What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on an overcast but rain free start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Thought that I spied a couple of Redwings yesterday cavorting in the garden. Early evening. They were small, thrush like and there were splashes of rusty red as they darted about on the shrubs, bouncing about on the ground - maybe, maybe not. Took to my bed at 9 pm last night, quite tired. Slept until just after 6. My dad has a lesion on one of his ears. It has to be removed but he has taken all week to weigh that up. At 95 he thinks that the days are shortening and it’s not worth the bother. But it’s painful so he has decided to go ahead. Mum will go to the hospital with dad on 23rd and stay with him. He is not a fan of hospitals and dentists; mum doesn’t mind and is a fine example of bionic inserts and lumps of titanium. Anyhow. Art bit - tree. Hope your day goes well. Hugs for the England squad and anyone who dropped from the top of a euphoric cliff into the depths of disappointment. It would have been a great boost. Off to Whitby this morning to see the Galeón Andalucía but first, some koffee before I wake up Mrs Miggins.
Redwing is migrant but living on the East Coast all sorts of stuff can turn up. We have to wait while September to see a Redwing.
Blackbird here been 'anting' this am in front garden.

Fbg 6.6

The video software still has me tearing my hair out....
I have lost so many decent clips trying to trim, split, cut, splice and all that palaver...I give this app one week of trying and if I get nowhere, I have another app lined up...

This video is a mess, but it's my best effort while I am learning...

There was a Small Tortoiseshell in my kitchen. It had just hatched out. So, I let it out this morning.

This might be the second butterfly I have seen this year. The first one was awhile ago, and I think that hatched out in my garden. It was a Holly Blue. I 'll check the garage and the potting shed later and see if any have hatched out and I will guide them out.
It is usually Peacock butterflies that hatch out here, I have loads of nettles. And Cabbage Whites - usually all their caterpillars devour all my tree kale and tree cabbage, but this year there was not one Cabbage White caterpillar. So, this year, for the first time, I am able to harvest my kale and cabbage in the summer. In fact there has been no pests or caterpillars devouring anything this year...

The kaleidoscope is of the tortoiseshell butterfly...

The sun is out at the minute but we are promised thunderstorms in a wee bit...

Have your best day...

Thank you for sharing the amazing kaleidoscope but hug for the frustration with the new software. Are you still getting a good number of views and has the ridiculous troll issue been resolved? Your love of wildlife and sharing that with others via those videos isn't something I imagine the Tech Bros had in mind when planning their wondrous new world but bringing pleasure to giver and recipient is very spiritual imho. Will the thunder make that bungalow cooler and better for you today?

Morning Team D.2

FBG a decent 6.3, so I'm happy with that given the timing .

Eye update, can now confirm eye bubble is at halfway point.
(See attachment, if more detail needed )

Rather an odd experience trying to use eye & move around.

But vision in clear area much better than it was, so all seems to be progressing nicely.

@gennepher thank you for the tip on applying eye drops.

Used since you posted, way better with only one or two wayward drops.

Not seeing the football the way some others in the media are.

Had Spain to win from the first game, by far the best team overall.

But having said that, I was one who was critical of the England team methods, perhaps proved wrong by getting to the final, maybe, but such is life.

Would like to have seen kane off much earlier and Palmer on instead.

Palmer played major part once he was on & gave england some zip each game.

I had Spain as the better team last night, however England were not outplayed or disgraced themselves .

Boys fought & played a good game, scrub out that goal line clearance & we'd be singing their praises.

Heads held high, I say

A 2 horse race so someone had to win, but kudos to the squad ensembled for getting so far.

2 best in Europe ?....not sure that's a bad accolade to be able to quote in any conversation, imho.

Enjoy the day, y'all.
Sounds like you are doing well with that eye @jjraak

About the eye drops tip I gave - I keep the little finger on the bump on my nose after doing the right eye, and swivel over to the left eye, and then apply the drop/s in that left eye.
At least I don't impale my eyes with this method. You just need to find the optimum point on your nose to rest your little finger and you get bullseye every time....

EDIT I said on my original post about the eye drops, that I was lying down (I can't tilt my head backwards when standing) to apply them.

Thank you @ianpspurs
Yes still getting good views.
YouTube views dropped to under a hundred, the last couple of videos, but this one today had a slow start, but it has had an extra couple hundred views in the last hour and is now up to 345 views - not bad for a vid with me learning new software ...
With Instagram I am spoilt, because each video gets 1k plus views. This is because Instagram puts them all on their Facebook account.
With YouTube I can change a couple of things on my video even after I have posted, which helps views a little.
And with YouTube you have to be proactive even after posting to maximise your views. But I have that many video clips which I can edit, so I am doing the next video, so no time left in my day...

The troll issue has been by and large sorted, and I have strategies in place, but like anyone that whole issue is upsetting when you first encounter it with its intensity and intensity and viciousness. Many people have given up and left YouTube and social media. I feel so sad for these other people because they are unable to deal with it, and it means the rest of us are deprived of some good stuff these people are posting.

I don't naturally have a hard shell, but I can sure as heck develop one for specific situations .

I do have some interesting conversations with some of my viewers. And I enjoy that because it gives an interesting insight into their lives that I would have no concept of without seeing the videos they post...

I am hoping this thunderstorm materialises, like the Met Office promise...and if it does it should cool off the attic space....

Thanks Ian.

You have a good day...

A rather warmer but still cloudy day here on the peninsula, the threat of them thunderstorms that @gennepher mentioned for later. 7.0
Birds aplenty out on the footie pitches, different varieties of gulls, pigeons, doves, blackbirds, sparrows, magpies, and a few more. It's because the footie pitches have been seeded.
Hope dad's op goes well.

A bad night, a nightmare, a bete noir which was horrible.
Not the footie!
And after it not much sleep. Have done chores at a snails pace, just so lethargic and tired.

It started with myself and two friends, I don't know who, but with me.
We were being chased by three persons(?).
My friends took on two of them, I found myself running down an entry (alleyway) into a basement flat, and I hid as one searched for me, it used a probe to disturb me. It came through the door and I threw it back out, but I was really tired, sat down, when a prescience sat next to me whispering calming thoughts.
He moved closed and became a part of me, all the time, helping me to relax and letting my body accept his comfort. I use that word, as he told me he was the comforter, he was preparing me for what follows.
I became totally immersed in the presence.
My whole body was enveloped and I couldn't move, my legs.
Something inside me, didn't like it. And I was gonna have to do something.
But it resisted, I started kicking with my feet, it was still trying to tell me to be comfortable in his presence.
I got my legs free, then my arms, pushed with all my strength, then I woke up.
My heart beating heavily, sweating, palpitations, heavy breathing and a lot more.
But I was so scared, frightening, anxious, through the roof.
My first thought was, what if I hadn't fought back and woke up?
Is this the way it all ends? The comforter, what is he? Is he real?
Not heard of it before.
So why am I dreaming about it?
Is he a reaper?
Or just another of my weird dreams?
It was horrible
My second thought was Mrs L, so I can assure you all that I didn't win that battle.
But I'm still feeling from that nightmare.
I've had bad experiences in my dreams, including being injured badly in them.
But this is so scary.

I was gonna do some painting, no way!
I am wary of falling asleep, even downstairs.
No appetite, no energy, not want to do anything!
Not me!

I know that, after a good night's sleep, I will be my old self.

My best wishes to you all as always.

With no sport today I have taken to reading. I now remember why I so admired my A Level history teacher - Mr Dyson - who recommended the book I think mainly inspired me to study the subject further. There is an online version from which the attached is taken. You may detect the reason I so like this text from the language and humour of Dangerfield. Nature or art don't boil my bacon, language used well like this and the KJB do. Some of you should be able to guess the subject of this brilliant extract. One of my A Level History teachers was a Cambridge man the other Oxford - guess which one inspired me? :)

Sounds as though you are having lucid dreams?
I had them over twenty years ago.
I appealed to Jesus for help and it seemed as if a switch had been thrown and the dream and it effects ended immediately.

Good afternoon fellow posters and painters.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.6

Was orf out earlyish this morning another trip to the local hospital, then as a special treat had lunch at the local cafe, a very refined level of banter, or abuse from the staff who know me extremely well. Lunch for me consisted of a Caesar salad without the croutons, Mrs J lunch was a mixture of American type food high in sugars and fruits, topped of with bacon. Yes I don’t understand it either.

Now I must depart and clear up the breakfast detritus in the kitchen.

Smashing tortoiseshell kaleidoscope, well caught.

Is this The Strange Death of Liberal England?

That happen a lot with farmers whose ears are exposed from under a cap. The tumours are cancers but not usually melanomas.
D.
Thanks @lindisfel - on retirement my dad was head of Psychology at Bristol Royal Infirmary although he was always in the garden when not working, fiddling about in his orchard that he built up using strange sounding varieties - unfortunately this is melanomas. My mum is very concerned as my sister’s cancer started with a mere tooth ache and despite three series of treatment, she could not survive it.

Have had them all my my life Derek.
They come in Technicolor and they tell a story usually.
And very vivid.
I'm glad you had yours sorted.
I'm actually so down, that has been the effect of it.

I can only think of Churchill.
maybe DLG?
And that is not my area of history.

A few photos from our visit to the Galleon Andalucia in Whitby today. More importantly, the sun shone on St Swithin's day so I am expecting sunshine, happy smiling people and open air music concerts.

Yes DLG - no, he didn't know my father. Churchill doesn't come out too well in that book but it was published in 1935. @dunelm yes it is the Strange death of Liberal England.

This on the 1909 budget is rather spiffing:
Mr. Lloyd George redoubled his efforts, uttering his underbred witticisms from a score of platforms in a voice as soft as snowfall ; and up and down the country certain noblemen emerged from the rustic obscurity to which history had consigned them and began to trade public insults with their persecutor, which, though quite as unmannered as his, were unfortunately far less effective.

Sounds uncannily like the problem the Democrats have dealing with Trump - except his utterings are coarse and growled. I think Nancy deals/dealt with him best.
