Hug for Errant and for you with the worry over your mum.
Have spent a lot of time convincing myself she will be ok.
We have been here before. "Mum is in a bad way in hospital." Both times she recovered. She is a tough old bird.
Don't tell her I said that!
Anyway, my sister decided not to wait the minimum of five hours for an ambulance and drove Mum to hospital herself. Good decision. There were sixteen ambulances queued outside. Mum and my Sister waited fifteen hours before Mum was allowed to lie down in an examination cubicle, where she slept for a few hours, before being admitted to a ward. Tests today show no major problems. HOORAY.. Bad reaction to painkillers apparently the cause of the quite frightening list of symptoms.
Mum is staying overnight in hospital now. We are hoping there will be some treatment for the terribly painful shoulder, which has been injured several times in falls.
Both MrSlim and I are relieved of the need to travel to UK immediately. We are both planning to go when the quarantine restrictions are eased. Both of us have had two jabs in UK. So think 10 days quarantine unnecessary.

Good to hear your sister took action and your mum is comparatively o.k. - pain isn't o.k. We were lucky how quickly paramedic then ambulance attended MIL for her TIA. Does seem to depend on where your are in the country. Our son's in laws live in France and have been in quarantine in Jersey for two weeks.

Am jealous @gennepher Have never seen a rosefinch. The orange moon you mentioned previously is apparently called the Buck moon because its arrival signalled the start of the hunting season in( I think) USA
I saw your post about your mum being a 'tough old bird'!
I am glad things are not as bad as they first seemed, and the urgent need to travel immediately has been eased @SlimLizzy

This is the first rosefinch I have ever seen. I thought robin initially because the glimpse was so fleeting, but then it was wrong shape and colouring for robin, so googled when I got a longer closer look at it at the suet feeder. Also I have never been aware of a goldfinch in my garden, (apart from maybe once possibly fleetingly because of the bright red), but seen them elsewhere.
I have never much believed in feeding birds before, believing that the insects and grubs (I never use any pesticides or bad stuff) and berries in my garden would be enough. But since I have placed those suet feeders in my garden, outside my bedroom window (a few months ago) where I can even see them lying down or as I wake up, I have seen so much bird life, varieties, interactions, unusual behaviours (to me), and much more.

Thanks for the info on the moon, it looked so unusual.

Pleased for you that things are not as urgent as initially thought - must be a relief for you both. All the best for your mum.

Welcome to Monday in Clownshoe Towers. Swipey he say 4.6 take it or leave it - no couth that one. Hog roast good and Princesses Elsa and Anna made an appearance for several little girls dressed as Princesses. No 2 grandson is giving DIL severe warnings but teasing rather as the absent thunderstorms did yesterday. Today will be collect your thoughts day. Time to stop mourning what I've lost in this move and see if I can make this area suit such a delicate bloom as moi. Play nice, share your toys (once well steeped in Milton or autoclaved) Hmm, would BJ, RS and SJ benefit from a spell in the autoclave? Tinkety Tonk Old Fruits.

Good morning everyone from what looks to be quite a pleasant day here in the dark and dangerous north (despite the lies and deception at the beeb weather-watch station).
The wonder wheel of let’s go German with Zigeuner Schnitzel came in at 5.5 this am - must have been the Bavarian music in the background
.

Park - all birds matter feeding fest with the girl in the bubble and a repeat performance this morning I suspect. There is a cafe at the side of the lake. She likes to sit on a chair right up to the railings, swing her legs and arms through and wave and point at ducks and geese. She is trying to learn ‘heron’ but it’s a silent order of birds and they are very reluctant with facial expressions.

Art today - there are six bridges in the park, this is one of them. Can’t remember what day it is today - it’s all one big blur when you are having so much fun. Still, every day is a koffy day. I usually just drink water, very healthy, heated of course, then poured over some ground koffy beans.

Wonderfully detailed artwork and everyone needs some Bavarian music in their Monday. There was an eccentric garage owner who had a combo named Albert Harris and his Bavarian Stompers. Ahead of the Brexit curve that guy.

Finally at last it is cooler.
Some of the fans are allowed a short break.
Fridge and freezer survived the heat onslaught...
I have ordered an ice maker...should have done before, as my freezer is only tiny, a tabletop one, so I cannot store much in it, but it sufficient for my needs normally.

It was actually cooler in my potting shed and garage yesterday than it was in my bungalow. No fans were needed in my potting shed yesterday, so Popeye and I retired to the potting shed for the day on Sunday...

Picture or photo to come later today...will catch up later, busy busy...

EDIT at 10:43am
About a quarter of the neighbours have returned, but left again (they don't go to work), but AH neighbour has descended with teams and vans of workmen, and machinery. So, a cacophony of workmen. and I have gone back indoors. Then I found the temperature in my bungalow was exactly the same outdoors as indoors...23.1C. And there is no wind, so all indoor fans back on again....and windows and doors shut again...

The air was too still to sketch outside so took photos and I might try later...indoors...

5.2 this morning. Dogs will be walked as soon as I have finished my coffee.

Food for the day all done and packed up. So just the dog walk, another coffee and then off to work. In two weeks I will be having a 3¹½ week break. I don't know why, but the closer I get to a break from work the more tired I feel.

Thank you @ianpspurs and yes, it must be Monday, hence the drinking songs and BMW badges.

Morening, sorry no time to catch up on posts..

A 5.5 this morning.

I have been given permission to enjoy myself today on my motorcycle, so I must get out and gone before Mrs J wakes up and changes her mind.

Be good and remember the solitary stay apart.

Good that tests showed no major problems and hopefully the doctors will be able to sort out some treatment for her very painful shoulder.

Also really good that you don't now need to rush to the UK.

It has got hotter and hotter today. The temperature inside my bungalow because of my fans etc, was now lower than the temperature outside. But this meant I couldn't open any doors or windows wide open today or I would lose that coolness. It went up to 26C for a brief spell outside.

It is now 24C in my bedroom and inside, and I am having to up the fans again.

I am still waiting for this ice cube maker I ordered last night...it is supposed to come before 10pm. No ice cubes in the shops this morning...

I said earlier, or yesterday that there are literally flocks/swarms of all different varieties of small birds coming to visit my garden every day. It is almost like they are are actually living in my garden. It is the same group of birds. I more or less assumed that birds flew around in groups of their own variety. Although I have seen sparrows fly in with the bluetits, or whichever group they were flying with. There must be 8 or more varieties of birds in this group that fly in and out of my garden, but appear to have taken residence in my garden for the moment. There seems to be some sort of reciprocal arrangement between them.

Then there are the two new bird's nests. One is in my ash tree (top left), the other is in my elder tree (top right). These have happened since AH neighbour stupidly cut down a tract of my hedge on my side of the dividing wall, causing Mrs Blackbird to lose her babies and other nests destroyed. But nature has sprung back. There has been a lot of activity, and I believe there are another two nests. I have not seen Mr Blackbird since this disaster, but I have seen Mrs Blackbird, building more nests always accompanied by these two dunnocks, and Mrs B appeared to be feeding new babies. BUT this is the amazing bit. Mrs Blackbird has had a pair of dunnocks helping her and with her almost 24/7, or at least every time I see Mrs Blackbird. The three of them feed together on the suet in harmony. I am assuming something must have happened to Mr Blackbird when AH neighbour chainsawed my hedge down unbeknownst to me. But Mrs Blackbird was expecting, and had no Mr B to help.

The goldfinches are getting used to me, and one will sing from a branch next to me now. Initially they rustled and flew away if I even moved a finger.

The nest in the ash tree is made with dried willow leaves on the outside. This one is being used by a very small brown bird, but it darted so quickly I could see nothing definite. However, the flock of birds is protecting it. I don't know who is using the other nest.

Can you see the uplighter lamp in the middle?
This is the one that burst into flames early this year, or late last year. I made it into a bird feeding station and attached it to the rose trees. In the top I put in some grass turf, expecting it to grow, which it did when it was raining, but it has now dried out, and every morning this little flock of birds queue up to have a dust bath.

You can see Popeye looking for shade! Bottom 3 photos...

My ice maker has just arrived and I need to wait an hour for the coolant to settle...

EDIT: This afternoon I thought Popeye was escaping out of the garden. So, I quickly grabbed what was sticking out of the hedge which was a black tail. But the indignant face that turned to look at me was a most beautiful sweet little black face..."What did you do that for?" this cat said...
I apologised and she ran away. She looks like my cat Jade who died about 10 years ago.
But obviously I haven't upset her because she has just sneaked into my bedroom, just like Merryweather does, And eaten a bowl of wet cat food and some dried cat biscuits...

This cat population is increasing...

Mum has seen an orthopaedic specialist today. He said that as her problem is not life threatening cannot get her an immediate MRI scan, but has referred her to outpatients. She will have to wait for an appointment. He thinks that the bones have been rubbing together and torn the tendon.
MRI scan will show exactly what has happened.
Mum - and Dad, are now at my sister's house. But this cannot be a long term arrangement.
We are still taking one day at a time.

Good morning everyone from a wonderfully cool start to what may be another hot day here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of some boned and batted out chicken thighs with spices and a couple of eggs came in at 5.5 this am

Fabulous goings on le jardin Popeye and @gennepher and hope that @SlimLizzy ’s mum can get that MRI scan asap. We do fret about our own parents, such that my sister has sold her house and moved into the city of Saintes and is now a mere 10 minute walk away from them - dad, who is in his 90’s still thinks that he is quite independent thank you very much.
Another girl in the bubble day today - her last day with the cast on her leg, her parents will be removing it when we deliver her back later this afternoon. Off to our little house on the prairie after that - youngest son and wife coming on Thursday with the ninky nonks and Little Miss Pamplemouse - and I think, their dog, Whiskey.

Art bit, there was a wood carving of a green man in the forest that we visited last week, so an Oak. I’m having a go at Monday again - such a maligned day but yesterday was very good so looking forward to a repeat. Stay well, drink koffy.

No wonder your Mum has been in a lot of pain. I do hope that she doesn't have to wait too long for a a scan.
