20K plus steps is really impressive but actually there are huge benefits for doing a lot less steps. Actually, if I am remembering correctly, the benefits start at just 4K steps. Thanks for the good wishes for today. 11k steps when 18 months / 2 years ago I could easily do 20k plus time on exercise bike and/or in the gym tells a tale - sadly. The days of 30k steps are over for me but thanks be to God that I had those days and all the sport. Sadly, I took that too much for granted - run before school, training and coaching (joining in) after, football, rugby cricket Friday, Saturday, Sunday - before children and the need for promotion. Hopefully those and my version of LC/Ketonomics are giving me some marginal gains now. Perhaps recalibrate and try a couple of 15k days a week if things go well. Longer days allow earlier starts and later finishes. My issues are stenosis related so the gym with seated machines (I had them) and my exercise bike (set up with playlists and various levels of rides and data displayed on screen in the garage I had converted) are actually probably better than steps but aren't outdoors. I gave away the weight machine which we moved and assembled here as it was taking up bedroom 4 and #3 son plus family wanted to visit. I would use that now or at least try very hard. A gym at home, which I had before we moved (used before JKP woke up and while watching sport - also have a rowing machine), is so much easier than traveling even though the nearest one is less than half a mile away and ultra modern and cheap as these things go. Hope you relax today - your relaxing always seems to be what they call active relaxation.
I think we all took our good health and capacity to be really active for granted when we were younger. It is sad that we can no longer do what we did then but we are lucky that we are still here and still enjoying life.
