What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from a dull and blustery location which the Good Lord clearly feels is best for me just now. I obviously just need to get with the program. Can't go over it etc. @JohnEGreen hug for both the pain and news yesterday. Thoughts and prayers with you and all who find hospital parking expensive, difficult and asking too much of their bodies. @gennepher thanks for the sheep creative and hopefully you'll enjoy cuppas from the flask? whilst keeping watch for that/those parcel(s). @dunelm thanks for sharing the start of another in this series of splendidly thought out and delivered structures. You spoil us sir. Our brood refer to those institutions as pre-school. Parents see them as a substantial investment and pathway into aspirational schools. @alf_Josiah quite the full agenda for today. No grandchildren and I was just getting into my stride again with nappy changing but I had forgotten just how much an 18 month old's system transits. Another excellent sleep score from fitbit after a carby - 19 gms - meal last evening. Could be a totally spurious link. A magical mystery tour in and out of Cambs and Suffolk yesterday due to this. Needed to use the Kia for best updated navigation so all the fun of the funfair. To my biased eyes that route has even worse roads especially those maintained by Suffolk. How hard can it be for Sainsbury's in Ely to stock pyjamas for a 3 year old girl amongst the 4 gazillion sqr feet of princess dresses and other dross? Why no Metanium either? Anyhow, super salmon salad day today so, yes @gennepher, my best kinda day allowing for absent grandchildren and the clown show running this country. How about you good folks?
Yes, parcels from Royal Mail - Amazon decided they couldn't do the before 1pm delivery and handed them over the Royal Mail who collected them from the Yorkshire hub...

Sun came out. I am on warm side of window, and got my flask of tea...

You have your best kind of day Ian!

Hi all legs still somewhat painful but no where near as bad as yesterday it was not so much car to hospital as long winding corridors and having to go between floors that triggered the episode.

As for the PF there are two medications they were considering pirfenidone and nintedanib but as I am on Edoxaban nintedanib is not suitable so they hope to start me on pirfenidone next week depending on my blood tests seems you have to plaster yourself in factor 50 sun blocker while taking them so no sun tan next summer.

Fbg this morning 6.8 not so bad.
Pre-Covid, I could ask for a porter (whatever the hospital, whether in England or Wales) to take me to the department in a wheelchair, because I couldn't do the walking needed, and between floor stuff. I am on my own. And the porter would say to reception wherever I got taken to, give me a ring when she needs collecting. And the porter would apologise in advance in case I had a bit of a wait when he returned. Now there is nothing like this, and I am totally on my own. One hospital I regularly attend, I either use my mobility scooter, but if it is pouring with rain as it often is, I cannot use it, so I have to allow an hour or an hour and a half for the in hospital walking needed to get to the department (this allows me to rest). And itis the same to get out of the hospital...

I know exactly how you felt yesterday x

And take care today, your legs are still tired, and so your balance may not be good...take care.

On the plus side their aspirational tuna is on point. Seems millenial's/gen z's idea of a big night in may be tinned fish so I thought I'd do some cultural appropriation. My instinct (ok, confirmation bias) is that was more responsible for the sleep score. Further experimentation is needed despite the sharp intake of breath from JKP. My starter for 10 is medical science research is expensive my dear. Bonus questions, if needed, will be on beauty products when she is clearly plenty gorgeous enough. If even that fails I may need to escalate matters - tie breaker - and reluctantly :angelic: enquire how much 4000 football pitches of shoes might cost. No risk no reward. :)
Ortiz tinned fish - well posh.

I believe the modern idiom is aspirational. Whatever the term used, the product tears bacon or sausages a new one as they say in certain quarters. Very left bank I believe. Must keep the flame alive or the Lannisters win.

Yes covid has changed many things and not for the good used to be there where the odd chairs you could rest on but during covid they have been removed just huge long corridors with no respite I do have a mobility scooter but have difficulty getting it in and out of the car and this was the first time since covid that I had ventured out to an appointment so thought I would be OK Keiran has put me under strict instructions never to do such a thing again he will in future drive me. Melody suggested that I get a wheel chair so not to have to depend on the hospital.

Keiran thinks I should get an all terrain scooter to replace the old one that would cost a bomb and not really solve the problem.

Though must say local hospital Kingsmill is pretty good they have the electric chariots manned by heroic volunteers.

Hug for that John and you @gennepher. Just to amplify the madness of access and accessibility to medical treatment now, the attached is from the Mychart App CUH use BUT this is for a telephone consultation on March 16th. In some way shape or form there must be a cost involved with this which by the law of small numbers/marginal gains could make a difference. There must be hundreds of similar examples but that doesn't mean 13 years of austerity, Brexit and ideological hatred aren't the elephants in the room.

The latest "good idea" to take pressure of the ambulance service

What you've broken your leg in three different places well don't bother us, just hop over to your GP's surgery.

After food blood sugars have really improved today. Have been able to drop step count to between 13K and 14K over the last couple of days and it hasn't halted the improvement in after meal blood sugars. 17K steps day was just too many steps for me.

Am still doing a maximum of 15g carbs plus fasting for 17 hours a day. I think the combination of intermittent fasting plus ultra low carb and exercise are improving things. I am feeling more hopeful that I will get back to where I was before I ditched the low carb.

Fbg 6.5

I woke up in the early hours.
I fancied a cuppa tea.
So I made one, came back to bed and decided to finish a snail mail letter.
But as most of you know, I have a full length glass door besides my bed which opens straight out into my back garden.
I was aware of movement outside which looked like a badger (the black and white face colouring).
Then I realised a badger had its nose pressed against the glass watching me writing.
Then another badger pushed it out of the way and looked at me.
I returned to my letter writing...
Another movement outside. This time a fox...
And so this went on as I am finishing my letter.
This completely disconcerted me.
I feel like I am the prisoner in a glass cage being viewed by all and sundry.
And where was my cat Midnight?
He was not with me on my bed.
He was at the entrance gate selling tickets for viewings of his human...

Wildlife video...
A garden full of foxes and badgers...

Creative is more sheep.
A digital painting in Procreate...

Have you best day...however you can, especially when your cat has invited the entire wildlife world to come and view you...

Time for a cuppa...

Roll up! Roll up! - a human using a tool to write with. Another smashing sheep - you will soon have a flock.

Good morning everyone from a lovely bright and sunny start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. More bulbs springing up in the garden, wonder what they may be? Lunch out yesterday. Just in town. A pub with views over the sea. Couldn’t finish my lunch so brought some chicken home and had a chicken salad for dinner. Planning a trip for May - north of the wall. Not sure exactly where but Skara Brae has been penciled in. Art bit, adding some details. Have a Smashing Saturday, we will probably have a walk into town, but first I need to finish my offs.

That is so funny @gennepher. That must be what animals in a zoo experience. By the way I do love your sheep paintings.

BG at 2.30 am was 7.5 but that was after only a couple of hours sleep. Checked after pills, a cup of tea and a doze (until 7 am) and it was 10.9.

Yesterday I decided that I had to do something about the huge pile of clean washing sitting in baskets on top of the washing machines for weeks, waiting for me to put them away. I took the whole lot and dumped them on my bed so that I would have to do the job before I could get into bed. I meant, of course, to do it during the day but that didn't happen. 10.30 last night, I decided I'd better do it so I found some space to perch on the edge of my bed and started folding. I actually left the 2 sheets and the quilt cover and put them in another basket to be dealt with today - back and legs were not quite up to standing and folding such large items. It took me over an hour to get it all folded and put away. I'm surprised I hadn't run out of clothes to wear, there was so much there. Eventually, the bed was clear and I could get myself organised to get to bed. By that time, I was no longer sleepy but quite satisfied.

Just the bedding to fold and pillowcases to iron. Not sure if I'll get that done today. Of course, there's more washing already out of the machines and ready for folding and putting away. Must do that before it all mounts up again. I was talking to my cleaner about the pile of washing on the bed and she told me she has a big basket of washing on her bed which goes from the bed, to the floor and back onto the bed for weeks before she can get it done, but she works as a cleaner and as a home care worker, plus she has 2 children to look after so she has little time - I don't have the same excuse.

Fbg this morning was 7.0

Well I think that they have decided to put me on that medication as I received a hand full of blood test forms in the post this morning.

Feeling somewhat better today so am going to try and get out for a short walk today or tomorrow.

Loving the art work on here of late .

I got myself an iPad so I could download Procreate but now don't have a clue as to what to do with it typical of me.

really like the idea of all the stored glucose being flushed into my blood stream so I can use it up as I exercise.
my line of thinking too.

Feels good to put a positive spin on what at first sight could seem like a regression.

I don't usually do a walk after dinner, unless we have Frankie over, but I did use a resistance band between my forearms to do exactly that, use up the incoming glucose.

Must dig it out & begin using again .

Hello all from Little America - how you doin? - where the weather is uninspiring but as we keep being reminded very mild for the time of year. A balmy 16 °C in these parts yesterday. @Krystyna23040 winner for the attitude and efforts to correct matters but do leave space for pleasure from food and rest. I'm sure Mr K will be offering words of wisdom but the female of the species can be feisty I'm told. @dunelm thanks for the rapidly becoming more substantial edifice. Enjoy the walk if taken. @gennepher I like the idea of Midnight monetising you and thanks for another in the series of sheep. @Annb I wasn't sure if your endeavours deserved a hug or winner but went with hug for the delay in getting to bed. Oddly, it is washing day here today because 4 days of childcare and fitting in hospital visiting play havoc with The Schedule. MIL is still on oxygen and recovering somewhat even though she has some interesting tales to recount. She hasn't quite made the connection between basically refusing to eat or drink and being allowed back here and onwards to Wales in May/June. No eatey no leavey seems to be a step too far for a very stubborn woman. Good contest between her and a daughter who can't see the family likeness. Best to just smile and wave methinks. S and W will see you through today as well if things don't pan out as planned. BFN.
