What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

part two - the saga continues

@gennepher - a hug for the gridlock, we are all looking forward to being able to have a bit more freedom even if we do have a suprising amount of trepidation :sorry:
two lovely paintings since last I was here, the first has so much sun and light in it, are those foxgloves?
and your strongly felt 'Rhapsody in blue', such a striking composition
Painting can be so therapeutic sometimes can't it?

@dunelm - as ever I really admire your brushwork, both of those paintings are wonderful, the first with it's perched buildings has such a wide sense of space and I'm so struck by how much you have managed to get into your waterfall painting, you always have such an awareness of composition :joyful:

@Mrs T 123 - keeping my fingers crossed for good fortune ;)

@jjraak - well done :)

@lindisfel - The vista of the icelandic volcano is impressive isn't it? I was watching it yesterday and it was snowing over the volcano, so striking :)

@Muddy Cyclist - I like the tall silvery tree trunks, some of my favourite trees, beech and silver birch, the colours in the distance are lovely too and I look forward to seeing what direction you take it in :)

art bit - this one took me a couple of sessions, done from a photo I found on the net :)

Thank you,

Another of your so well painted flower pictures, I like the subtle colours you have used.

BYE....
Sausages cooked, eggs boiled, coffee in a flask...
Adventures call....
On an adventure again, I like the startled look you have given the girl it adds mystery to the scene, a sort of 'What are you doing in my world?' A magical piece of art.

Good morning everyone from another noisy and blustery start here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of Thai green curry sans rice (Mrs Miggins had sticky rice) came in at 5.2 this am

Tidy up time in the garden yesterday from the fence repairs - two fence panels to break up, now sitting in the back of Mrs Miggins’ car for her to take to her time slot booked visit to the recycling centre this morning.

@geefull - thank you for your painting compliments, gratefully received and a smashing flower painting from you. I do like the way that you have used the blues in the background to enable the featured flowers to really stand out.
@gennepher - another smashing finger painting from you, amazing how you get such fine strokes and detail into them using only your finger. Great story telling. Enjoy your day out, hope the roads are not too crowded.

Art today - Hight Force - many years ago we had a rope strung across the top, in spring, over the angry water. The object was to crawl over the rope, full kit (less rifle), then hang from the centre and let go into the pool. What fun. “Can I volunteer for the safety crew?” - “No, just get in line.” Hope everyone has a marvelous Monday - I shall be shunning the crowds as usual. Time for koffy.

A good sketch of High Force, a shame you didn't add some figures dangling from ropes, I bet you were tempted. :)

A travell kit for such delicate paper and ink sounds a challenge.

Thank you. There's plenty opportunity on this wee island for snapping. Our tech partner is a testimony to how the island of Formosa has flourished in the shadow of big red across the Straits. They have operations too of course in the PRC, where I have also been, but their locales on the mainland ain't as picturesque...lots of grey...

Here's another - earlyish morning approximately 40 mins out the city.. not a chance you'd get this over the water so close to 3 or 4 million living in a massive conurbation. View attachment 48429
Thanks for sharing all these great pictures of your trip, much enjoyed.

Good Morning and 6 2 again for me today. Fish and salad last night so again not an over carb induced high.

Yesterday we decided to Spring Clean the conservatory, what a job. It's part of our lounge, no doors, and so it gets all year usage. Took most of the day the roof being the hardest part. So no art yesterday.

Tesco run this morning.

Keep safe now you are free.

The girl looks as though her blissful isolation has been shattered by someone marching in and destroying her peace. Cool stuff indeed! @gennepher

Note to self each post: Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth and keep the door of my lips. Who stole the mild weather I was promised? Swipey - on last legs and right arm which both = dodgy - issued a 5.6. Most likely culprit is hay fever from Suffolkness. Talking of which, surely it is Swarrfum @Krystyna23040 - learned Norfick teaching there and a decade of playing cricket with 2 team mates with very broad accents. Great art @gennepher - enjoy your freedom; @dunelm and @geefull - forum lej ma'am. @BRSBRI great photos and we will miss Hamish. If Bath will be teeming with non locals Cambridge is always full of Japanese and Chinese outside of term time, for language schools. Very curious they are too. They literally stand next to you whilst batting on Parker's Piece - suddenly appear from nowhere. The weirdest dismissal known to mankind - bowled while fending off several photographers. Not in the laws of the game anywhere else. Top weight loss tip: overnight drop that kg+ which has been driving you mad - new batteries in scales.:arghh: Hey presto, 74 kgs again - about right for 6ft:)

Will miss that boy too. See him tomorrow running me from meeting to meeting and on Wednesday to catch my silver bird home...

2 whole days and evenings in his company will last a lifetime in memories. Even the jaunts across the city in the Toyota Tank were fun.

He's going to stay at the airport he says until my bird climbs away as it's good luck for a safe journey home. It left me with a lump in my throat that did...

I don't go through the main terminal anyway this time - and we will have a tea or coffee together in the wee lounge before I head off...

Hope all well with you...

And finally ... Alanis you are so right. I seem to have solved the zero dark thirty hrs issue and new batteries may have solved the mysterious weight gain but the USP of low carb eating here is bg control. Way too flaky at that judging by my readings and so many other mystified posters. Freedom had tipped some over the edge. In this close there is an open invite - via whatsapp group:arghh:- for drinks on the lawn - 6 at a time. Oh. have a recipe for a sensible thing to do with a cauliflower

Great recipe - I do enjoy a spiced and roasted cauliflower

From the same place and definitely sans chillies for me :arghh: even more "up my street." Tomato, parmesan (unfortunately no sourdough:bigtears::bigtears:) and green veg :woot::woot:. Would need the toms cut back both for Julie's tastes and carbs but could be something almost warm for me next winter. It's the hope that kills:angelic: I really miss food heavy on the onion, garlic, tomato and basil. I am fine with meat under that type of sauce cooked long, low and slow. It isn't the carbs from the usual suspects that I miss - apart from good bread.

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, another busy day on the treadmill of life here in Tilehurst Towers.

A 6.1 on that meter of mystery early this morning.

Things are getting a little hectic here and a dark cloud in the shape of a beard trim, never mind things could be worse in the pudding basin shape of a hair cut :-( .

Make the most of the rest of today and remember the stay's.

@jjraak there you go, my finger is worn away. ;) A collage over a few days.

For a small island off the coast of mainland China its diversity and history are incredible.

8pm back in my hotel pen. Shopping done, dinner on its way, packing done as time's short tomorrow as it's meetings till 6pm and a farewell drink. Wednesday after breakfast, last drive in the Toyota Tank to the airport with our Hamish aka Wan the man.

BG after a stinky tofu lunch (a delicacy allegedly) was 5.7...Did the best I could haggling at the stalls so MrsBRS should be pleased with the silk stuff I got her. Not expensive, which is a major +++ !!

Ah ha door knocked, it's dinna time...duckfest once more with as much bok choy you can shake a stick at...or two in this instance!!
