Back to "normal". Appeared to be hydrated but still had to stab 4 times before getting a decent blood drop. So frustrating, and my regular fingertips are all bruised now so may have to try little finger this evening.

on the fingertip itself pretty nippy :O someone accidentally managed to bump into me just as about to inject some insulin at a shopping centre picked the pen up via the pressure activated safety needle ... oops

Have you tried the libre sensor they are giving ones away at the moment ..well a 2 week free trial .

dexcom also offer a free trial too

So near yet so far to the 6's. Had a 7.0 this morning and double checked (desperately hoping and optimistic for a lower reading ) but got a 7.1 instead. Cannot grumble as overall numbers going the right way just need to maintain the effort.

Morning All 8.1 so far from 6s. @debs248 take a look at the Accuchek Fastclix pen for stabbing. You don’t need to use one of the six lancets each time, I don’t but you can set the comfort setting between 1 and 5. I am just going to carry on carrying on with everything crossed.

Sympathies for the readings, the lower readings sometimes feel like a million miles away but keep at it.

Fully agree with the Fastclix and the 6 needle cartridge recommendation from @PenguinMum . I know the official guidance is to use each needle once but I reckon I get about 6 or 7 stabs per needle and so a cartridge will last up to 50 finger pricks. I only change needle when I get an "ouch!" as the needle itself gets blunt so I know to move on to a new needle. Once all 6 are used you have to change the cartridge. A comfort setting of 2 makes for a virtually painless jab on a new needle. From a hygiene point of view it is only myself who uses the clicker and none of my fingers have fallen off or suffered adverse reactions, at least not yet.

Morning all. 8.3 for me. my downfall yesterday was some baked beans with loads of cheese. Back to the drawing board. Got some lamb meatballs for lunch today. Boiled eggs or poached eggs on ham for tea. Have a nice day even if it is cloudy.

Thank you everyone who made suggestions, too many to answer individually. I'm sticking with the lancets I've got on prescription for now, but am looking at the fastclix should I ever need to buy my own.

My husband noticed yesterday that my hands are much colder than his, even though they feel fine to me, so today I added vigorous hand warming to my preparation routine and was successful! Maybe that's why I was getting better results from my right hand - it does more activity so it's a bit warmer?

My local pharmacy was a life saver when I came back from America the other year with a really bad UTI. I didn't know how to go about seeing a GP when I was in US so just tried some over counter medication from Walmart which simply made things worse. When I got home, I went to my local chemist to see if they could help. The Pharmacist gave me 3 days of antibiotics which resolved the UTI. So grateful.
