What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on an early rise into the quiet deliciousness of the morning here in the dark and dangerous north. Got all our shopping done in an hour yesterday - I always write out a list and stick to it on those occasions that I actually remember to have it accompany me to the shops. I noticed that they have these things called “fully loaded Yorkshire puddings” on offer this year- a tiny morsel of pudding, like a bit that dripped out onto the oven floor and containing a blob of what may or may not be a stuffing ball and the smallest possible piglet in a homeopathic quantity of bacon. No. Just no.
It’s a ride on the funicular with Santa this morning - we have to take a child with us mind or it will look a bit weird. When we told The Girl In The Bubble she replied, “well I hope that Santa Claus gets on the right one because there are two carriages and only one Santa.” - picky or what?
Art bit - gone fishing. May your day be merry and bright and move at a reasonable pace. I must make koffy and do a bit of reading before the day kicks off.

I agree @dunelm - a very definite no

5.3 this morning.
The park had dried out so we had a lovely early morning walk there.

Mr K does have a very different packing style from me.

Mr K opens the wardrobe and takes out the clothes he needs and his packing is done in 5 minutes.

I open my wardrobe and spend 5 minutes looking through my clothes. Take out a few items. I do the same with the other wardrobe in the guest bedroom.

Then try everything on to attempt to decide what to take with me. Go downstairs to ask Mr K what he thinks. Mr K says 'yes that looks good ' to everything.

Still no closer to deciding what to take tomorrow so go back to updating my packing list of all the other million things I am taking with me. :) :):)

Yes, it does.
why take something you won't use?
And, all my clothes were usually iron free.
modern material.
And coming back, bag into kitchen, contents into washing machine, washed, dried, and ready for use the next day. Cos I was usually back in work after a day off.
So easy and no lists...
Ah non-iron fabrics. In the days I'm talking about, uniform shirts were always pure cotton, as were the shorts. Once he was on the tanker, his washing was done by a steward so he didn't have to do the ironing. I'm sure things are different in the merchant navy these days. By the time he retired from the sea, trips were only 3 or 4 months at a time, but he still took the same amount of stuff.

Morning all from a now quite sunny L.A. on the last day of the Great O Antiphons and penultimate day of my most Woke Advent Calendar ever. 6.00 am start to collect grandchildren because one was feeling poorly last night so they didn't sleep over. @dunelm thank you for sharing another wonderful piece of art in the red collection. The funny was for TGIB's remark and your very on brand rant over those Yorkies. Those nice Ocado people will deliver part two of Christmas then tomorrow we will collect the turkey and JKP has ordered some delicacies from Waitrose. There will be ten and two dogs here Christmas day : Elf-N-Safety said normally such conditions would be intolerable but as its Christmas and since it is our own Ho Ho Home it is Hokey Cokey. Off to Bury St Edmunds (who keeps disinterring the poor man?) to see Lizzy the dermatologist this afternoon, oh deep, deep, joyloads eh Stanley? @Krystyna23040 my single figures guess must be in danger now. The Rohan sale starts on Dec 27th so you can fill even more wardrobe space. Winter bags are 40% off so I plan to turn the heating down by at least 4 degrees to recover the cost, O.K @Lamont D? Moscow but remember, he sees you when you're sleeping so be good for goodness sake. Still too early for the sprouts, chestnuts and lardons (15 mins max on the Big Day). Stay Elfy.

An intriguing art bit...I like this very much @dunelm
Hope the ride with Santa is good...

Nighttime wildlife video...
Badger Thor pootles around - Jade is on the swing - later Cat Midnight is on the ground at exactly the same time as Badger Thor and he is not worried about the badger. Badger Thor shies away from Midnight. Midnight rules...Part 1.

There was a lot of activity this night, so I divided it into two parts. Part two will be posted within 24 hours. Part 2 will include a new fox visitor.

Creative... I was out very early this morning doing some last-minute fresh food Christmas shopping. I was shopping at a new shop that is only just opened up and I have never been in before. I bumped into a lady and I think she also bumped into me! We're both said so sorry very very sorry and then laughed. I explained I had never been in before and that I'm finding it confusing where everything is. I said I'm finding it a complete blur (normally I never shop in supermarkets, but this one was very small, yet still confusing where stuff was). She said this was her first visit as well and she found it very confusing and we both agreed that the fruit and veg department was very very strange. Anyway, it was nice having a conversation with someone who felt the same way as I did about a new shop.

But by the time I came out to take a photograph of what I was hoping would be the sunrise, I missed it. I went to the local park to see if I could catch a photograph with some trees. I've got a photo from the car window, but it was an abysmal sunrise.

So I have just fartnarkled it in a few apps.
This is my creative!

I have just had a sleep when I got home, it's now midday and I need to get up and do a few things, although I have been awake since very very early...

Have a good day...
Have a nice nap if you need one...
Have a nice cup of tea!!!

Thank you for the video and wonderful photo. Nice bumping into that other lady. I hope the new shop has fruit, veg and other food suitable for you. Enjoy a day drinking tea, relaxing in the warm. I'm having my daily coffee (decaf) with cream. Lowers my bg according to Libre. These things are sent to try us

A smile, apart from the poorly grandchild. Got my Rohan sale booklet pushed through the door - loads of stuff either not in my size, already got something similar thank you or “how much?”

Thank you very much @ianpspurs
The new shop although small was brilliant. And yes it had fruit and veg galore, but not at the prices you were talking about!

Thank you @gennepher and the Santa ride was interesting. All going well but perhaps Santa should stick to the script and refrain from explaining to this local kid about how the funicular worked as some 5 year olds might want to then talk about water pressure and how counterweight pulley systems work.

Your fartnarkling worked a treat - smashing photo.

Due to the wonders of modern science, aka a good night's sleep and perhaps some calpol, he is fine thank you and prepared to man up and brave the ordeal of a diet of (very thin obviously) gruel locked in the freezing outhouse that Nanny and Grangrad offer. Character building, don'tcha know? Homemade is so much more personal (and cheaper) than public school. Turns out the Ocado order was really pared back after Saturday at Aldi, much smaller than a weekly shop. I suspect Waitrose may be shown her feeder love language tomorrow and I'm still miffed about the missing lobster.

Beautiful image. Very dramatic sky.

Character building stuff and I thought that lobster was the food of the poor? I could go down to our local beck as there are reports of signal cray fish but it’s a bit nippy right now.

Merry chrimbo eve eve..!
Similar to @gennepher I ventured out this dark morn to get the last bits. On her maj orders.
6.4 and a bus ride later.
The shops were overcrowded somewhat!
Queues so deep, you needed to take a oxygen take with you.

Battery changing day.
Wrapping done, No, the sparkling paper thing, not the vocalising, if you call it that.
Loads to do, and Mrs L is having a nap, so I'm m on here instead.
Gammon soaking, turkey, just sitting there, copying me, more cucumber and onion to do.......
And I've had my ears lowered. Only took a couple of minutes.
Mrs L Christmas pjs sorted and prim and proper.

And oh yeah, #6 is a teenager today.
Gone to London on a special day out.

Have a very merry busy day.
Enjoy it at your own peril.

Warmer tomorrow than the whole of August!!!!!
I predicted this back then.

You see, I'm weird, I can predict the future...
My team will never win the premiership.
Not will @ianpspurs , the way things are going!!!!!
Easy ain't it?

My bestest ever wishes till tomorrow.

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and the feel my bottomist that took my blood tests earlier than the appointed time this morning, enabling me, me’s and myself to accompany Mrs J to do the Christmas shopping while I kept out of the way in the in house costa koffy shop.

Sorry but I can’t remember what my blood sugar reading was, not good, not horrendous, so in the interests of nothing, let’s say it was in the 7’s because I’m in my seventies.

Now I must rest up and try to be fit and able to be ready for tomorrow’s sojourn into mini Mordor with the grandchildren, a tradition started by myself when our children were young, I took them into town on Christmas Eve morning to buy pocket money presents for their mother, the famous Mrs J, who one year was heard muttering I don’t need any more duplo. My eldest son now carries the tradition on with his 3 children, I now tag along providing totally inappropriate ideas, as is a grandparent’s right.

If I don’t get the opportunity to post until Boxing Day, I would like to wish all our regular posters and intermittent posters a good Christmas Day, thank you posting and providing a vision on how we all cope with this insidious condition called diabetes.

Now if nobody minds I have some medical paperwork to catch up on then I might just play some very loud music, until Mrs J storms in switches it off.

Character building stuff and I thought that lobster was the food of the poor? I could go down to our local beck as there are reports of signal cray fish but it’s a bit nippy right now.
Precisely. I'm so poor I can't even afford bread and jam - I have to jam a piece of old bread in a door. Well, I say door - its only a door to us. I was going to use that £10 Ted Heath gave us pensioners.

Happy birthday #6, enjoy London but maybe not all it has to offer.. As for Spurs, this is a good summary. The Aussie Ted Lasso in charge? Always wins a trophy in his second season :banghead: His best bet was the sack race and he lost that long ago.
