What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

8.9 at 05.15 today.

Had an early appointment at the Health Centre today because they wanted to take some blood for testing and blood pressure, as well as bandaging my legs. It was very cold out there and Neil had to spend quite a long time getting the ice off of the car. The roads were not too bad, however, so it was a safe trip there and back. This was the first day I've had to wear my winter coat - a long sheepskin thing which makes me look ridiculous, but it does the job and such a cold day.

The supermarkets were open for Neil to get my shopping but most businesses are still shut for the new year holiday. I don't suppose they'll open now until Monday.

EDIT: I wrote this much earlier but omitted to post it.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were a surprising 6.4

Hopefully attached should be Mrs J’s latest artwork, these are adult paint by numbers and incredibly complex.
This piece has taken a long time to complete due to Mrs J having to drive me to various medical appointments and visiting me when I had short break staying in the Royal Berkshire Hospital, thankfully and hopefully this episode is history. Also Christmas helped with the delay in completing this latest artwork.

Neither Mrs J and myself like this artwork and one of Mrs J’s fiends who likes it is now in possession of it, its fate is to be framed and hung.

You can’t win ‘em all but someone is loving it.

@ianpspurs
I’ve given your posting a hug, but I’m also wondering if you are suffering from SAD syndrome, Seasonally Affected Disorder syndrome. It is common problem for folk who suffer from a lack of sunlight. Solutions for this problem exist, some as simple as changing your light bulbs.

My problems are many fold and lack of riding my motorcycle is definitely one of them also in my youth I got addicted to adrenaline and my motto at the time was “ take it to the limit one more time “ a song I know you are familiar with by the Eagles somewhat ironic as I flew hangliders at that time.

Stay safe

Alf

Mrs J says thank you.

Thanks Alf. I don't need a hug, have had masses of hugs from the two grandchildren who have been here since New Year's day. I genuinely try to tell the truth. Low carb food isn't tasty in the main and being unable to do 20-30k steps a day isn't anything but a nuisance. Pretending things are fine and dandy when they aren't is totally ridiculous. I'm warm, well fed and well clothed - I just know better, far more enjoyable ways to spend my time. It is cold since it is January in the uk that is just a fact and who really enjoys wearing layer after layer?. Salmon salad is as nutritious as most meals I will/would have eaten over Christmas period and I really enjoy the taste. I don't need new light bulbs and I certainly don't need to lie through my back teeth. When things aren't right I'll say so. but I sincerely appreciate the concern

Good afternoon all on a day which is distinctly not my kind of day. Once, walking dogs over the icy fens before watching cricket from, say India. was wonderful, now it is just inconveniently cold. Too many layers, too much heating needed. Central heating is a convenient but cheerless form of heating. I can give thanks to God for the time with JKP, my boys and grandchildren but it is dishonest to pretend this is no more than a pale reflection of even times past, never mind the future life God promises. LC food fits squarely into that framework. I'm thankful, if more than a little sceptical, it may well have stopped my T2 causing untold damage - weight loss (surely no one can eat much of this stuff and stay inside a keto carb budget?) and exercise seem more likely but as a way of eating it is often more Dementor's kiss than joy. Salmon salad today so joy wins. Adam and Eve weren't forced out of Eden for eating too many carbs. I really don't see God saying I've created cabbage casserole and chaffles, I can do more now. I'll just rest. . @Krystyna23040 your dog walk sounds wonderful., even without a huge mug of tea and cricket afterwards. @dunelm and @gennepher thank you for sharing your art. @alf_Josiah do pass on my thanks to Mrs A J for sharing her art. @SlimLizzy happy New Year to you too. Basically I could just have said how do we mange the tension between the now and the not yet? Despite all that enjoy Friday.
Yes, you are right that the cold weather isn't nice.

I was very envious of a colleague who is visiting her son in New Zealand at the moment - until I received a rather disgruntled email from her today saying that the weather was windy, wet and cold. Not at all what she expected.

The artwork is stunningly beautiful @alf_Josiah
Tell Mrs J she has done amazingly,
I love it.

Right...back to sleep...was cold out today...makes me sleepy...have to go out first thing... I'll probably sleep all day Saturday when I get back....

Below freezing outside now at 2:39 am

I'm toasty warm inside and drinking a nice hot cup of tea, and playing with a bit of artwork... so this is my creative for today. Scribble drawing with a black pen, which turns purple once you spray it with water. And I put it in procreate to play with it a bit more.....

There are no wildlife videos for today. The new badgers just come in for a very short time each night, and so it's difficult to get a video off them each day. They haven't visited the last two nights, but then it's been below freezing....

So in the next couple of days, I'll get out the SD cards from last year with the original badger family that I've not looked at yet. No time to do it at the moment.

So good night from me.
Sweet dreams toasty warm dreams.
No Fbg today, because I'm asleep and awake at the wrong times...

The black furry hot water bottle is keeping me warm here....

Have your best kind of day when you wake up....

Take care....

Reminds me of a song. I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain.

Good morning everyone in the perfection that is the silence of dawn here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.4 this glorious a.m. Got some more logs yesterday. Just a car boot full. Which isn’t a huge amount when you are in a Smart car. But enough for a week and merely a top up. Snow forecast - well there you go. Never happened before has it? The Met Office is wanting folk to stock up on torches and batteries, candles with matches and lighters and plenty of blankets and warm clothing. But they don’t appear to be listed in “these are a few of my favourite things” Julie. When it arrives, there it will be. I will check our lanthorns. Art bit - Sailing from Lisbon. Hope your day is a good one and don’t crick your neck when gazing up at the Quadrantids meteor shower (best one of the year so far ). Koffy, best make some koffy.

Morning all on a perfectly imperfect January morning in Breckland. I have no idea of my fbg which makes my presence here rather superfluous bearing in mind one part of the thread title but you are an indulgent crowd.. @dunelm and @gennepher thank you for sharing your artistic skills once again. @Krystyna23040 shame about the rain in New Zealand for your friend but them's the breaks. A day to catch breath here before celebrating a 95th birthday tomorrow. Likely to be very low key as JKP still has a very bad back and we are all big family feasted out. Cake for the Normies and tea for this Tillerman: shame he was then called Cat. Yes, I saw your Prince/Symbol etc and raised you. Ange may not make it to Wednesday, he seems to have broken all Danny Boy's B and M toys aged over 18. Are Pork Clouds an acceptable sub for popcorn ? Enjoy your Saturday - it was once rumoured you could go your own way.

5.7 this morning.
Even colder today so I dug out my warm balaclava to wear under the hood of my coat. I actually was too warm. Very unusual for me.

The park looked stunning in with all the frost.

Sent out timetables this week so am all set to start classes on Monday. Have got some interesting new stuff to teach from the training videos.

What is even better is that I have got a better understanding on how to teach a couple of exercises more effectively than I have been.

Hope your MIL has an enjoyable 95th birthday and that JKPs back improves very soon.

It sounds as though the "break" (as much as you do breaks) has done you a power of good. I hope you take the lessons of #anklegate into 2025 and beyond. File that under aspiration, I suspect. :playful: Thank you for the good wishes for MIL and JKP. The physio has sent JKP exercises and the GP says keep taking the pills but mostly smile and wave.

I have no idea why but my Fbg today was seven point seven.
My car is due back from the garage this coming Tuesday.
But today have some people coming to collect my mobility scooter to take it to their workshop to fix it as it has developed some minor faults.
Adrian is travelling back to Ireland today hope the weather is not to disruptive of his journey I think he has decided to book into a hotel tonight and take a flight from Birmingham airport to Dublin tomorrow and then it’s a several hour trip from Dublin to Ards.

Like the Curates egg that was good and bad in parts. Having the car back and the mobility scooter working properly will be good. Adrian returning to Ards must give mixed feelings even in good weather. Have as good a day as possible. As @lindisfel always says, Shalom to you and your family.

Good cold Saturday afternoon to you all, I wish I could write warm Saturday afternoon to you all.

Blood sugars this not so early morning were 4.5 to counter this measures have been taken and insulin dosage tweaked.

It is too cold to go into my garage and stare longingly at my motorcycle while dreaming of future journeys.
Mrs J and my eldest son have hidden Mrs J’s Christmas decorations in the loft. This will enable the electricity companies to mothball several power stations till next Christmas.

Shortly apart from bill’s Christmas will be a memory. While plans for the coming year are to made, then dispensed with, while being replaced with other plans.

Now as befits a 70+ year old it time for my afternoon nap.
Stay safe, stay warm all, remembering it is still a beautiful world unless you read the media.

Thanks @SlimLizzy and the same to you. Hope you had a good Christmas break.
Thank you @dunelm a last minute decision has me travelling to UK on Christmas eve. MrSlim stayed in France, good decision as he went down with heavy cold? Flu? On boxing day - which is when we have the family party. He has been very unwell but is starting to recover now. Which is a really good thing as the removal van arrives Tuesday.
Edit: written yesterday but failed to post.
