@lindisfel, I thought you might like to see these photos of waxwings that have arrived in the Peak District. Most birders use the very best optical Swarovski ELs and they are way out side the price range of ordinary nature lovers. They are used by some of these TV guys who 'may' get them free to use. My EL 10x42. were £1800 ten years ago.
However, they are optically near perfection but the rubber armour is rubbish, less than perfect!
Marjorie's Nikon's, high definition bins bought 25 years ago, are still near perfect. Some German military Zeiss from the last War are still good and British Bar & Stroud the armour is good. Unless they protected the wearer then they are probably proudly on display in a case at his grandson's.
Its alleged Swarovski to meet its recycling targets incorporate a quantity of rubber of unknown origin.
That is why I and many other owners have a perfect optically set of binocular with cracked and falling off rubber armour.
What a great advert!

The Blockbuster video card is being made good use of @dunelmGood morning everyone on what was an early start for me here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.7 at 0500 this morning when I eventually dragged myself out of bed. The earlier 0230 awakening was swiftly rejected. I could speculate on that minor inconvenience but would probably be wrong so not worth thinking about. Surprise afternoon tea for one of Mrs Miggins’ aunts went well. We took one of her older aunts with us and it was good to see all the elders of her blood line all together and able to catch up with each other and also chat with younger generations. A splendid buffet but as with these things, not many pickings on the lower carb tiers. Peeling portions of pork pie always seems to cause comment although a five year old did decide that it was a wonderful idea and copied. Someone pointed out that there are some sandwiches made with brown bread! Smile. Salad items were nice. Hide under the table when the birthday cake is paraded - not really - sing and clap and only the tiniest piece please, it’s a time for sharing and being together - the word ‘tiny’ is one of those words with many interpretations. Art bit, using wet paper and the blockbuster video card. Hope your Sunday is stress free. I need to make another Koffy.

Thanks IanMorning all on a wonderful start to Sunday here - fbg unknown.. Came downstairs at 7.30 to the smell of lamb shoulder.for family Sunday lunch slowly roasting at 140c - absolutely divine so thanks be to God. The nearest butcher had sold all 4 whole shoulders of lamb Friday afternoon - he did have leg of lamb but I'm done with pretending that cut can be made to suit me. Decided to buy one from a local farm shop named after this - where timber for building the farmhouse was salvaged - the bonus is it is in Cambs. Outside it is a dry, bright, pleasantly clear and light start to the day. Not the vast Fen horizon but we have a plan/live in hope. @gennepher thank you for sharing the bright and cheerful creative. @dunelm thank you for sharing the art and wildlife photos. #2 son, partner and 2 children want a repeat of lunch then playing cards so lunch, cards, football and NFL are on the agenda. I hope you all enjoy Sunday your own way but if not have another go next week.
Makes the whole room seem warmer, just having it up on the screen. Terrific image.Fbg 6.2
