What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I can only tolerate half an average size dessert apple at any one time, they are surprisingly full of carbs for something so healthy and tend to spike my BG levels. But I’ve discovered that half an apple with some cheese makes a good dessert/snack, and barely registers on the scale, so its a nice treat now.
Yes, healthwise apples get a favourable press.

We have an apple tree (now on its last roots, sadly) and I found there was a substantial difference between eating a home-grown apple and an apple bought from a supermarket. Traditional English varieties like a crisp Cox's orange pippin have a kick to them, but modern cultivars such as gala and golden delicious have been selected for super sweetness and spike me in minutes.

I can no longer handle an apple as a snack. My solution is to incorporate apple peel into salads, when apple flavour and colour is required.

I'm very pleased with that.
I'm posting similar comments on 2 threads. Need to sort out which thread is most suited and relevant for me.
