What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Greetings one and all from a sun kissed L.A. on Trinity plus 9. The year moves along apace but 'tis just a tad early for stirrup Sunday. @JohnEGreen good news on getting at least some sleep. Having googled PAD thoughts and prayers with you with that as well as your other issues. @Annb hug for DIL. Apparently a pharmacist may be able to prescribe anti virals for shingles but are any open on Sunday in your area? @Lamont D I hope the migraine has gone or at least subsided today. @alf_Josiah I'd avoid panache if it has that effect on you :playful: @gennepher thank you for the creative and thoughts with you during this warm spell. @Krystyna23040 I hope you and Mr K have a simply wonderful time with your daughter and grandchildren. @dunelm thank you for the link to that art and the earlier one on Stoicism: not for me, ultimately devoid of hope. Interesting though, especially the linguistic/conceptual connection to St Paul and the use of pneuma. Glosses over how Paul is very anti many Hellenic ideas and definitely headed for Rome. Thanks also for sharing the art. Enjoy your precious time with those girls. We have the rich blessing of two grandchildren this week and potentially two gatherings - one of all seven. Today's OT reading came from the Song of Solomon: family gatherings are an echo of the deeper meaning there imho. The cricket is so one sided it is boring. Have a great day if you can, especially if you are a British Olympian. Oh, many happy returns The Right Excellent Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, NH, AO, OCC.
Thank you @ianpspurs

Doesn't it just effect one side of body?
I had it in one arm.
It does. Just realised my typing error. I should have said foot not feet. I always thought that with shingles, anti-viral treatment should be started very quickly or it would be too late. Here there are no pharmacies open on Sunday. Possibly the hospital pharmacy was already closed by the time they got there on Saturday and that was why they couldn't be given anything to help.

Have had a really brilliant day. Have gone over 2 training videos and got a lot of new exercises.
They are quite hard exercises so I am not sure if class members will be completely happy with them:):):).
Class members have asked Mr K if he could stop me doing training courses, but I am sure that they dont really mean that..
Am typing this on my PC as predictive text is out of control on my tablet today but does not seem to be active on my PC thank goodness
Am so pleased that I have done these videos because they are only available for a limited time.
The 3rd five hour video I think I have got for longer because I will need to learn it thoroughly because I want to get a new qualification based on it - but I will be able to go over quite a lot of it later today and tomorrow morning before daughter and granddaughter arrive.
I made Mr K lunch because he really has been working hard today.

Anyone for broad beans? Not my favourite vegetable possibly due to my idea of total food nightmare being my dad's way of eating them with white sauce. Anything in white sauce is a horror show for me. Surreal but true story of Cambs police hiding in ditches to catch broad bean rustlers in my home village. As an 18 year old in my gap year I made some money selling on broad beans I'd legally bought to office workers in Cambridge. Broad bean falafel sounds tasty - proper falafel - not the store bought ones - are a delight. Should surely be able to make some lowish carb with these as a base. Zoe are keen on beans in the diet.

@Krystyna23040 Good news on your great day. I do have visions of you doing weighted squats, lunges and planks while making Mr K's lunch and him patiently waiting, tummy rumbling, saying nothing, just smiling knowingly. Won't be long now dear, just another a few more sets - I mean minutes :playful:

Thank you @ianpspurs - it’s breath Jim, but not as we know it.

Broad beans - such a faff for so little reward - French beans - blanch a bit, drain, bit of olive oil, grated parmesan and into the salad.

6.3 to start the day at 03.30 but upwards from the on. Lazy day - done nothing that I meant to do. Legs, predictably, worse and burning but still not any more than uncomfortable really, just big, skin shiny, red and stretched and blistered. Soles of feet beginning to swell as well. Only 4 more days to go until I can get remedial bandaging done. It just demonstrates how much good the bandaging usually does.

Turned sunny this am then very hot for Cumbria this pm.

Afraid the Olympics not one of my favourites.
I like to tune into the Games every now and then, when I have a spare moment @lindisfel. It's an opportunity to find out more about the minority sports that are seldom shown on TV.

Sunday's FBG 4.3 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.

Morning...
Fell asleep before I'd properly propped myself up, and filled the bedside fan with water to last the night. Back garden got up to 25C yesterday, and so the heat began building up in my bedroom again...
And woke up with bad heartburn because I had slid part way down the bed.
Having a cuppa tea now...
Wide awake now I've done the above....
A friend just messaged to say she has a hornet in her bedroom...that'll keep her busy for the night. I'd rather heartburn than a hornet!!!
Another cuppa tea....

04.30 today BG was 8.3. Dropped a bit and then back up a bit. Must do some of the jobs I didn't do yesterday. Dishwasher is loaded and on, but that's all I've done so far. There's washing to do and a stripped bed to remake (always a difficult one for me, but I will have to do it). There's furniture to be moved in the bedroom to make better use of space - that will depend on help from Neil, if he's feeling up to it. There's a few sewing jobs to be done (probably not today though). There's some baking to be done to prepare for an event during the week. That's not even thinking about sorting out the junk yard that is my hall and living room. I wonder how much of it I will get done today.

Morning all from what promises to be a sunny day here in L.A.. I know not my fbg since I doubt the steroid and antibiotic fuelled level would help me in managing The D going forward one jot or tittle. @Annb hug for the leg issue: busy day organised in your head - have a Jess Glynne song. @Krystyna23040 I hope you and Mr K have a wonderful time with your daughter and grandchildren. @dunelm enjoy the joy, wonder and hope those girls will bring: yes, there will be a trade off in tiredness - blame Adam and Eve's bad choices. @gennepher thoughts and prayers with you in this warm/hot spell. Steroids reliably woke me at 4.12 am so that I could organise P world ready for JKP to go collect two amazing, life affirming grandchildren from Cambs by 7.00 am. The D and Elsie Keto suck: not as much as BP and the Big C but God has a way of cutting through life’s bucket of carp and just now those two children will do nicely thank you. Enjoy Monday if at all possible. Now excuse me as I must vacuum (whose idea was it to have two dogs JKP?), hopefully without waking MIL.

That lot is a week's worth of work at least @Annb
Take it easy.....

Thanks @ianpspurs

Good luck on the vacuuming.....

Thanks Ian, but I'm not too hard on myself. I have targets but if I fail to reach them, I can live with that. Some things I have to achieve and, whatever it take, I will. Other things will just stay on the to-do list until I can get around to them.

Have a great day with your grandchildren. Thoughts and prayers with you and yours always.

A winner for the joy of grandchildren - the best of treasures.

I have a just-done list, far more satisfying than a list of stuff yet to be crossed off - mind you a to-do list would grow visibly day by day like some nightmare bamboo.

Good morning everyone on an all things bright and beautiful start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.7 this a.m. and already washing is on the line, the twins have breakfasted and are now dressed and busy arguing about whose apple is the juiciest. Food festival yesterday should have been renamed “who can park a car like a ****”. Events and beauty spots nowadays seem to be like attractive crops for plagues of locusts. Anyhow, £9 for a hot dog - look away kids! Most things on offer either big sticky buns or something shoved into a massive lump of carbs. Ice creams down on the beach - more again today. The grandchildren want to go down through the woods this morning - excellent - then onto the lower prom - buckets and spades in hand. Best make a picnic. I think that grandma is taking them into the big town for new sandals later today - very exciting. Art bit - a brace of tree. Enjoy your day if you can in spite of any distress. I shall make koffy and get on with the picnic making.

Fbg 7.1

Nighttime wildlife video
Badger (is he missing the cats?)....and then chewing (?) up my mats...
This is Pa Badger, from last year, who is doing the extreme stretching in the beginning of the video.
He always tended to do this kind of stretch...but this is the most extreme I have seen him doing it...
47secs

Badgers were having a party last night, and destroyed one of my smaller sun colourful beach parasols protecting my vegetable gardens from the sun. I cannot take them down each evening, it is just too much for me.
I hadn't quite finished my protection with plastic covered wire fencing to make a cover for the second wormery. I was too tired in the very warm day yesterday, and so I left it until today.
Alas the badgers made their one last foray into that second wormery (the size of a large black dustbin), and ate a third of the worms...a few thousand worms?
I get the ground is hard, no proper rain for some time, and so they are in destructive mode trying to find food.
Anyway I'll finish it off in a minute before the day gets too hot.

Creative...ink blots...what to do today, since my last brain cell is on strike...er...a something or other for absolutely no reason at all...

Sun is out.
Clear blue skies.
Have your best day.
