What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from L.A. where it is definitely Fall. My fbg was 4.6 and stayed there until I needed food for my meds. Today I had h/m Keto granola (50 gms) and kefir (100 mls) before taking meds. I'm not sure if that's any use for anything other than pure self-deception but I gave it a go. By about 2.00 pm bg will be, for me, running riot seemingly due to the impact of steroids and Doxycycline, but returns to trend by late evening and behaves all night. Attempting to balance LC with protein, nutrients, vitamins and calories takes away most of the joy from what God has so bountifully provided. Eating seems to have become (who am I kidding, it is) - an over complicated spreadsheet and bg checking exercise far removed from pleasure. @gennepher thank you for sharing the video and kaleidoscope. @JohnEGreen you deserve a hug for the lucky escape with that hand rail and a winner for the timely repair. Sorry about sharing the MIL post with y'all but it needed to go somewhere other than round and round in my head as that would only have ended badly. Wherever possible enjoy your day but if so be you can't accept that like us all this life is imperfect. Everyone has a plan util they get hit in the mouth.
Thanks @ianpspurs

Well, I went, this morning, to collect the security equipment I had ordered.
Nil instructions with one lot, but the Amazon page has given enough instructions I think.
For the second lot, which was two higher quality cameras, which do face detection and numberplates (better quality than my nighttime ones for my beasties). I still have to read and understand the instructions for those. But I had ordered a multi pack of SD cards (my other trail cameras have micro sd's) , and I was only sent one SD card which is useless between two trail camera devices. So I have to sort that out before I can set up the trail cameras.

I had a nap when I got back and now to start the day again, hopefully to set up the devices with nil instructions...

I need to make a new wormery before I attempt to get more tiger worms. I won't be buying one of those fancy devices you see on the adverts, too expensive. I will be starting with a very small bin/bucket with a lid (the size of a waste basket), and I need to fit a tap at the bottom so I can let out the worm 'juice', and put a few tiny air holes in the lid. It will live in my kitchen, at least over the winter months, because that is warmer inside and the worms need warmth to feel active enough to munch the food.

Then I need to create an indoor vegetable garden. Not sure what method I am going to use yet. I would like something easy. I think I will start with micro greens. But I need to watch a few more videos first. I have another idea but it includes LED lights which will be needed for the dark winter months, in order to grow.

If I go for the second option, I need to clear a table space for it...

Good morning everyone (just) from a damp morning the the dark and dangerous north. 5.4 this a.m. and a late start after an uneventful yet tiring 12 hours sampling various modes of transport - foot, train, tram, another tram, plane, foot, train, car. Feet up today I think although I have walked down to the post office and poured some ink and paint onto some paper - wonder what it will look like later on when it’s had time to dry? Art bit - something I did a while ago, no idea when. Hope the rest of your day goes swimmingly. I have already had koffy and I think that we are having a walk into town in a wee while.

Sprouting beans and seeds in jars is easy and gives some good amount of nutritious greens for little effort.

Just set up the first two alarms.
Connected them up to iPad via sound alert feature.
It picks up the alarm from my bedroom and alerts me.
Brilliant.
Now to order 4 more....to go round the bungalow...or maybe 6, with one for potting shed and one for garage...I tested, it picks up the alarm from there.

Just have to hope the nighttime beasties don't set any of these off...

Wow, love this @dunelm

6.7 today
Morning painting done, as Mrs L has promised (yeah!!!) A day in bed.
Chores sorted.
Window cleaner been.
Car transporter picked up van from a neighbour's further up the road.
Road marker turned up as I was in garden, just doing a bit, to paint where Gasmen missed.
Eldest coming round tonight to go through my tax, as my company pension has had to pay a lump sum, cos of the didn't pay us enough in the April rise. My tax is pretty high for what I get. No harm in trying eh?

masses of avian species out back, until the idiot person got on his tractor to roll the footie pitches. (Can't call him a groundsperson, cos some of the things he does, doesn't make sense) He wasn't out long.

weather is dark, damp, cloudy, moist, everything is wet outside. More rain is due. Feels like end of October, going into bonnie night when the frosts arrive. Defo autumn.

Good to hear that your journey, whilst tiring, was uneventful. Excellent idea to rest today, a lowish step count has the trendy name active rest: in days of Yore I believe they called it walking it off. Thank you for sharing the art. Too complex for a simple soul like me to properly appreciate but I know there is technical skill there - and an insect.

Thanks @Annb. I can't help feeling guilty for even allowing those thoughts/feelings headroom. It feels like I'm giving the tempter an easy way in but I also can't lie about how I feel. I would suspect there are deeper issues but Penguin paperback psychology will tell you anything you want to hear and utterly wreck your mind. I'm pretty sure my childhood was textbook - no couch needed thanks - and afaic all my marbles are in my tin: your mileage may vary obviously.
It's hard when we realise that we're human, just like everyone else, Ian. I'm beginning to wonder if my tin is leaking marbles though.

Neil bought me some lights for winter growing plants in the kitchen. They were a kind of purple/pink light which seemed to work quite well. DIL also bought for me 3 plant-pots with lights incorporated. Haven't used them yet, but I must. Problem atm is that I only have bags of compost and they are in the container outside. I have asked Neil to get one of them in for me, but he hasn't done it so far. Reminds me - I must water the little jungle I have in the front porch. That's my big failure when growing plants out there - I forget about them and don't water as much as I should in the warmer weather.

Thank you @ianpspurs. Active rest - whatever next. Sounds like it came from those folk who made up “sports personality”. Perhaps it will be taxed.

You could explain that the reverse is much more beneficial.
Restful activity, is a far better sell.

I have been advised by a physio, must be a decade ago.
To fast walk, every day, whilst being on my feet all day, every day in work.
Surely he meant walk fast?

An action-packed nighttime video and striking kaleidoscope images! Thank you for sharing @gennepher.

No further crepuscular activity to report, but just after 8.00 am on Tuesday morning, a juvenile fox came bounding up the garden path and I watched it drink from the bird bath I'd placed at ground level. It was the first fox sighting for some time.

Tuesday's FBG 4.4 mmol/L on waking at 6.00 am.
