asparagus and greens plus raspberries and 2 naughty squares of dark chocolate came back at a much better 5.8. after the horrors of my reaction to the Astra Zeneca covid vaccination...now settled.

Another interesting side effect was periods of wind - it was as though I had the full brass section of the London Symphony Orchestra trapped inside me...

Today I'm running a webinar and thankfully the flatulance orchestra I've just described is now an occasional trumpet player as my post jab "recovery" accelerates!

Have a wonderful day one and all. 692c871bb94f2f1ab16a984f8aa6aded--so-funny-hilarious.jpg

I have decided I am not coming back until I get some kind of meaningful job. It is just too hard to have people cheerfully tell me "oh things will get better, you'll see" when quite clearly for someone in my circumstances they will not, any time soon.
I can't even afford to have a Libre sensor for a full month. THAT is the reality of my situation - not some self-indulgent moaning. The last straw was hearing a colleague who clearly has NO tennis knowledge making basic errors and a complete lack of research. This is my bread and butter knowledge but it is who you know, not what you know and after 8 full years being on the outside looking in... I just can't anymore. It makes no difference how hard I work. None.

I have NO guaranteed income and am living hand to mouth and have been since the summer. For anyone who has been in this situation then you know how it feels and more importantly HOW I FEEL RIGHT NOW. So while it may well turn around, right NOW I am in a deep dark hole.
If you don't know how that feels then think yourself lucky and keep your fortune cookie sentiments to yourself.

I may be back if I find work. If I don't, then I won't.

All the best.
I am so sorry @RFSMarch that you find yourself being visited so determinedly by my old friend Black Dog - I suppose that I am used to it’s visits over the years. I don’t know you but I wish you well and hope that you can climb out of this. My one comment would be - GET HELP - you are ill and need help - start hear -https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/stress-anxiety-depression/mental-health-helplines/.

Thank you for art and music appreciation.

You were lucky to have a black and white TV as a child, we didn't see TV in our home until I was 14 years old. I remembers my grandads had them before we did and watching Muffin the Mule and Bill and Ben at grandparents homes. :)

I like your Blue Period painting, monochrome pictures are not easy to do but you have cracked the method with this Sea scape, wondeful.

Golf repaired :) but no sign of my bike :(

Muddy Cycle ride today saw me venture to the South of Cannock Chase an area of clay rather than bunter pebble beds. This is the view of the Three Sisters of Lichfield Cathedral form Beaudesert. It's the only Cathedral in the UK with three spires. The scene feels medieval I can imagine the pilgrims getting this first glimpse of the spires and the welcome in one of the many inns.

So A4 watercolour and I will finish it Friday as I have to get on with dinner.

Nice subject, good start pleased for you that the Golf is now good to go - one you are allowed somewhere to go to

A Beach a Beach my Kingdom for a Beach, a bit dramatic I know but that art is as you say very reminiscent of so many Beach outings in the U.K. A lovely character so well drawn and the reflections in thewet sand, just superb.

B&W TV’s used to be all the rage - like flares and winkle pickers but you can probably watch TV in B&W nowadays on your phone. Smashing monochrome view - can we swim in the sea if we take a picture of ourselves with our Kodak brownie?

I do. Thanks @Krystyna23040
As soon as I realised, a year ago, that lockdown was imminent, I stocked up on my first aid box.
The one thing I didn’t have enough of was cotton wool last year, for Popeye’s several abscesses, because of that feral cat attacking him.
I have enough cotton wool now!!!!
That was a good move. I did the same with my first aid box - especially with plasters for the occasional finger slicing incidents. Is the feral cat still around?

I wasn't talking about the three spires being the spiritual part of the painting @Muddy Cyclist
I was talking about the sky, the old oak tree, the landscape.

I am not into magnificent buildings. A cathedral is nature, the trees arching over, the landscape, that is spiritual, not bricks/stones and mortar.

I do like very ancient small churches and holy wells however.

But in your painting I was referring to the sky as the main part of spiritually in your painting

:)
There is a tin chapel in High Newton by the Sea that is very spiritual to sit in. It is always open, and often has good birds near it in autumn.

Lincoln Cathedral had three spires for much of it life but were taken down when they got dangerous. The towers are quite high anyway.
D.

Good Morning and 5.6 for me today, surprised as I was tempted by two home made jam tarts and custard for pudding last night.

Muddy Cycle ride this morning, music to record and art to finish. Mrs MC mentioned something about gardening and hopefully I get my Full Suspension Mountain Bike back from the repair shop.

Keep safe and shake up time.

Thank you very much @Krystyna23040

That is lovely that Popeye checks that you are ok.

Mr K is off early to get organic milk and Yeo Valley Greek Style Yoghurt from Morrisons then on to Aldi to get the main shop.

I am relaxing with a coffee. I do feel guilty - which is so silly because he was relaxing yesterday evening while I was teaching on Zoom. I did lots of admin also yesterday - so was pleased that it was such a productive day.

Good morning everyone from a several (a lot more than 50) shades of grey morning in the dark and dangerous north.
The wonder wheel of spiced up Jamaican Dub chicken soup and some home made bread came in at 5.2 this am

Wet - yes, the word to describe yesterday. It all looked fine when we set out from home but halfway down the promenade we were attacked by heavy moisture - which proved one thing, our waterproof coats still work.
First jab today - we have to go to York - should we take a picnic?
In other news, Eastenders has asked Mrs Queen if her family is copying one of their intriguing story lines while the casting directors of the new Jim Carrey film “Liar Liar” has asked the Mayor of Scotland if she would like a roll. I don’t watch Eastenders bye the way, I have enough problems being bored with the morning news show on the beeb - all that giggling, butting in and sometimes - sometimes - (can we mention bias?).

Art today, a hungry bird and the prospect of lunch. Big hug to @gennepher for poorly finger but a stout hoorah! for Popeye and first aid box foresight. Hope that everyone has a wonderful Friday - no illegal raves please. Koffy time.
