What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning everyone
BG 6.0 this morning
Pleased with this BG it’s going down and that’s my aim along with weight loss for the sake of my joints.
I visited my sister yesterday evening visiting in the Cardiology Unit she’s lucky to have survived her heart attack they wanted to perform a triple heart bypass but has she has previously had vein grafts a few years ago and still had the blockages in the thigh area from smoking and bad diet which she wouldn’t give up despite warnings from her surgeon they felt she would not survive the surgery. On top of all this she has been type1 diabetic since she was 10 years old that’s 52 years and lived her life has if she never had diabetes, I love my sister but nobody could get her to listen it’s taken a heart attack to stop her from smoking. But I’m not convinced has she hasn’t had the means to smoke in hospital has she’s been confined to bed I worry when she gets home today will she carry on has she has in the past, if she does she won’t survive another heart attack. Her cardiologist decided not to go ahead with the bypass has they felt she wouldn’t survive it due to her lifestyle choices and performed a double stent procedure. In three weeks time she has to have two more stents in the other chambers of the heart, I feel like shaking her and screaming at her to Wake Up listen to people who know what will happen to you if you carry on ignoring everything they tell you, I’m at my wits end worrying about her. In her eyes I’m the boring one worrying about my weight and getting my BG under control, what you bothering about at your age she said to me and the nurse attending her has if it was a vanity thing not a health issue I was doing this for.
I’m telling all this to let new and all diabetics to be more aware of your diabetes it’s not the damage you can see with Diabetes it’s what you can’t see it’s not to be treated lightly either type1 or type2 it’s a very damaging condition please take better care of yourselves that includes myself. K
I have given you a winner emojie @Granny_grump_ but I wanted to give you a hug emojie too for your frustration with your sister.
Sometimes no matter what you say, the other person shuts their mind to it, when they could help themselves far more than they realise.

I have a friend who thinks like this...

Oh what a frustrating situation to be in but thank you for taking the care to post. A winner and a hug. Life is precious and you are doing all you can do to be healthy. Time with my wife, children, grandchildren and friends is my own motivation. Take care and all the best for your sister.

It’s awful to watch her destroying herself with no concept of the worry everyone around her is going through, but if this doesn’t make her wake up then nothing will, even the nurse said it takes something like this before people finally listen. I most sincerely hope so for her sake. K

Need my Breakfast now but thanks for your messages of kindness it’s this big hug I needed today. K
You make me smile just being able to share with someone the problems life throws at you. K

5.5 this morning. Not looking forward to a chilly dog walk but I know I will enjoy it once I am out in the park.

Fbg 6.3

Creative this morning was amazing. I enjoyed doing it. And then doing some writing. Then I accidentally touched a button, and everything went off the screen. I was so upset. Then I opened my eyes. And I am holding my iPad.

Then I realised I had dreamt the creative artwork and writing. But it was so real.

I didn't have the heart to do another creative painting.

I looked out of my bedroom window at 6.31 am and it was beautiful outside. Surely not that light yet? So I took a photo, put it in Snapseed, then iPastel to bring out Popeye who was already there a bit.

A friend sent some WhatsApp messages and beautiful videos of a stray cat that came up to her bungalow in the middle of the countryside. It looks like a Norwegian Forest cat she said. It had picked up some ticks on its long fur, and she had removed them. About 10 minutes of videos she sent.

What should I do? She asked. I can't keep it with my dog.

I know what she is doing. I have fallen totally in love with that long haired black and white cat with an upside down heart as its nose.

Take it to the vet I replied, check for microchip. If no microchip then get on to Facebook with a photo. But check if they have a matching photo first.

Then I said, I am going to see to my stray cat gang outside, and my chief mouse catcher.

You lot have no idea how much I totally adore, fallen in love with, and want that cat...but I have not said to her.
She lives near Southampton. I live in North Wales...

Hello from a cold but sparkling late winter, pre-spring Forest Heath (a far more apt description and sense of identity than West Suffolk). Both major US bases involved in the mess people have created in and around Ukraine so many here are feeling extra stress and worry. Obviously not as much as Ukranians but the ripple effects spread far and wide. Talking of which I'm sorry for the stress your love for your sister causes you @Granny_grump_ but glad the supportive posts are helpful. @gennepher a very vivid dream and I can imagine your mind working overtime on how to bring that stray cat from S'oton to Wales. Thanks for the creative. @dunelm thanks for the art. Never mind that guy from the last century, put Mrs Miggins in touch with the woke generation. @Krystyna23040 I hope the walk went well. I always find that those/these conditions are some of the best along with the very early summer mornings before the phew what a scortcher days. Two grandchildren - brother and sister - here today (I'm skiving off to the gym for a while) then, later, Salmon (with crispy skin, obs) salad. I may even stretch to halloumi fries - halloumi from the other side, of Eunice, as Adele didn’t croon.. @karen8967 your Friday meme is on point even for a grouch like me who struggles to see the point of flowers. Take care. Tartare for now.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and a hug for @gennepher, but also a winner for bringing a smile to my bearded face.
A 5.3 on that meter of deception this morning.
Later today all kinds of chaos and mayhem will descend on Tilehurst Towers, we are having the 2 eldest grandchildren for a sleep over, we have to return them to their parents after evening dinner on Saturday. Sunday could be designated a day of recovery.
Mrs J has an agenda, me and me’s have an agenda and I’m sure the grandchildren have several agenda’s.
Stay safe all

Good morning everyone under what looks to be a clear blue sky here in the dark and dangerous north
Had to wait in yesterday for one of those deliveries when those involved in said delivery have no concept of time nor that mechanical and other fancy timepieces have now replaced sun dials, candle clocks and hour glasses. Still, the goods were eventually delivered. There has been some chatter in the ether which sounds like conversations with Alan Titchmarsh and including words like spade, dig, border, level, and even decking. I’m taking cover. Mrs Miggins is going over to our little house on the prairie this morning to make sure it is still there and the elusive carpet for our bedroom is rumoured to be turning up this morning.
Art bit - One long brush stroke with two brushes tied together on a large sheet of raw rice paper and then a little focal point. I do hope that your day is kind to you and that you pass such kindness on to others. To kick start such feelings I must now consume koffy.

Hi gennepher
I totally understand we’re your coming from I’ve adored animals all my life especially dogs but I’ve also had cats they crawl inside your heart and no matter what you do I firmly believe you will adopt your black and white mouse catcher. We can’t help ourselves I would fill our bungalow with stray homeless dogs more so now after 42 years of not being without a dog our lovely black pug Louie is no longer with us. I have to stop myself when I watch these TV programmes on stray dogs needing a home I just want to open our door and say come in we will take good care of you. But we decided to have some time my hubby and I enjoying travelling on holidays without worrying about leaving them behind. And if your mouse catcher keeps calling it’s because he wants to even if you don’t take him in, because we never know with cats if they are truly a stray or just a roamed with a few other callers he goes to feeding him. But just enjoy him for what it is your not doing any harm to anyone. Best Wishes . K

Yes, I do agree @ianpspurs. It was a lovely early morning walk in the chilly sunshine and so lovely to get back to a coffee in our cosy conservatory.

Ah, I can see cat adoptions taking place very soon. Beautiful sky through your window.
