What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Have been trying out taking more extra virgin olive oil and I don't know if it is coincidence but my blood sugars are staying really stable and pleasingly low throughout the day.

A tablespoon of olive oil is not particularly pleasant but actually is not too horrid. Have been taking it because I am very prone to inflammation and it does seem to be helping with that so better blood sugars is a bonus. Actually olive oil is much nicer than WD40 for oiling the joints.

Today is a special treat day - ice cream at the Victoria. I am not expecting very good readings tomorrow. Even with the olive oil.

I think I hear my visitors stirring so better close down my tablet.

Morning all from another sun bathed day in L.A - no Tequila sunrise. @JohnEGreen hug for the leg pain and O2 levels. I'm assuming you've tried the 111 and e-consult routes besides the advice offered by @gennepher and @dunelm. @dunelm yesterday sounds like an action packed day with a bill for your body due today. Thanks for sharing the itinerary and the wonderful art. @Krystyna23040 I'm sure you will all have a wonderful time at Holkham - especially the food and coffee. JKP is off to Cromer today then staying overnight for a day at Pleasurewood Hills with all the boys and grandchildren for a 6th birthday celebration. I have to stay out of the sun and look after the dogs and MIL. At 94.5 and badly affected by sun she can't spend a day in this heat. I'm won't lie, this is a real memento mori/Gethsemane moment like living through family life after me. Very strange and not remotely helped by living here or Elsie Keto. No hugs needed just journaling my pilgrimage as objectively as I can. I only "know" what I have treasured and still hold most dear in this world. I can only take on trust how much better the Kingdom will be than this pale reflection: it absolutely won't have atrocities like the Southport stabbings. These aren't the good old days but we are afforded glimpses - the glance - of something incomparably better. Have a wonderful (imho) Carly Simon song after my drivel and enjoy a hot, hot, hot Tuesday.

Good Afternoon all

Blood sugars this morning were 5.7

Just got back to Tilehurst Towers after taking Mrs J to the hospital earlier this morning for another pre op check. The deity of Reading traffic was up to his / her / its usual tricks, come the revolution said deity will be the first up against the wall……hopefully.

The minor traffic irritant does not detract from the fact that it’s a beautiful day on this the third rock from our local solar fusion reactor. A reason to look on the bright side of life.

Now I must depart, hide in the shade waiting to pounce on the postman, yep it’s my turn to bark at the postman.

Thank you @ianpspurs - just 4 miles so far today - taking it easy.

Sensible idea imho. Other Jackson Browne/Eagles summer songs are available: perfectly on me 'ead son, bosh get in :D JKP has sent videos of beach life which I have shared with MIL on the big screen - a blessing indeed. If I'm honest, in this weather there is no British beach or seaside I would want to be anywhere near until late evening and even then probably in a car, overlooking the sea with a travel mug of h/m tea/coffee. I can't imagine a rash vest, Tilley hat and leg coverings being comfortable today. Lyrics for you Genn

Late into the fray today. A few weeks ago I had a bad flare-up of my arthritis but it sorted itself out and I got back to my normal discomfort managed with pain killers. Same thing happened last night and today. Ankles, knees (left in particular), shoulders, neck, hands. And - ouch lower back just reminded me that it's joining in the fun as well. BG is in the 8-10 range. Now, at 15.00 is the first time I've managed to get out of my chair since I struggled through at 02.30. Even then it was only a short shift from armchair to office chair right beside it. Minimal fluids and no food so far. Fluids will make me need to get to the toilet and I can't do that. I daresay it will sort itself out again fairly soon. Not going so well right now so I have to shift chairs again.

Gentle hugs, thoughts and prayers with you. What with you, @JohnEGreen @dunelm (and I imagine @gennepher in this heat ) it sounds as though I'm blessed here today. Take care.

You are right @ianpspurs - we had a wonderful time at Holkham and the food and coffee was exceptionally good.
Hope you had a good day - even though you couldn't go to Cromer today and Pleasurewood Hills tomorrow.

Too hot for me last night, heat building up in bungalow again.
Too hot for iPad mini as well. It keeps on overheating, and shutting down until it has cooled down.
My big iPad was overheating as well, so I left it off. But it has all my work on it, and so I cannot do that.
I have another fan blowing on the iPad mini to write and post this...

I went out to do messages and collect prescription, but not everything was in, so another trip is needed. In one shop, their till isn't working properly, but with cash I was still able to buy...

So, I didn't get back until midday. Shoved stuff in the freezer, and taped door to be safe!! By the way, it is a table top freezer, so it's very small!
It should shut itself in a few days....

I just want to stay in for a bit (the fridge, table top as well got taped shut with duct tape too...) and not go out...I cancelled tomorrow's arrangements to be out all day...( availability of toilets mean I won't be able to drink enough water this hot weather)...

Badger has been a blithering nuisance in the night. I didn't have the stamina or energy to make the cover for the kitchen door wormery last night (neither have I had energy today, I have been asleep all afternoon), and so I was looking for something to sprinkle the bin with. Found a carton of chilli powder to deter some mice years ago, and there was still some left, so, I sprinkled the outside of that bin, for last nIght...it worked!!!
BUT...the badger went to the back garden wormery...and pulled away all the heavy pots and other bins with plants in them. They were determined to get at the worms, pulled the very heavy dustbin full of worms and earth that the worms have made from my kitchen rubbish, over. But my plastic covered wire mesh cover held the lids on...just...
There is a little chilli powder left so I will be sprinkling it over that wormery...
I have just been on Amazon, and made an urgent order of 5 kilograms of red hot chilli powder....

In this nighttime wildlife you can see Pa Badger hopping on his hind legs all around my fuschia bush to get the berries ...
38 secs

I haven't seen head nor tail of my raspberries yet this year. I am trying to replant them out of the badger's reach...

Creative...my one remaining brain cell suggested drawing eyes with my white pens on this blot. That was a silly idea because they have all dried up. However, I managed this.

So, not achieved anything today...

I will do better tomorrow...

I hope you had a good day...

Good morning everyone on an all things bright and beautiful start here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this a.m. 7 miles yesterday - down through the woods with the miniature scooter gang - a bit of foraging although at this time of year such things as nettles and plantains will need cooking - berries coming along but still green. Some seeds and then sea lettuce in the rock pools down on the beach. Ice creams for the scooter gang then along the lower prom and up through the other woods. Called into the post office on our way home. I bought a card some months ago, a print from a local artist. Posted it to my mother - should arrive in time for her birthday - quelle surprise. Lunch - the girls went shopping and then down to the beach again to search for hermit crabs - brought a bucket full of shells home. Art bit - we painted our hands with sumi-e ink. Enjoy your day - I need a bit of pain relief this morning and some good koffy to gee me up a bit.
Little trees on the ends of thumbs and fingers..
How on earth did you get that ink off afterwards @dunelm ?

Thank you for sharing the aquatic creative. I'd say that's an achievement for the day.

Good that the chilli powder looks that it will be effective against the badgers damaging your wormeries.
I really like your creative today @gennepher
