What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I think I'm being abused.
#7 & #8 have been around for an afternoon sitting on.
It's fun but so tiring.
They have so much energy and I would love to keep up, but alas.
Think I could be termed the summer entertainment.

Must tell, the big news.
#3 got his preferred uni place local, so he can still be at home.
He got straight B's, which is great, but his girlfriend got Straight A's. #3 was really happy, honest.
Some great reports from #4, #5, #6 & #7!

New stuff for the little box coming Monday. Technology proceeds with vigour.
It has of course, a remote control, but it has voice command to turn over the channels.......
I remember our first television back in '68, where twiddling with the tuning button was the latest tech for the two channels and reception, if the aerial was aligned. After it had warmed the tubes for about an half hour.

Then I can actually pick which sport is shown on the box.

Gotta go, that nice bit of haddock won't cook itself.
My best wishes to you lot as always.
Congratulations to #3 and his leman. As for#7 and #8 that was you one day but as the boys said everything changes. Enjoy the new box.

The other day while looking through the family tree on Ancestry I came across a 2nd great grand uncle his name was James Lang and in the 1881 census his occupation was given as Innkeeper and the location was the Rockford Inn in Brendon Devon out of curiosity I googled it to find it is still in business and it is possible to stay there so I have decided that next year I am going to book a couple of days there. It is a beautiful place and I like the idea of staying in an inn that 140 odd years ago was run by a family member.
That is beautiful @JohnEGreen

I can't remember being #8's age.
I don't remember my mum saying owt about me when I was at that age either.
I vaguely remember my first day at infant school my first dinnertime at school and the swimming baths, a holiday disaster on the moors going to the east coast in my dad's Ford pop.
But if I said that #8 is a spitting image of his dad at that age, and according to family, his older brother, his uncles, and of course myself. Blond, blue eyes and a cheeky grin. And at that age, get away with everything.

I noticed that your lot has signed a certain Leeds lad, with a legendary name of Grey.
I think you have got a winner there.
And according to my contacts, a future captain of the international team. He is highly rated.
Good signing.

Right, I am late to post today.
I was out early to pick up some stuff, and some stuff I had sourced, but by time I got back home, I crashed out asleep until 3.
Still tired, but got those pillows out and beat them against the garage wall, then the sun came out, so they have had a few hours in the sun...now I need to get them in before the sun sets...

Very tired today, but my readings are okay. I'll be glad when we get cooler weather...

Last night I was late finishing locking up because I found the sd cards and batteries needed replacing...
I finally came in and it was pitch black, and shut the door, but I was about to go back out and give Midnight a cuddle, when I realised Pa Badger was on my heels. I didn't have my hearing processor on, so I didn't hear him behind me.
He was all alert and interested, but I shut the door, and he and I watched each other for a bit, and then he started foraging around by the door, lifted the doormats, sniffed all round, and was outside that door for about 10 minutes. It was lovely to see him only inches away from me....
I am in danger of doing the same tonight if I don't get a move on...

Creative...not so good. I tried these new Kuratake brush pens on Bristol Board paper. I didn't like the way they blended. I sprayed water on the picture, the paint moved on this smooth surface, unlike the cartridge paper of yesterday. But I touched the pastel blue brush pen accidentally into the water and it leached a whole pile of paint out of the brush pen, which now had white bristles instead of blue ones. And because the barrel was solid plastic, I couldn't squeeze any more paint out. I was so disappointed, I thought I had ruined the brush. The blue looked very pretty, but when dried, you could see no evidence of the blue brush pen, nor the lilac brush pen, and very little evidence of the pale green. So that was a waste. Obviously these brush pen paints of Kuratake are not heavily pigmented as in the days of yore...

Finally some blue came back into the brush bit.

I tried doing some drawing with the brush pens, but it is too late in the day and I am dog tired...and ham fisted, and stiff fingers after beating those pillows...

It is getting dark quickly out there...I live quite high up, so I lose daylight quicker than those who live by the river...

Go to go.

Hope your day was good.

Afro trees!
Love it, back to the seventies.

I found some lovely olive oil (for my daily tablespoon and a half) in Aldi made with olives grown in Puglia in Southern Italy.

When I checked it out.I was really pleased to read this:

Aldi’s Specially Selected P.D.O.Terra Di Bari Castel Del Monte Extra Virgin Olive Oil (£5.19, 500ml) just earned a Which? Great Value endorsement in the consumer champion’s latest test, being commended for its overall ‘outstanding value’.

With an overall score of 71%, Aldi’s olive oil beat far costlier options from competition including Sainsbury’s (£8.40) and Asda (£7), with Aldi’s oil even blowing Waitrose’s £15.50 offering out of the water, despite it costing nearly two thirds less!

Thank you for that.

A lovely idea to stay at the inn. Hope you enjoy it when you get there.

I have seen a picture of the house in Weston Turville that my family lived in for about 200 years. Although it was rented all that time, it still has their name today. It's a private house now, although it was a pub for some years after my ancestors left there, so we couldn't really ask to visit. Not that I could now anyway. When my brother and SIL were her yesterday, I asked whether they had ever been to Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire (they live in Wiltshire and visit Gloucestershire frequently). They haven't but when I told them they should since it is our ancestral seat they said they would go and stake their claim. Good luck on that one. :blackeye:

Wow! That's remarkable value @Krystyna23040
Thanks for the tip

Friday's FBG 4.7 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.

BG at 0530 was 9.6 but it's up a bit now. I expect it to go down again when I have insulin and breakfast.

Odd-job man is due to arrive around 0900 so I'd better get a move on with breakfast.

EDIT: Odd-job man and his assistant are here and it is getting very noisy. Had to stop a very interesting conversation with Neil about the spread of languages during the iron age and therefore the connection or lack of connection between Gaelic, Welsh, Cornish, Breton and Doric. This arose because the friends I visited yesterday are just back from Macao where they were teaching - she in a school and he as a professor of languages at the university there. He has just produced a very attractive looking book which has only one poem in it but he's had it translated into Irish gaelic, Scots gaelic, Welsh and Doric from the original English. He actually commissioned another little book years ago in Scots gaelic which he had printed by the Stornoway Gazette - a very poor job they made of it and Neil was involved in trying to improve it. I only wish Neil had a louder voice so that I could follow what he is saying more easily.

My brother and SIL gave me some lovely flowers when they came on Thursday but either the flowers or some kind of added perfume were having a bad effect on Neil. He did ask them not to include lilies (he went with them to the florist) because he knows that lilies cause problems for him but there was something else there which had a bad effect on his lungs and head. I put them out into the porch but they were still affecting him, so I gave them away to our hostess yesterday. Such a shame, but at least they were able to enjoy them.

Yep, that’s the olive oil I buy - about a third of my current bottle left in the cupboard and a new one waiting behind. Looks like this.

Good morning everyone on yet another all things bright and beautiful start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.1 this a.m. after a day of luxurious ease. Only one task yesterday - walk into town and collect a prescription for Mrs Miggins. That out of the way and, after a chat with my mum, some indulgent nothingness, a bit of reading and paint splurging. Funny old dream last night - I pay them no mind unless I get a stress dream which rarely happens. Very few things cause me stress, especially if it’s something that is not under my own control. Two years of CBT (founded upon stoic ideas) helped me enormously. So too does not paying much mind to TV news or the under house waste pipes that are Social Media. Anyhow, art bit, not as I envisaged but never mind. Find strength in your own imperfections - the Japanese Call it Kintsugi - it’s mainly about mending broken pottery with powdered gold but the principle works for your mind also. My day tells me that there are wonders to see so probably a walk through the woods and down to the sea. I could collect some Sycamore helicopters for The Girl In The Bubble. First though, some koffy.
