I'm sorry to hear you're unwell.Hi. I’m type 2 on medication. Im unwell with flu. Can’t get to see GP. Blood this morning is 10.2 have not been eating anything. What should I do? X
Thank you. X. Have reassured me.I'm sorry to hear you're unwell.
While 10.2 is a tad higher than you'd like, it's completely normal to have raised bg when fighting an illness, and it's not dangerously high.
If it were me, I'd get in bed with something for the flu symptoms, drink plenty of water or tea and try to get some sleep. I wouldn't be worried about my numbers being in the lower teens.
Get well soon!
Like @Antje77 said, it's normal to be elevated under those circumstances... Just be good to yourself, and get well soon. Oh, and it might take a little while for your blood glucose to come back down, could be up for a bit even if the flu's already gone. So don't worry overmuch if it takes a week or so longer than the virus does.Hi. I’m type 2 on medication. Im unwell with flu. Can’t get to see GP. If I'm ill I usually expect to see my current expected BG elevated quite a bit - usually by about 20-30% or so. So instead of somewhere in the mid 5s, it will be mid 6s to 7s. This will happen sometimes before I'm aware I'm ill, but it's always been right.Hi. I’m type 2 on medication. Im unwell with flu. Can’t get to see GP. It's caused by the liver making glucose, because that's what you need to fight the infection. I don't see the need to do anything at all about it.
