What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and @gennepher truly hot stuff.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.5

Today here in Tilehurst Towers it will be busy one at the coal face of life.

An update on Mrs J, thankfully and worryingly Mrs J is gaining more confidence in using her arm and balance. Hence the time frame for planting her under a patio is shrinking and me being planted under the patio is increasing.

Now I must go……..instructions are being issued……at length :-)

Morning all from L.A. where we are promised a summer's day - a promise more or less certain to be fulfilled. Shame there was no opportunity for a small wager on that. @gennepher winner for the creative but hug for the excessive heat in your bungalow. @dunelm hug for the effects of the current weather but winner for the art. Is this an effect of ageing since you must have been in warmer climes from what you have said of your hinterland. I'm first up again and pleased to be able to contribute even in a minor way to making the team work. I need to be mindful that being over ambitious too soon could mean I myself need more care and impede the team performance. The ceiling fans I was so keen to remove on day one here are a blessing, especially in the master bedroom. Many houses here have air con simply for the rental market. Whether the level of warmth suits or discomforts you I hope you somehow find moments - or hours - of peace and joy today. God bless and keep you all , now and always.

5.2 at 03.30. No food yet - just lots of drinks - I have an itchy throat due to an odd kind of cold (it was sore yesterday but today only itchy). Libre warned me that my BG was below 4 so an opportunity to take a Strepsil - not a sugar free one. Hasn't helped but it might boost my BG. Very "chesty" during the night, but that seems to have eased off this morning so I guess the cold is on its way out.

Scenic has gone to the garage to get another job done - bearing on the other side this time. That'll be another £400 I expect. The car is getting to that stage where you have to pay more in repairs than the value of the vehicle but what has to be has to be. I need it and can't afford another car.

I am worried Lamont it's feared I have some cognitive impairment. So I am hoping it doesn't get any worse. A year ago I was fine.
Derek
No I never thought I would be affected. Its a blow and no mistake. I have lost my ability to drive although I feel fine but the seizure in hospital on Feb 15 is the culprit.
The fact that one has a faultless record carries no weight whatsoever.
Just have to keep going whatever.
I just wish my faith was as strong as Ian's.

Hug for the seizure Derek. If that was a one off I think technically you could be able to drive again in six months. As for faith, your's is as strong as anyone's and this isn't a strongest faith contest. It isn't a question of our faith but the love and power of the focus of that faith. Talking of which, I believe it is not only the feast of John the Baptist but birthday of @Ryhia who "lurks" here sometimes. Happy birthday C.

Thank you @ianpspurs
Yes, you must not be over ambitious...tred very slowly/carefully. I am the same with this new processor set up and remapping, no sound/voice/noise makes sense, I (my brain/neural pathways) have to learn the meaning of each and every noise & sound all over again. Yesterday I pushed my practice too much and nearly blew a gasket in my brain...

I agree with everything Ian says @lindisfel
Even the sentence where he says technically you should be able to drive again in 6 months. I wanted to say a few days ago when you expressed aspects of all this, that I believed there was a possibility you could drive again (I didn't say it because I wondered if I was irresponsible in believing that for you). If I can refine that statement, is what I believe when things are bad, is that I say, I believe I will be able to do/achieve that again, or the Universe has something better in store/planned for me. I've always believed that. Even as a child, even though I wasn't taken care of, I always believed that something (in my child's mind that would be fairies or angels) would take care of me in times of need.

I had to stop driving a couple of years ago now. It was my own decision because my eyes were deteriorating and I lost confidence in my ability to judge distances or spaces. Luckily, Neil drives my car for me. Not sure what I would do otherwise. It is hard to be deprived of your licence at the moment, but there is a good chance that it will only be for a limited period. Better to err on the side of caution until the DVLA is sure you are fit again. Six months will pass quickly enough - time is speeding up, after all - it is for me anyway and I daresay for quite a few folk on this thread. I feel that your spirits are a bit low at the moment but be sure that all of us are thinking of you, praying for you, or if not actually praying then hoping(amounts to the same thing) for better times to come for you.

Thank you so much Ian for your encouragement.

It would be nice to believe the loss will be limited and you spot on about my spirits being low. Thanks for your encouragement Ann.

Thank you Gennepher for you very positive view of life. Your an encouragement to us all.

@lindisfel you may not be fully aware of just what a vast, cuddly blanket/cloud of love from everyone here (and probably all who have ever been blessed to meet you) enfolds you which as you know is itself a pale copy of the love of your creator. You are so loved and admired by all here. God bless and keep you and Marjorie.

Nighttime Wildlife videos

Badger & Cat at opposite ends of the swing at the same time.
Cat Midnight is NOT getting off the swing because the
badger is on it. The badger was on the swing for 2 full two minute clips. Then Midnight goes to sniff the badger's scent....

There are two regular adult male badgers that visit. One is Kissy Kissy who I later renamed Pa Badger who is still unable to jump on the swing (he can climb but not jump). The other large male badger, is this one, who can jump on the swing with a ballerina's ease.

There are also some younger male badgers who have jumped on the swing.

But none yet, have had the audacity to jump on the swing while Midnight was still on!

And Midnight had no intention of moving!!!

Creative...my new series of trees and bushes drawn on paper with Black Japanese calligraphy pen. Put in Snapseed for copyright, name & date.

Far too hot already...I cannot function in this hot weather...
Never again will I buy a bungalow where my bedroom is directly under the attic space. My bedroom was 24C yesterday. Last night I had 4 fans going, two small personal fans (one for me and one for Midnight who is sleeping in the armchair), and also a large humidifier which takes ice cubes, and two personal misters (one for Midnight and one for myself). The temperature in my bedroom with these kind of outside hot temperatures we are getting at the moment can rise to over 30C and stay there for a week even when temperatures reduce. All of these devices will run off electricity or in the event of a power cut, will run off battery packs, or larger power packs I have. I have a good supply of extra fully charged power packs for all my devices.

And this is the first time I have ever had a cat, Midnight in this case, stay in the bungalow during a heat wave, They all usually go to the undergrowth and lie there panting.

Ginger cat Merlin in the kitchen also has his own personal mister. There are currently 6 fans going in the kitchen, one on either side of the fridge and 2 freezers, otherwise they overheat in this hot weather, and one humidifier. The temperature in the kitchen was 40C yesterday. This is normal in hot weather.

Have your best day...

Hot, hot and more hot - and, a splendid piece of Sumi-e

Thank you @ianpspurs and yes, the swelling of the ankles is just the age of the train - leaves on the line and all that.

Perhaps ask your GP about the possibility of driving in the future. A friend of mine had a seizure and then nothing for 12 months so DVLA said that he could drive again.

Good morning everyone on another bright and beautiful day. 6.1 this a.m. - I suspect the heat of the day. My ankles swell when the temperature is not to this bodies liking. Increase water intake, magnesium, elevate legs (how does one walk?) - hey ho! National cycling championships yesterday so rolling road closures. Got home between laps and then wandered into town to do some clapping and cheering. Art bit, continuing the theme. Hope your day is a good one. Best make some koffy.
Brilliant art bit @dunelm
Hope today is not too hot for you...
