What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all. Not really fbg but 5.5 by 9.10 ish, via Libre, so not great but not a disaster daahling. Interesting discussion about what to drink if not squash.. Water from the tap really varies in taste and, ahem, transit effect. Although Anglian water supply us here , Suffolk, as they did in Cambs I can't drink it - oddly the nearest Cambs village is only 5 miles away. The mains water filtered via our fridge is fine. Lemon, lime etc in water is good for me as is lemon in a weaker tea such as Darjeeling.

I don't actually like plain water much either @Ashybang, but I do drink gallons of mint tea particularly in the evening when the slightest sniff of caffeine wires me up again. I'm on a bore hole, so need to filter water as routine. Tastes fine, despite the probable bug content which I guess does wonders for my immune system. Although if I'm having it neat I prefer bottled versions like Buxton or Highland Spring.

I am very lucky that I am in Scotland and we have such good water here! Even my 8 year old granddaughter from Bristol commented on a recent visit how much she liked it.

6.3 this morning
ive just had a long cry….got a call from the gastroenterologist and I’m heading for an endoscopic ultrasound next week. I still haven’t gotten results from the MRI but obviously they found something. I’m absolutely terrified. Calling my doctor this afternoon and if she’s not there I’m texting her. She has those results…..why didn’t she let me know. I’m gutted.
don’t know if I should cancel our Mexican holiday….we are supposed to leave two days after this procedure.

Perhaps the MRI results were inconclusive.

Try not to worry. (Easy for me to say, I know). You will not necessarily require a general anasthetic for this examination. You'll be given a sedative to help you relax. That takes time to wear off, so they'll keep you under observation for 1-2 hours. You will need to arrange a lift home afterwards.

Thanks. I’ve had one before so I do understand what to expect….i just was caught off guard, the phone call was a complete surprise! Did call my doctor but have heard nothing back. The MRI report is out there, I just can’t get a copy of it yet. I wore off the stress by completely cleaning the house and setting up my new sewing machine….i am ok.

Morning All. So 6.3 today after roast cod loin with a smidge of Teriyaki sauce. To all our new members a big welcome to this friendly corner where we all have individual targets but support or commiserate with each other. @Ashybang if you like sparkling water maybe put a basic Sodastream on your Christmas list. Somehow you don’t need so much flavour added if thats your thing. @Bcgirl thinking of you and crossing everything for good MRI maybe call in to the GP’s office to push for info. Have a great Saturday everyone.

Morning all. 7.4 this morning. Have been sleeping badly for a few nights so am wondering if that's why my levels have been high. After reading about the orange squash etc, I'm going to test for it. I drink squash with water and tonic water in it (for the cramp) so wondering about that too. @Bcgirl, chin up we are all rooting for you. Have a good weekend folks :)

And the pendulum swings back into the sticky zone - FBG 6.2 this morning. Poor nights sleep, the feline on the other hand slept fine - on my head. It was a cold night so the fur hat was not entirely unwelcome.

Covid jab later - changed my mind and decided to have one, think it’s better than coming down with it over Xmas. That would just be my luck.

Hi Everyone

I'm new on the forum. I've posted an intro - (new and chocoholic) but I want to start posting here to try and be accountable to - well hopefully myself.
This mornings fasting number is 11.0mmol/L. Thats the lowest its been in 10 days.
I know its not good. I'm grieving. But I'm here.

Also best wishes to Bcgirl.

Hello @Peanut234 and welcome to this FBG thead. We're pleased you could join us.

Sixes for Saturday 6.4 at 7:30. It could have been a lot worse and it’s my own fault. My neighbour came round yesterday and I had 2 frangipani mince pies (I’ve said in an earlier post, mince pies are my downfall!) Anyway I had really bad indigestion at 1am and spent 2 hours sitting in a chair sipping hot water. Serves me right

Hope you’re all having a good Saturday everyone xx

Depends on the herb - just sayin :D

Some of the fruit ones have dried pieces of apple or other fruit in them for sweetness (if they’re natural) or artificial sweeter or sugar if not. Label reading should be the diabetic mantra. I just wish it were easier on the eyes, the print is so small on most food labels.
