I definitely think that you have made the right decision @SlimLizzy. It is too risky to 'bend the rules ' as France could very easily decide not to let you back into France.

As we now have Carte de Sejour which is valid for five years this is not our major concern. At worst we would have to quarantine on return. Am more upset by family not understanding and criticising our decision.
They seem to think that as long as it is not absolutely forbidden we should all be there.
There is also the issue of evading/ breaking the new Welsh covid restrictions, to enjoy Christmas Eve and day with MrSlims relatives, in their fragile state of health probably not a good idea, but still massive disappointment for us all.They are probably some of my favourite people At least they are philosophical about it. Hoping to see us in february for MrSlims birthday.

My family. Well it seems we are the only cowards among them. Or are they just regretting that now someone else will have to provide the wine?
Am not making any more excuses,, but feeling very left out and misunderstood, esp when seeing all the family posts planning the get together. Can hardly disassociate myself from the family group, but a little empathy for our decision would help a lot.
One son has contacted us saying how upset he is that we won't be coming, everyone else has nothing to say ...implication is we made the wrong decision. Except my lovely Mum. Probably Dad too, but he is reluctant to talk on the phone now, increasingly deaf and struggling with and aware of his dementia., communication is difficult for him.

Managed to finish all those to post all those to UK.
Doing some now that get popped into local letterboxes.
Then the ones I will finish in the next few days, are all destined for abroad...

Good (red skied here) morning one and all on a day where the daylight very slowly "draws out." My fbg was 5.4. Swipey measured so usual pinch of Himalyan pink required. Whilst that is too high, I have been gifted the nursery and school cold cum "buggie" but according to Lat Flow (lovely Eastern European gel) not their COVID. Despite an official code no LFs to be had in our part of West Suffolk. World leading springs to mind Jim Royle style. Three grandchildren for the next two days which is obviously a blessing but comes with a duty of care therefore tiring by bedtime. Zhooshed up (pimped?) my normal mackerel and avo salad yesterday with toasted pine nuts as well as the usual spinach powder. They're tasty, tasty, very, very tasty - not sure why I dropped them to the reserves. DPD collected a box of presents for the P gels in S'oton and Muscle Food are delivering all their Christmas food. Allegedly grass fed, organic etc. C21st 1 AH in No 10 - 0. Moving, shiny things made it from the loft to what passes as a lounge about here which pleased JKP and hopefully youngest granddaughter who will know what is going on this year.* @gennepher another wonderful card. Squirrels? 91.99 yo MIL now lives in a bungalow called squirrels but we don't see them on our "land" here - another thing I miss. @SlimLizzy I think "follow the guidance given by our adopted country" is absolutely key but hugs for the stress relatives are imposing. Stay safe? He knew, Whitty knew.

I feel for you. We also have family who we have decided that we cannot chance seeing at present. Some are more understanding than others. Take care, drink their wind.

Breakfast out in a quiet, masked up, but look at the views over the sea type of place. Less than a mile from the house but still a bridge too far for limping Larry. Doctor phoned me at 7pm last night to ask how I was. Who says they are skiving at home? She has send another prescription to the Pharmacy, Amitriptyline on the menu it is then. Children are going out with Gran this morning while their parents take off Whitby bound for a day out on their own. I have shown them where some remote waterfalls are and that pub in Beck Hole twixt Goathland and Grosmont that doubles up as a sweet shop and has only enough room for 10.

Another count down to Christmas art bit. Days should be getting longer, take care, more koffy needed.

Winner and thanks for the Christmas art and recognition of the ludicrous lie about lazy GPs. Hug for the pain and need of Amitriptyline - JKP's views on how useful they proved are not suitable for a family programme so I hope you find they work better. Add on the spinach powder and toasted pine nuts to become a salad proficionado Take care fella.

Yesterday was really tired after the shopping so didn't do my usual amount of exercise - just sat around and relaxed and caught up on reading. Also had the munchies and ate far too much extra food (cashews, Greek yogurt, Montezuma's 100%, cheese and cream).

Fbg 4.6. That really is a puzzle - it is not logical that it should be so low.

Second granddaughter has tested positive this morning. Luckily with almost non-existent symptoms.

Good morning@dunelm. Thanks for the robin. We have a robin themed area of the new bungalow as part of the Christmas decorations this year. I don't know if you already take Amitriptyline but I was prescribed them for my slipped disc. When I took them at bedtime I was zombi-like until lunchtime the next day so now I take them at around 8pm and find it much better. I had a message from my GP too yesterday arranging a follow up phone call in January. I suspect my recent HbA1c result is high. It must be lovely to live near to the sea even when it is bracing cold. Best wishes and enjoy your coffee.
