What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from L.A. where spring most definitely ain't sprung. Bitterly cold wind and heavy rain at times yesterday but marginally better today in that the showers will only be light and the breeze fresh.:arghh: @JohnEGreen I hope you are more comfortable and cared for today and there really is a plan for your treatment that actually works. Thoughts and prayers with you. @dunelm thanks for sharing the art and enjoy the reunion. @Krystyna23040 how kind of Mr K to drive you in his new car - wipe your shoes first please. Bizarre speech by Rish! yesterday basically telling everyone that 14 years of the party he leads pumping hate into the nation has made people hate others. In that sense and that sense alone the plan, if there ever was one, is working. This year has seen a sprint for the line in that regard and the last week or two have been a disgrace. Here #1 son and JKP will try to gently persuade 94 yo MIL that the entire remaining contents of her bungalow can't come here and will need to go to house clearance . My very best wishes go with them - not an easy situation for any of them. The good news is JKP has organised for a local business to do this for free as they are confident it can be sold. Enjoy your day.
Thank you @ianpspurs.

I am a bit late in posting today...
I am just taking it quiet and easy...

Wildlife nighttime video...
Badgers all night (3) & obsessed with the swing cloths
They also dug up a lot of my garden, overturned and dug out my plant pots, they raided my wormery, and Ma Badger looks pregnant to me...you can see Ma &Pa Badger & their son Boy Badger (he looks a tiny bit smaller than Pa). Pa Badger is the one who is usually interested in the swing.

No creative as such today, but a moment caught on camera.
BETRAYAL says Midnight
Why?
Some of you may remember, I spoke some days ago (a week or so) of blood all over the kitchen, of something that might have been killed in my kitchen, but no body. Like maybe a large rat.
Well, Merlin, who I call Kitchen Cat, who has taken up residence in my kitchen since last year, appeared traumatised after that event, and will now only sleep actually in my bungalow itself.
Yesterday I was having a nap in my bed, and I opened my eyes to see this....

IMG_6144.jpeg

My iPad was lying on my bed, so I took a quick photo.
BETRAYAL said Midnight's eyes.
Merlin has never got on my bed before. His stoic expression is saying to me that he's testing the waters to see if he can get away with this... or if I will accept this.

Midnight charged off, completely upset and would not talk to me for a couple of hours...
Merlin was upset I told him to get off the bed. I didn't shout. I just simply said no. And so he ran off.

It was a couple of hours before Midnight forgave me...

And I am trying to explain to Merlin he cannot get on my bed, but he can go anywhere in the bungalow, as much as a cat understands any of that. But he understood from my soft tone of voice that things were okay. And I gave Merlin some treats.

Midnight does not respond to treats of food. He just responds to you talking to him in a soft voice telling him is a lovely cat..

Merlin has been around since 2019 when some new people moved in this road. They had two cats, These two cats ran in and out of their front door when they had it open. But one day these people left. And they left both their cats behind. One found a home two doors down. And the ginger cat, I have now named Merlin, started living in my garden and on my swing, but I could never actually approach him or touch him. I fed him outdoors although he would often run away from me.

He lived on the swing in very harsh winter temperatures below freezing, but I could not persuade him to come indoors, I realised once I have the trail cameras up that he was living and sleeping every night on that swing. It was a long time before he came into the kitchen and would sleep on the cat bed on the floor, but he always ran out every time I went in the kitchen...

There was something else I noticed from when he was sleeping on the swing, and the trail cameras were recording his movement off the swing, Every night at exactly 5 am, he would leave the swing and he would not return until about an hour and a half or two hours later. I wondered why? I thought, maybe he found someone to feed him at that time of morning early hours. But it wasn't, it was something I find very sad.

And it breaks my heart, every time I see him. At 5 am he goes to his old house where his owners had lived and sits on the wall and looks straight at the front door and he sits there solidly for an hour and a half to 2 hours. The new people don't come out and feed him, he just sits there, then when his hour and a half is up he walks across the road comes back to mine and asks to be fed . He has done this every single day since his owners left in about 2020-21 I think it was. He was there this morning in the rain waiting again..

Do people know what they do to pets when they abandon them...

Merlin still won't allow me to pick him up but I can touch him. I can check his body is okay and I can stroke him. Midnight will tolerate Merlin taking his food. But I do give them both separate dishes in separate rooms. Merlin eats his own and then comes to the room I'm feeding Midnight and sits beside Midnight who is still slowly eating... Midnight looks at me, I say well if you let him eat the rest of your food, I'll give you some more in a bit. And Midnight sits down and lets Merlin dive into his dish.

But Merlin being on my bed in that photo was just a step too far for poor Midnight.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone on a sunny, bird chirping start the to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Early dinner out last night - table for 10. We have a reunion this evening. Mrs Miggins organises them every couple of years. So this afternoon it’s last minute “fine tuning” at the venue and then booking into a nearby hotel readying ourselves for the evening. Art bit - mixed media doodle. Hope you all have a good day. I need koffy.

reminds me of WWI front line with trenches and blasted trees.
I like it.

Such wise words @SlimLizzy .

And I know in your heart you know this @Lamont D .

God forgive me, but I never told mum that dad had died.

She'd be upset, obviously.
But I'd have to remind of that fact every single day because she'd forget ....and THAT, so wasn't happening.

You can't not lie, Mrs L is, as Lizzie says, rooted in THAT reality at times, sadly.

How distressing for her to think that what she deeply believes in, isn't true.

The things love makes us do, @Lamont D .

Hang tough mate & try to enjoy the more peaceful moments.
just a funny story to put in perspective.
I came back from shops and found Mrs L with her head in the big freezer. I asked why?
can't find Christmas turkey!
Why?
I was going to cook it for our dinner on our anniversary. She replied.

Turkey already eaten.
Anniversary is late March.

Mrs L apologised for missing anniversary later, she had misread her new clock!

Thanks for that advice. I actually do think it was the komboucha that did it. Over it now and getting back to normal. There appears to be a very small amount of alcohol in it, which may have triggered the effect. I'm told I don't hav e allergies because I don't swell up or develop a rash. It seems I have intolerances. Whatever they're called they are not pleasant.
I concur, I have plenty.. I can verify that.
Somehow not taken seriously by most medics.
Wish one of them could have one of my bad ones like my lactose intolerance.

6.7 even with the site throat, but of a sniffle.
Really set today, not stopped since getting out of bed.
And going the shops and going the footie. I had five layers on and it was still baltic.
Where is our spring?

Not much to report, got a chicken curry in the oven, to warm me up.
Watching the television footie and darts.

Hoping @JohnEGreen is okay.
Still concerned about @lindisfel.

My best wishes to you all as always!

Have just caught up with posts. A very hectic day of classes and 1:1s.

You are right @ianpspurs - it was kind of Mr K to drive me in today. We spent almost the whole of the drive into Norwich trying to work out how the car audio system worked.

I suppose we should have read the instruction manual first. Although I have wondered if the person who wrote the manual for my last car had actually ever driven my car before they wrote the manual. That has rather put me off car instruction manuals.

Early this morning. Stuff to do today...

Nighttime wildlife video
The badger & Cat Jade...Where's that Cat gone says Badger, I only wanted to say hello...a few hours later Jade says at last it's daylight now I can have a good sound sleep in peace...

Creative - a bit of a mess here. I was trying to do a sketch in bed in the app early this morning, and combining the daffodils with the silver birch trees. I gave myself 10 minutes. I wanted to try some colour in a quick sketch. I forgot to make a layer when I should've done, I forgot to save between the progress of the sketches, and then I got completely lost when I lost my colour palette and swatches and couldn't get it back on again...but my 10 mins was up...so this is what you get...

Time for a cuppa...still some left in my flask...

And my exercises...

Another bad dream shortened the night even further than normal. BG at 0130 was 10.8. Had a few short naps in the kitchen chair until Libre woke me up again to tell me it was now 11.5. 2nd cup of tea and pills/ BG now down to 8.4.

The front porch is in disarray with no plasterboard on the front wall, but Neil reckons it won't be any colder than normal because now the insulation is so much improved - there were gaps that he could see daylight through around the door and window when he stripped the board off. He's told me that I will have to empty the larder because the men will need to work on the back wall of it. Not at all sure where I'm going to put all of that. Nothing fresh in there but load of jars, cans and packets. Just have to pack it all up into boxes and see if we can find some storage space.

I'm looking online to see if I can hire a storage container to park in the garden that we could put stuff in for the duration. Plenty of space out there.

Thank you @jjraak .

5.5 this morning. We are having a relaxing Sunday and won't venture far from our village.

Am really tired today as yesterday was non-stop teaching with no breaks - not even a 5 minute break. I am obviously under the delusion that I am Wonder Woman.

Well it’s daffodils and I love the colours. I turned it on it’s side - looks fab.

Good morning everyone on a pleasantly quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Reunion came and went - lots of folk happily catching up. Mrs Miggins did a splendid job and hopefully will take it easy today but probably not. Art bit - laid down some random ink and paint and then tried to make something of it once it dried. Hope your Sunday is as pleasant as it can be. I shall wait until I get home to have koffy - the hotel stuff looks ghastly.
