What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Received a letter from the HMRC this morning for the fake company. Luckily I was able to speak to the helpline before we left for Holkham.

They were very helpful and said that I had done all the right things to resolve the problem.

Apparently they have had a lot of people phoning then with this issue in the last couple of weeks.

Nighttime wildlife video
Badger (is he missing the cats?)....and then chewing (?) up my mats...
This is Pa Badger, from last year, who is doing the extreme stretching in the beginning of the video.
He always tended to do this kind of stretch...but this is the most extreme I have seen him doing it...

Badgers were having a party last night, and destroyed one of my smaller sun colourful beach parasols protecting my vegetable gardens from the sun. I cannot take them down each evening, it is just too much for me.
I hadn't quite finished my protection with plastic covered wire fencing to make a cover for the second wormery. I was too tired in the very warm day yesterday, and so I left it until today.
Alas the badgers made their one last foray into that second wormery (the size of a large black dustbin), and ate a third of the worms...a few thousand worms?
I get the ground is hard, no proper rain for some time, and so they are in destructive mode trying to find food.
Anyway I'll finish it off in a minute before the day gets too hot.

Creative...ink blots...what to do today, since my last brain cell is on strike...er...a something or other for absolutely no reason at all...

Sun is out.
Clear blue skies.
Have your best day.

Well, your tired brain cells that threatened strike action rose to the occasion once again @gennepher. An imaginative piece of art inspired by an ink blot. Thank you for sharing.

Tuesday's FBG, 4.5 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.

Late into the fray today. A few weeks ago I had a bad flare-up of my arthritis but it sorted itself out and I got back to my normal discomfort managed with pain killers. Same thing happened last night and today. Ankles, knees (left in particular), shoulders, neck, hands. And - ouch lower back just reminded me that it's joining in the fun as well. BG is in the 8-10 range. Now, at 15.00 is the first time I've managed to get out of my chair since I struggled through at 02.30. Even then it was only a short shift from armchair to office chair right beside it. Minimal fluids and no food so far. Fluids will make me need to get to the toilet and I can't do that. I daresay it will sort itself out again fairly soon. Not going so well right now so I have to shift chairs again.

So sorry this has flared up again @Annb.

Some of us revel in blue skies and sunshine, but if you're feeling one degree under, a heat wave tends to aggravate symptoms and makes pain and swelling feel worse.

We tend to underestimate the fluid lost through perspiration, especially in warm weather, so please make sure you take sufficient fluid on board. It's a difficult balancing act I know, when you're trying to minimise trips to the loo, but you don't want the additional symptoms that come with even mild dehydration.

Sending gentle hugs and well wishes for a steady recovery.

Too hot for me last night, heat building up in bungalow again.
Too hot for iPad mini as well. It keeps on overheating, and shutting down until it has cooled down.
My big iPad was overheating as well, so I left it off. But it has all my work on it, and so I cannot do that.
I have another fan blowing on the iPad mini to write and post this...

I went out to do messages and collect prescription, but not everything was in, so another trip is needed. In one shop, their till isn't working properly, but with cash I was still able to buy...

So, I didn't get back until midday. Shoved stuff in the freezer, and taped door to be safe!!
It should shut itself in a few days....

I just want to stay in for a bit (the fridge got taped shut with duct tape as well...) and not go out...I cancelled tomorrow's arrangements to be out all day...( availability of toilets mean I won't be able to drink enough water this hot weather)...

Badger has been a blithering nuisance in the night. I didn't have the stamina or energy to make the cover for the kitchen door wormery last night (neither have I had energy today, I have been asleep all afternoon), and so I was looking for something to sprinkle the bin with. Found a carton of chilli powder to deter some mice years ago, and there was still some left, so, I sprinkled the outside of that bin, for last nIght...it worked!!!
BUT...the badger went to the back garden wormery...and pulled away all the heavy pots and other bins with plants in them. They were determined to get at the worms, pulled the very heavy dustbin full of worms and earth that the worms have made from my kitchen rubbish, over. But my plastic covered wire mesh cover held the lids on...just...
There is a little chilli powder left so I will be sprinkling it over that wormery...
I have just been on Amazon, and made an urgent order of 5 kilograms of red hot chilli powder....

In this nighttime wildlife you can see Pa Badger hopping on his hind legs all around my fuschia bush to get the berries ...
38 secs

I haven't seen head nor tail of my raspberries yet this year. I am trying to replant them out of the badger's reach...

Creative...my one remaining brain cell suggested drawing eyes with my white pens on this blot. That was a silly idea because they have all dried up. However, I managed this.

So, not achieved anything today...

I will do better tomorrow...

I hope you had a good day...

Another imaginative piece of art @gennepher, Your ink blots have such personality. Thank you for sharing.

Tuesday's FBG, 4.5 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.

A beautiful evening. Nothing stirred. Eventually, a couple of fox cubs put in an appearance just as the light faded at 9.00 pm.

The bird's bath is on a pedestal which the cubs cannot reach, but I watched the pair take it in turns to drink water from a bird bath which I'd positioned at ground level with the hedgehogs in mind.

Speaking of which, I haven't seen a hedgehog for some while, but they leave their visiting cards on a nightly basis, so cannot be far away.

You are lucky you have a whole bird bath @LivingLightly Mine is in 2 pieces. My birdbath was on a pedestal. I am assuming it was a badger, is now in two pieces with the bath itself on the ground I have tried mending it but it ended up in two pieces again. I gave up....

Tuesday's FBG, 4.5 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.
I have Sjögren's Syndrome @LivingLightly
And so I need to drink extra water anyway.
I drink more water than an average person.
But when we get to a heat wave, I really do need more extra water!
But, the point I want to make is, if I am becoming slightly dehydrated (and you would not expect that with the amount of water I drink on a daily basis), then my eyes become blurry, and that is one sign of dehydration.

I had an excellent Continence Nurse for well over a decade (about 15 years), all that went with Covid/Lockdowns/etc. It had been compulsory to see her in order to get my supply of continence pads. She would monitor my fluid/water intake, and I had to measure in a measuring jug the outflow...and fill in a chart for both...
She would also do an ultrasound, send me to the loo, and do the ultrasound again, and always tell me that I hadn't emptied myself enough, my bladder was not empty after I had been to the loo. She gave me strategies on how to empty my bladder better. And one was drinking enough water, it is harder to empty your bladder when you don't drink enough.

I appreciated this Continence lady at the time but I appreciate her even more now, and I wish she were still around.
The Continence Nurses now, say....are you okay, oh we don't need that water sample any more we don't bother with that and throw it in the bin, and sign the form for me to receive another year's continence pads. I am in and out in less than 5 mins now.

But with the Continence Nurse who did her job properly, it was an hour and a half by the time she had done all her tests and questions.

I have tried to explain to my friends over the years when they proudly proclaimed they hardly drank water/liquids, the advice this continence nurse gave me, but it fell on deaf ears....

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts. One thing I don't have to worry about here is the heat. No chance of sweating (outwith a hypo). In fact, even Neil decided it was time to turn the heating up yesterday. I was shivering under a knitted poncho and a woollen blanket. Heating is still on so I won't be so cold today. Flare up is easing slightly. Still difficult to walk, or even stand, but I can do it and my hands, while still sore can handle a bit of typing. So it's on its way out again. Another day or so should see me back to normal.

All the best with this stamina sapping heat. Chili powder, there’s a thing. Smashing ink blots.

Really happy with 5.6 this morning - especially after water 3 scoops of salted caramel ice cream at the Victoria yesterday.

Today we are off to wander around Norwich and we are going for a meal at Wagamama (daughter and granddaughter 's favourite place to eat in Norwich). I will take my Montazumas as a special treat after the meal.

Mr K suggested that it would be better if he stayed at home and looked after Poppy. What a shame that he will miss the wandering around the shops.

Morning all from L.A. on another sunny day. No fbg to report but if Elsie Keto is of any use in managing The D I got the memo and am sticking with the program. Sixth birthday for our granddaughter and all seven grandchildren, sons, partners and JKP stayed in a hotel before a day at Pleasurewood Hills. @Krystyna23040 really good news on the fbg after the ice cream. Mr K's judgement is as impeccable as ever. Shops in this weather - just say no :playful: @JohnEGreen I hope you slept better last night and your O2 levels are better. @Annb good news if things are easing even if but slowly. I'm currently watching the female triathletes. All so blessed: they with athleticism and me to have nothing worse to do than that. Enjoy your day, hydrate and be careful in the sun.

These are Pa Badger, Ma Badger, and Boy Badger from last year's brood. A very close knit family...
Currently it doesn't look as though Ma and Pa Badger have any new Badgers this year...
Three Badgers

Creative... I don't have much time this morning, my creative braincell decided to crawl back under the bedcovers. I cannot do that as I have a list of jobs to do before the day heats up any more...we are now up to 20.1 C in the back garden, Google concurs with a 20 C, but promises me 26 C later. Yesterday Google told me it was 29 C. So, is the heatwave nearly over?
Creative...these two pages were the bleed through the pages from a rather wet ink blot a few pages earlier...first I saw (on the page on the right) a beautiful bird, then I saw a cartoon man with wing running, then it changed...
So, for today I will leave this imagination lark to the viewer....

The chilli powder also worked to deter the Badger from upending the wormery in the back garden, my cover kept the lid on.

So what did the Badgers do last night...plenty...my strawberry towers got dismantled...I had already planned on bringing the strawberries (for/by next year) through to my Hanging Gardens of Babylon outside the kitchen door, I was still working on an irrigation system...now, I have no strawberry plants...they were not your regular garden strawberries, they were Alpine strawberries, and some very tiny strawberries I got from a gardener of a grand house somewhere when J was alive. So I have had these tiny strawberries about 17 plus years.
So my other job this morning is to put all the soil, or maybe put the layers of the planters that had the strawberries in, in a much higher up in a badger inaccessible place...is there one?

Hope you have an amazing day....

Take care...

Good morning everyone, it’s all hands to the sails this morning. Picnic made and when the girl in the bubble arrives we are off to chase the tide which will be high as a kite at 1pm and so no sand please, we’re British. Art bit - never mind the ink mum, we are having fun. More ink on the garden path than at a Japanese squid eating contest. Mucho joy, where’s my koffy.
