Feeling very happy today having just received my HbA1c test result. Five months on from a reading of 44 mmol it is now down to 38 mmol. A big thank you to everyone who offered dietary advice and encouragement. A LCHF has definitely paid dividends. I will continue as I am as I’m happy with the diet I’m now on, but I may now allow myself the occasional treat :)

*** Haemoglobin A1c level - IFCC standardised (XaPbt) 38 mmol/mol [20 - 48] ***

That's amazing, very well done!! I've just been diagnosed with prediabetes my reading was 42, determined to reverse it, but not sure where to start. Did you do this diet? I've been referred to NHS program but not sure it's going to be any good, listening to others. I need guidance on what I can and cannot eat?

Hi, I’ve followed advice from this forum rather than the NHS course. I’ve cut out bread, grains, pasta, rice etc. Wholemeal or otherwise. Potatoes as well. Anything high carb really. I buy some low carb substitutes from the Seriously Low Carb store so I can still make a sandwich.

I’ve lost over a stone but don’t want to loose anymore so I’ve increased my fat intake with cheese, dairy etc.

I also stopped snacking, especially in the evenings and increased my fasting window by shifting breakfast to 10am or later and my evening meal to before 7pm (it’s occasionally a little later).

I’m going to stick with what I’ve been doing as I feel good on it and I’m very happy with the results.

I hope that helps. Good luck with it.
