What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

9.7 this morning (not too bad given I forgot to turn my corrections back on :hilarious: ) I turn them off for lunch as they send me way too low and it’s the only way I have found to combat it, even my nurses agree it’s the best way for me. I do have a reminder to turn them back on but I clearly forgot to actually do it!!

Good evening @ChrisT2 and welcome to this FBG thread. We're pleased you could join us.
Those blood glucose readings do look on the high side. May I ask what medication you're taking?
Hi, thanks for response. My meds Alogliptin 12.5mg / Metformin 1g tablets, twice per day with breakfast and evening dinner.
Just for interest 7.8 last night and 8.2 this morning before breakfast and tabs. In all honesty one of my better results.

Morning @ChrisT2

When was your last annual review? Do you know the result of your most recent HbA1c test please?

One approach is to have your last meal of the day no later than, say, 18.00-19.00 and avoidi snacks afterwards . This gives your stomach a rest before you hit the hay and, when done consistently, works wonders for FBG readings on waking the next morning.

Annual review in March 24, Hba1c was 64, for last 4 years always been around 60 mark. Had meal approx 1900. Disappointing today as started quite good for me but got worse before lunch. Really depresses me that readings are not consistent with anything. Beginning to wish I hadn't bothered looking into finger prick readings and carried on in ignorance. Any still smiling.

Still smiling @ChrisT2. That's the spirit. They say ignorance is bliss, but believe me there's nothing blissful about not knowing, where diabetes is concerned. The sooner you tackle this, the better. If you bury your head in the sand, complications are apt to set in and you don't want that.

As regards having your last meal no later than 18.00-19.00, this approach helps if done consistently.
Above all, please keep posting your numbers.
